1 대학원논문연구 Dissertation Research 대학원논문작성을위해지도교수와연구주제를정하고이에대한자료조사및분석을수행한다. 이를통하여과학적인연구방법에대한기본적인지식을습득하고, 자신의논리를체계적으로구성하여추구하는주제에대해문제를스스로해결할수있는능력을갖출수있도록한다. Thesis advisors will assist graduate students in thinking through the many aspects of crafting, implementing and defending a thesis or dissertation. In this course, students will acquire the ability to establish his/her research project and build up the plan how to solve the problem A 의과학강독 Readings in Biomedical Sciences 의사 - 과학자로서의과학분야의논문을읽고이에대한과학적인비평과응용할수있는능력을함양하기위하여각분야별주제를정하여발표와토론으로수업을진행한다. 매주각분야에서중요한주제를선정하고담당교수가주관하여발표자와참여학생이토론하고습득한지식내용을평가한다. 의과학과전공학생들은본과목을석사및박사과정에서필수적으로이수해야한다. Students entering the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program will normally have a background in upper level genetics, biochemistry, and biology. Students will be able to read, summarize and criticize published scientific papers. Seminar on Biomedical Sciences will be required for all students in his/her voursework. function will be delivered based on major systems of human body. The major topics include musculoskeletal system and skin (3 h), Cellular physiology and introduction to nervous system (6), Cardiovascular system (6), Respiratory system (6), Kidney and body fluid regulation (6), Digestive system and metabolism (6), Endocrine and reproductive system (6), Development and senescence of human body (6). Topics related with nervous system will be delivered in a separate course (human neuroscience-i), so will not be covered here 인체질병의병태생리학개론 Introduction to Pathophysiology of Human Disease 1. 의과학연구를위해서는인체의정상구조에대한해부및조직학적이해와더불어질병의기본개념과병태생리에대한이해가선행되어야한다. 2. 본강좌는인체해부조직학및병리학실습경험이없는학생들에게인체의기존구조에대한이해를바탕으로질병의개념과병태생리학에대한기초지식을습득하게하고자한다. 3. 본강좌는출석, 토론참여도및필기시험으로평가된다. 1. Medical science research requires an understanding of basic concepts in anatomy/histology and pathophysiology. 2. This lecture is intended for providing basic understanding of the concepts and pathogenesis of disease based on the human body structure for students that do not have human histology and pathology training. 3. Worldwide leading biomedical scientists will be invited and recent trends and outcomes of research will be discussed. New research techniques and results are introduced and graduate students talk to the invited scientists in person so that they learn new technologies and develop problem-solving ability 인체의구조와기능 Structure and Function of Human Body 본과목에서는인체의구조와기능을통합하여시스템별로강의한다. 주된강의내용은다음과같다. 근골격계와피부 (3), 세포생리학및신경계일반 (6), 심장순환계 (6), 호흡계 (6), 소화계및물질대사 (6), 신장및체액조절계 (6), 내분비및생식계 (6), 인체의발생과노화 (6). 강의시수에별도로추가되는실험시간에는심전도, 동맥혈압조절, 골격근 / 평활근수축등의생리학실습 (6) 과인체해부학실습견학 (6) 을수행한다. 신경해부학및신경생리학은신경의과학분야에서다루어질것이므로본과목에서는기본적인사항들만언급한다. In this course, integrated knowledge of structure and medicine are essential to the physician scientists-to-be. 학점구조는 학점수- 주당강의시간- 주당실습시간 을표시한다. 한학기는 15주로구성됨. This course is fundamentals of structure and function of nervous system. This course will be operated as team teaching by neural biomedical sciences faculties. This course covers cellular, sensory, motor, autonomic system, sleep, learning and memory neurophysiology 신경계질환의분자세포학 Celluar and Molecular Mechanisms of Neurological Diseases 본강좌에서는신경계질환의예방및치료연구를위하여 신경생리학원론 강의에서다루어지는신경과학및신경생리에관한이론지식의기반하에알츠하이머병, 파킨슨병, 운동신경원질환, triplet repeat induced diseases, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy 등의주요신경계질환들의분자생물학적기전및이들병인기작연구에사용되는최신분자생물학적, 전기생리학적, 신경영상적방법및치료기술에대한심층적인강의를시행할예정이다. This lecture will focus on the neurological diseases (Alzheimer s, Parkinson s, amyotropic lateral