1 한국산학기술학회논문지 Vol. 10, No. 6, pp , 2009 박세현 1, 양찬우 2, 정창원 2* 1 DMC 연구소, 삼성전자, 2 NID 융합기술대학원, 서울산업대학교 Frequency Reconfigurable Antenna for Multi Mode & Multi Band (MMMB) Communication Systems Sehyun Park 1, Chanwoo Yang 2 and Changwon Jung 2* 1 Digital Media & Communication R&D Center, Samsung Electronics, 2 Graduate School of NID Fusion Technology, Seoul National University of Technology 요약본논문에서는현재모바일용무선통신서비스로사용하고있으며, 주파수가변이가능한셀룰러 (cellular) 대역용안테나와커낵티비티 (connectivity) 대역용안테나를소형모바일기기에사용하기위해제한된공간 (40mm x 20mm x 6mm) 내에서설계, 제작, 측정한결과를소개하였다. 각각의안테나는안테나상에삽입되어있는 PIN 다이오드를이용하여주파수를재구성할수있다. 첫번째셀룰러대역용안테나는현재사용되는셀룰러대역 ; 0.82GHz ~ 0.96GHz 대역 (GSM/ CDMA) 과 1.7GHz ~ 2.17GHz 대역 (DCS/ PCS/ WCDMA) 간의주파수를가변할수있으며, 두번째커낵티비티대역용안테나는현재사용되는커낵티비티대역 3.4GHz ~ 3.6GHz 대역 (mwimax) 와 2.3GHz ~ 2.5GHz, 5.15GHz ~ 5.35GHz 대역 (WiBro/ WLAN 11a/b/g/n) 간의주파수를가변할수있다. 이로써이종서비스 ( 셀룰러 / 커낵티비티 ) 의안테나를소형모바일기기의제한된사이즈의단일안테나로구현하였으며, 주파수재구성설계를통해안테나의방사효율을향상시키며, 또한이종서비스각각의포트를분리설계하여동시동작모드로사용할수있다. Abstract Two frequency-reconfigurable antennas have been designed and combined in a space with limited volume, i.e., 40mm x 20mm x 6mm. Each antenna can be reconfigured to operate at different frequency bands depending on the state of an embedded switch, which is implemented using a PIN diode. The first antenna can be switched between 0.82GHz ~ 0.96GHz band (GSM/ CDMA) and 1.7GHz ~ 2.17GHz band (DCS/ PCS/ WCDMA), which are cellular bands. The second antenna can be switched between 3.4GHz ~ 3.6GHz band (mwimax) and 2.3GHz ~ 2.5GHz, 5.15GHz ~ 5.35GHz bands (WiBro/ WLAN 11a/b/g/n), which are connectivity bands. The proposed combined antenna operates both over cellular bands and connectivity bands concurrently. The choice of the operation bands is made independently by the states of the two switches. Key Words : Reconfigurable Antenna, Concurrent operation, Cellular band, Connectivity band, PIN diode 1. 서론 현재의사용되고있는다양한무선통신시스템서비스 ( 음성, 데이터, 영상 ) 에서사용하기위한다중주파수대역용안테나의개발은다중대역다중모드 (MMMB: Multi-mode and Multi-band) 무선 RF 시스템에서하나의 중요이슈가되어져왔다 [1-3]. 하나의급전을갖는단일안테나로다중주파수대역에서사용되기위하여, 많은다중대역안테나또는광대역안테나설계기술이수행되어져왔다 [1-3]. 그러나이러한다중대역용안테나설계기술들은사용대역에서의반사계수 (Return loss) 와방사효율 (Radiation efficiency) 에의한성능면에서단 * 교신저자 : 정창원 (changwoj@snut.ac.kr) 접수일 09 년 04 월 22 일수정일 (1 차 09 년 05 월 01 일, 2 차 09 년 05 월 15 일 ) 게재확정일 09 년 06 월 17 일 1170

