33 217 Abstract Emptiness of Borderline Personality Disorder Tendencies and Christian Counseling Jae Soon Lee & Mi Kyung Kim Seoul Hanyoung University In order to understand the essence of a sense of emptiness experienced by borderline personality, this study researched eight samples with raw score for 39 & up, considered as a group experiencing similar problems with the experience of borderline personality disorder in the borderline personality disorder scale(pai- BOR). Regarding data collection and analysis, according to Giorgi s phenomenological analysis methodology, first, the overall contents were understood to cognize the whole by repetitively reading the text. Analysing phenomenons suitable for a sense of emptiness in the unit of meaning, and also topicalizing the unit of meaning into academic terms, total 39 sub-elements were drawn. Those 39 sub-elements were integrated into 11 elements, and the results of this study are like below: self-awareness of none, pain caused by hopelessness, decline of desire for life, non-being like feeling, unstable faith, lacking in confidence, difficulty in relationship, loss of life control, repetitive suicide incident, tendency to addiction, and expectation about overcoming. Like this, as the core of a sense of emptiness experienced by people with borderline personality disorder tendency is the selfawareness of none, they experience the paralysis of emotion. In other words, as their internal structure was fragmented by the absence of experience in good objects, they experienced the confusion of identity, instability of emotion, and difficulty in relationship. Based on such results, the Christian counseling was discussed to relieve a sense of emptiness of people with borderline personality disorder tendency.