screlosis and other neurodegenerative diseases, triplet repeat induced diseases, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy etc) in which modern neuroscience has advanced mechanistic explanations for clinical symptoms. The class will emphasize recent molecular, electrophysiological and neuroimaging experiments in investigating disease mechanisms. This lecture deals with basic immonulogy for differentiation, development and various immune functions of various immune cells, including T, B, dendritic cells and innate immune cells such as NK, NKT, granulocytes in detail. Moreover, the functional roles of these immune cells in immune diseases are intensively discussed 고급면역의과학 Advanced Medical Immunology 1. 초급면역의과학을이수한학생을대상으로종양, 장기이식, 감염, 자가면역질환, 만성염증성질환등의면역학적병리생태를이해함을목적으로한다. 2. Understanding the pathophysiology of immunological diseases such as cancer, transplantation rejection, infection, autoimmune disease, chronic inflammatory diseases. 2. Especially within a field of Tumor Cell Biology among biomedical sciences dealing with lifes, this class will focus on diverse and complicated cellular architecture and function and signal transduction, which are responsible for carcinogenesis and tumor metastasis and furthermore on experimental models and their rationales, for the purpose that the students can have basic and clinical insights into tumor cell biology 감염및인체반응 Infection and Immune Rresponse 세균, 바이러스및기생충감염과그에따른숙주의면역반응및예방백신개발등을연구하는최신연구경향및개발사례등을종설과원저를통해학습한다. 발표와토론으로진행하며평가는출석, 토론참여도, 발표내용및발표후구술 ( 또는필기 ) 시험으로평가한다. The objective of this course is to understand molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in microbial (Bacteria, Viruses, and Parasites) infections and host immune responses. It also includes learning the historical backgrounds and recent trends of vaccine development. Students will be evaluated according to the preparation of presentation, devotion in the discussion, and oral (or Quiz) test after the presentation 임상단백질체학 Clinical Proteomics 임상단백질체학연구방법의최신 updated 분야및분석기술을강의하고이러한연구방법이임상시료에적용되어중개연구에이용될수있도록방향을제시한다. 강의할내용은다음과같다. (1) 임상시료단백질체의발현을위해 expression proteomics 기술. (2) 임상시료단백질체의 post-translational modification 인 phosphorylation, glycosylation, ubiquitina

3 tion 등의 modification 에의한단백질체변화의분석기술. (3) 임상시료단백질체의정량적인분석을위한 quantitation proteomics 방법. (4) 임상시료단백질체기능을분석하기위한방법으로는 sequence homology, structural proteomics, protein-network 을이용한 functional annotation 기술. Proteomics uses several research principles such as instrumental analysis, information analysis, statistics and other techniques. In addition, clinical proteomics has been emerging by adapting current proteomics methods with linkage to functional proteomics, protein network and system biology. To cope up with current research needs in clinical proteomics, this lecture will include several proteomics tools such as (1) expression proteomics, (2) proteomics methods to understand the post-translational modifications of phosphorylation, glycosylation and ubiqutination, and (3) function annotation tools 노화생물학 Biology of Aging 노화는나이에따라기능이저하되는생물학적과정으로세포수준에서는세포분열능이저하되고또한개체수준에서는성장과기능이나이가들어감에따라떨어지게되고결국에는죽음으로이르게된다. 노화의기본적인성상에대해기초적인강의를통하여노화된세포와노화과정전반에대한이해를증진시킨다. Aging is the biological process of age-related deterioration in function. Senescence is the process by which the capacity for cell division and the capacity for growth and function are lost over time, ultimately leading to death. Through the class, students get a better understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying the aging process 암의저산소적응에관한연구 Studies in Tumor Adaptation to Hypoxia 임상적으로발견되는종양은이미어느정도커버린상태라, 종양내저산소영역을가지고있다. 