Data w ere collected by depth interview s and interpreted through the hermeneutic circle as follow s. T hese daughters - in - law have conflict betw een social custom and subjective self. T hey had ambiv alence tow ard their demented partents- in - law and w ere fighting a battle betw een rationality and em otions in their mind. T hese daughters- in law and m others- in - law did not get along and the parents ' dementia aggrav ated the relationships. T hey w ere alienated from their family by the parents w ith dem entia. T he indifference of their family especially their husbands, m ade these subjects live in misery. T hey cared for the demented m other- in - law w ith hatred.