2 일대역용안테나보다안테나의방사효율이떨어지는근본적인문제를가지고있다. 또한, 광대역안테나의경우는일반적으로사용대역내에서높은주파수성분들이낮은주파수성분들에의한고조파성분을갖기때문에, 방사빔패턴의성능이저하되는성향이있으며, 이는상용전방향방사 (omni-directional radiation) 통신환경에부적합하다 [3]. 다중주파수대역에서향상된방사효율과더나은방사패턴을갖기위해, RF 스위치사용에의해손실을감수하면서다이오드 (diode), 베랙터 (varactor) 또는 MEMS 스위치를이용한주파수재구성안테나 (frequency reconfigurable antenna) 들이소개되어져왔다 [4-5]. 그러나이러한주파수재구성안테나들은다중주파수를주파수가변에의해한번에한주파수대역만을사용하므로안테나방사효율을높일수는있으나, 여러서비스대역의주파수를동시에사용하지못하는단점이있다 [4-5]. [ 그림 1] 제안된안테나의동작주파수요약따라서본논문에서는두개의주파수재구성안테나 (frequency reconfigurable antenna) 를이종서비스 (cellular/ connectivity service) 상에서동시동작모드로사용하기위해각주파수재구성안테나를각서비스대역에서만사용되게하였다. 두개의안테나는상용모바일기기의안테나제작공간의제한된크기내에서설계되었다. 그림 1에서처럼, 제안된두안테나는현재의대표적인이종상용서비스 ( 음성통신을위한셀룰러 / 데이터통신을위한커낵티비티 ) 에서사용될수있는안테나이다. 첫번째안테나는현재사용되는대부분의음성통신대역의 GSM/ CDMA/ DCS/ PCS/ WCDMA 서비스용주파수재구성안테나이며, 동작주파수대역은 PIN 다이오드를이용하여 0.82GHz ~ 0.96GHz 대역과 1.7GHz ~ 2.17GHz 대역간주파수가변이가능하도록설계되었다. 또한, 두번째안테나는데이터통신대역의 WiBro/ mwimax/ WLAN 11a/b/g/n용주파수재구성안테나이며, 동작주파수대역은 PIN 다이오드를이용하여 3.4GHz ~ 3.6GHz 대역과 2.3GHz ~ 2.5GHz, 5.15GHz ~ 5.35GHz 대역간주파수가변이가능하도록설계되었다. 본논문에서제안된두안테나는주파수그리고방사효율을증가시키기위해주파수가변형이며, 모바일기기에서두이종서비스간포트를분리설계하여이종서비스를동시에사용할수있게하였다. 2. 안테나구성및설계 그림 2는제안된두안테나의구성도이다. 그림 2 ( 다 ) 의측면도에서처럼, 첫번째안테나 ( 셀룰러대역용안테나 ) 의급전포트는 PCB (FR-4; ε r = 4.4, tanδ = 0.02) 상 ( 上 ) 에위치하고, 두번째안테나 ( 커낵티비티대역용안테나 ) 의급전포트는 PCB 밑면 ( 下 ) 에위치한다. 또한, 그림 2 ( 다 ) 에서와같이제한된면적내에서안테나의체적을증가시켜저주파대역 (0.82 ~ 0.96 GHz) 설계를용이하게하기위한, FR-4로구성된지지대가 PCB 상에존재한다. 그림 2 ( 가 ) 에서와같이, 안테나지지대의체적은대부분의상용모바일폰에적합하도록설계되었으며, 체적은 FW x FL2 x FL1 = 40 x 20 x 6mm 3 이다. 그림 2 ( 가 ) 는제안된급전포트 1을사용하는첫번째안테나의전개도이며, 지지대위에서 3개의면 (face1, face2, face3) 을갖는다. 첫번째안테나의주요패치는 1.7 ~ 2.17 GHz 대역 (BW: 24%) 의넓은동작주파수대역을갖기위해, 급전부에서는 UWB 안테나와같은광대역모노폴형태에서흔히쓰이는원형형태로설계하였고, 급전부와이어지는선폭 (AW1) 은제한된공간내에서비교적넓은 13mm 로설계하였다. 첫번째셀룰러대역용안테나의저주파대역동작 (0.82 ~ 0.96 GHz) 을위해, 주요패치의선 (AW1) 은면 (face) 3상의첫번째 PIN 다이오드를통하여선폭 (AW2) 이 5 mm인 ㄱ 자모양의여가선과연결된다. 