암세포는저산소적응능력이매우뛰어나저산소환경에서도생존하고혈관생성을하여지속적으로성장한다. 오히려, 암세포가저산소환경에적응하는과정에서더욱악성화되어, 세포증식이나조직침투, 암전이가증가되기도한다. 본과목에서는암세포의저산소적응기전과혈관생성기전을공부하며, 저산소적응단백질을표적으로하는항암치료의가능성을토의한다. When tumors are detected clinically, generally tumors have grown so as to make intratumoral hypoxic zone. Since tumor cells are able to adapt to hypoxia, they can survive and induce neovascularization under hypoxic environment. Sometimes, tumor cells change their characters to more aggressive during adaptation to hypoxia, which leads to accelerated growth, tissue invasion, or metastasis. In this lecture, students will study the mechanism underlying tumor adaptation to hypoxia and hypoxia-induced angiogenesis, and discuss about the hypoxia-targeting anticancer strategy A 면역질환개론 Introduction of Immune Diseases 면역계의이상으로발생하는면역질환들의발병기전에대한 연구는정상적인면역계의반응및조절기능등에대한이해를깊게하고, 또한기초면역학연구와응용분야사이의연결고리가될수있는면역학의핵심분야로인식되고있다. 본과목은특히과민반응과자가면역반응등면역반응의이상에의해발생하는질환의유전적, 환경적인원인과이를매개하는면역학적조절기전에초점을맞추어전반적인내용및각질환에대해다루게될것이며, 이를통해정상적인면역반응에대한이해를깊게하고면역학적인지식을이용하여새로운질환의진단법및치료법을개발하는데도움이되고자한다. The study of pathogenesis of immunologic disease is thought as a core area of immunology because it can make normal immunologic response understood clearly and can be the link between the basic immunologic research and its application. This lecture would focus on the genetic and environmental etiology and abnormal immunologic response of the diseases caused by mainly hypersensitivity and the autoimmunity and would include not only general aspect of immunologic disease but specific diseases. This course is intended to provide knowledge regarding tailored individual pharmacotherapy, using integrated pharmacogenomic and other relevant patient information 암유전체학 Cancer Genomics 암유전체학은발암과암억제유전자의기능을밝히고, 유전자발현을조절하는기전을연구하는학문이다. 따라서암유전체학에서는발암의병태생리기전을유전학적으로분석하고치료의표적이될수있는유전자를검색하여유전자치료의기틀을마련하는과정을배우게된다. 특히변이빈도가높고, 분자수준에서병태생리가잘이해되는유전자를중심으로현재까지어떻게기전연구가되어왔으며, 암치료를위해유전체학적으로어떻게접근하고있는가를배우게된다. 대학원생들은이러한과정을배움으로써앞으로다가올유전자치료의기본개념을알게되고, 학위논문연구에응용할수있을것으로기대된다. Cancer genomics is a science for evaluating the functions of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes and for identifying the regulation mechanism of these genes. In this lecture, students will understand cancer biology in aspect of functional genomics and study the process for developing gene therapy by searching for target genes closely related with the diseases. This lecture is expected to help student understand the concept of genome-based cancer therapy to come up and carry out their theses

Calcium homeostasis is the mechanism by which the body maintains adequate calcium concentrations. Many tissues or organs, such as duodenum, kidney, parathyroid, liver, and bone, are involved in maintaining calcium levels of the body coordinately. In addition, the abnormal calcium metabolism leading to hypocalcemia and hypercalcemia is crucially associated with a number of human diseases, including osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, cancers. The objective of this course is to understand molecular and cellular bases of viral pathogenesis. Lecture will be focused on viral replication, invasion mechanism, host signal transduction, immune responses, and viral immune evasion. Understanding of general strategies for diagnosis, treatment, and vaccination in diverse viral disease will be additional goal of this course 정신질환분자생물적기전의이해 Understaning Molecular-Biological Basis of Psychiatric Disorders 본강좌에서는정신병및기분장애의분자생물학적기전을이해하는것을목적으로한다. 