3 Definition of Database A collection of persistent data that is used by the application systems of some given enterprise 한조직의여러응용시스템들이공용 (Shared) 할수있도록통합 (Integrated), 저장 (Stored) 된운영데이터 (Operational data) 의집합 Database의특징 Integrated data 원칙적으로데이터가중복되지않음 최소의중복 (minimal redundancy) 통제된중복 (controlled redundancy) Stored data on storage device (disk or tape) 컴퓨터가접근가능한저장매체에저장 테이프, 디스크등 Persistent data (or operational data) 한조직의고유기능을수행하기위해반드시필요한데이터 자료처리과정에서필요한 input, output, work queue, control statement 등과같은임시데이터는제외 Shared data 한조직의여러응용프로그램이공동으로소유, 유지, 이용하는데이터 3