이때첫번째다이오드가스위치 온 (ON) 일경우첫번째안테나는두개의패치가전기적으로연결된상태가되어전체안테나의길이는길어지므로셀룰러대역의저주파대역 (0.82 ~ 0.96 GHz) 에서동작을하고, 스위치 오프 (OFF) 일경우첫번째안테나는두개의패치가전기적으로끊어진상태가되어급전 ( 포트1) 으로부터전체안테나길이는짧아져, 셀룰러대역의고주파대역 (1.7 ~ 2.17 GHz) 에서동작을하게된다. 8mm 길이의단락선 (SL: Shorting line) 은광대역의임피던스매칭을위해사용되었다. 그림 2 ( 나 ) 는두번째안테나의구성도를보여주며두번째안테나의급전은 PCB 밑면에위치한다. 또한커낵티비티대역인 mwimax (3.4 ~ 3.6 GHz), WLAN (2.3 ~ 2.5 GHz, 5.15 ~ 5.35 GHz) 대역의동작을위하여, SLH 1171

3 한국산학기술학회논문지제 10 권제 6 호, 2009 SLW = 18 7mm 인노치슬롯 (notch slot) 안테나가사용되었다 [5]. 안테나윗면노치슬롯 (notch slot) 과밑면급전부사이의갭 (GF) 은 4.75mm 이다 [ 그림 2 ( 나 ) 참조 ]. 두번째 PIN 다이오드는 PCB 밑면즉두번째안테나의 ㄱ 자모양급전부에위치하며, 스위치 "ON" 인경우, 두번째안테나는 3.4 ~ 3.6 GHz에서동작하며, 스위치 "OFF" 상태에서는이중대역, 2.3 ~ 2.5 GHz, 5.15 ~ 5.35 GHz, 에서동작한다. 그림 3 ( 가 ) 에서는제안된안테나의입체도 (3D) 를보여준다. 전체적인안테나사이즈를줄이기위해, 접지선 (shorting line: SL) 과노치슬롯 (notch slot) 은안테나윗면의중심에서서로연결되어있다. 스위치동작에대한등가도는그림 3 ( 나 ) 에표시하였다. ( 가 ) ( 나 ) ( 가 ) ( 나 ) [ 그림 3] ( 가 ) 제안된안테나의입체도, ( 나 ) 제안된안테나의등가도 3. 측정결과 제안된안테나는두개의 PIN 다이오드스위치의동작에따라, 4가지의조합이생기게되며, 그림 4 ( 가 ) ~ ( 라 ) 는측정된안테나의 S-parameter 값을보여준다. 포트 1 또는급전 1은첫번째안테나 ( 셀룰러대역용안테나 ) 의동작대역을의미하며, 포트 2 또는급전 2는두번째안테나 ( 커낵티비티대역용안테나 ) 의동작대역을의미한다. 그림 4 ( 가 ) ~ ( 라 ) 의각경우직사각형의그림자로표시된동작영역에서보는바와같이, 안테나는두포트의동작영역에서 VSWR 2 이하 (Return loss 10dB 이하 ) 의값을갖으며, 동작영역에서두포트간격리 (isolation) 는 15dB 이상의값을갖는다. 그림 5에서는측정된각포트에서의안테나이득 (y-z 평면 ) 을보여준다. 측정시두개의포트에서측정되지않는포트의경우는 50 Ω 터미내이션 (termination) 처리하였으며, 측정된 y-z 평면에서의평균이득은포트1 의경우 0.9GHz에서 -1dBi, 1.9GHz 에서 1.4dBi 이며, 포트2 의경우 2.4 GHz에서 -1.4dBi, 3.5GHz에서 -2.7dBi, 그리고 5.25GHz에서 -2dBi 이다. 측정된방사효율은포트1 의경우 0.9GHz에서 65%, 1.9GHz에서 92% 이고, 포트2 의경우2.4GHz에서 61%, 3.5GHz에서 51%, 그리고 5.25GHz에서 55% 이다. 4 4. 결론 ( 나 ) 두개의주파수재구성안테나 (Reconfigurable antenna) 가셀룰러대역과커낵티비티대역에서동시동작모드로사용되기위해소형모바일기기의제한된공간내에서설계제작및측정되었다. 각안테나의동작주파수는두 PIN 다이오드스위치의상태에따라선택적으로동작된다. 두개의포트는대부분의음성및데이터통신주파수의대부분을차지하는전체 5개의주파수동작대역을커버한다. 안테나이득은사용대역폭내에서거의일정하며, 사용대역폭내에서의격리는두포트에서모두 15dB 이상이다. 주파수재구성으로안테나효율을높이며, 또한두가지의이종서비스 ( 음성및데이터 ) 통신을제한된모바일안테나크기에서동시에가능하게하는기술은실제상용다중모드다중대역통신 (MMMB: Multi-mode Multi -band) 에서매우유용한기술이다.