항정신병약물, 항우울제, 기분조절제가신경전달물질수용체, 신호전달계, 유전자발현조절등의변화를통해뇌내중추신경계의기능및구조의변화를유발하고궁극적으로행동의변화를유발하는기전을이해한다. 또한동물모델및환자를대상으로한분자생물학적연구를통해정신질환의병리기전에대한이해를증진한다. Pathophysiology of major psychiatric illness and action mechanism of psychotropic drugs will be reviewed in the aspect of molecular biology. Regulation of neurotransmission, signal transduction, gene expression by antipsychotics, antidepressants, and mood stabilizers will be focused to understand the pathway inducing behavioral changes through functional and structural alterations of the central nervous system. Since the human genome sequencing porject has been finished, the information on genes and genomics is overflowing, providing the basis for understanding the mechanisms of human disease. Immune disorders, one of the four major human diseases, begin with the defects in genetic materials that lead to cellular disfunction and defect, and finally systemic disorder in most cases. The immunobiological meaning of each gene should be understood as the byproducts of evolution and requires in vivo model system. This lecture will focus on how to fish the genes related to immune disorders through genetics and genomics methods, mining the evolutionary meaning of each gene, and how to set up relevant model systems. This course will discuss the basic concepts and experimental application of real-time live cellular imaging techniques. Topics include the basics of optics, microscopy, confocal microscopy, two-photon microscopy, TIRF microscopy, application of fluorescence probes, CCD cameras and varioius acquisition devices, intracellular calcium imaging, and Image analysis techniques 퇴행성신경질환의병인기전 Pathogenesis of Neurodegenerative Disorder 신경계의다양성과생리및병리현상의원리에대한이해를바탕으로, (1) 인간의건강과질병을분자생물및생리학적측면에서분석하는데필요한신경에대한기초적지식습득, (2) 대표적인신경질환들의발생기전, 임상양상의다양성, 진단과치료방법에대한이해, (3) 연구에필요한최신실험기법들의원리와적용에대한구체적인학습을목적으로한다. 특히, 세포및분자 level, in vivo experimental model 및임상 level 에서의위의지식을기초로, 세부전문분야에대한최신의자료를통한수준높은강의와자유토론을통해질환의원인과발병기전을이해하고다양한 biomarker 및치료에대한최신의결과와연구동향등에대해서공부한다. 또한, 기초적, 임상적양방면을교육함으로서타학과의연구및교육활동에도응용할수있도록하고자한다. Pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorder is important to understand for development of therapeutic tools based on diverse neural systems and pathophysiological phenomena. In the present class, basic causative mechanism of neurodegenerative disease will be introduced and dissected based on recent published papers in the view of molecular, cellular and physiological experimental approaches 바이오정보의학 Biomedical Informatics and Genomic Medicine 의생명과학의탐구를위한통합적바이오정보의학의연구방법론을다룬다. 고차원자료의다변량분석, 유전자 - 대사경로지도화, 기능적유전자주석달기, 사실및문헌디비의텍스트마이닝, 분자생물학메타디비구축등이다루어진다. 각각의단계는실제진행중인연구와임상의학적적절성의맥락에서논의되며, 분자론적유전자형과임상적표현형의연결에대해논한다. Use of integrated biochip informatics technologies including multivariate data projection, gene-metabolic pathway mapping, automated biomolecular annotation, text mining of factual and literature databases, and integrated management of biomolecular databases will be discussed. Each step will be given with real examples from ongoing research activities in the context of clinical relevance. To educate the basic knowledge in regulatory mechanisms and functions of cutaneous matrix proteins 신경가소성에대한의과학적이해 Biomedical Understanding of Neural Plasticity 신경계를구성하는신경세포는탄생과죽음의과정을겪으며, 신경활성물질에의하여그성장이조절된다. 신경세포의축삭은유도물질에의하여적절한길을찾아나가다른신경세포와시냅스를형성하여정보를전달한다. 시냅스는그연결강도가신경계의활동에의존적으로강화되거나약화되는시냅스가소성을보인다. 이러한시냅스가소성은학습과기억과같은뇌의고능기능을설명하는세포기전이다. 시냅스가소성으로대표되는신경가소성은약물중독, 간질, 그리고통증과같은신경계질환이발생하는기전이기도하다. 이과목에서는이러한신경가소성의의과학적이해를도모하고자한다.
