Responses in the wrong language will receive no credit. 핸리의 일기 2008년 10월 4일 토요일, 맑음 내 한국 친구 인수네는 대가족이다. 할머니와 부모님, 형네 식 구와 누나가 함께 산다. 인수의 조카는 이제 한 살이다. 식구가 많으니 늘 시끄럽다. 그리고 방이 부족해서 나, 인수, 할머니가 한 방에서 같이 잔다. 그러나 식구들이 서로 돌보아 주는 점이 좋다. 집안 일도 나누어 한다. 인수의 어머니는 요리를 하시고, 할머니는 청소를 하시고, 누나는 설거지를 한다. 할머니는 내 가 막내 손자의 친구라서 특별히 사랑해 주신다. 뿐만 아니라 호주가 한국 전쟁에 참가했기 때문에 더 그렇다. 오늘 인수의 누나가 결혼을 했다. 가장 인상적인 것은 전통적 인 큰 절이었다. 인수의 누나는 시댁 식구들에게 자신을 소개 하는 뜻으로 큰 절을 바닥에서 했다. 방에는 많은 음식이 예쁘 게 놓여 있었다. 인수 어머니가 손자를 돌보느라 바쁘시면서도 열심히 만드신 음식이다. 인수 누나의 시어머니가 밤과 대추를 던지면서 아들 딸 열만 낳아라! 하셨다. Responses in the wrong language will receive no credit. 후회 민자는 무거운 책가방을 바닥에 던지고 문 앞에 털석 주저 앉았다. 늘 가방에 넣고 다니는 열쇠가 아무리 찾아도 없는 것이다. 꼬르륵거리는 배를 움켜쥐고 기다리는 수밖에. 한참 후에 집에 돌아오던 옆 집 아주머니를 만나 겨우 비상 열쇠 를 빌렸다. 조용한 집에 들어오니 좋았다. 부엌을 뒤졌지만 아무 것도 먹을 것이 없어 라면을 끓여 먹었다. 혼자 쓸쓸해 진 민자는 거실에 텔레비전을 크게 틀어놓았다. 컴퓨터방에 가서 숙제를 했다. 엄마가 늦게 오시면서 아이스크림을 사 오셨다. 민자는 문을 꽝 닫고 자기 방으로 들어가 버렸다. 연락도 없이 늦게 온 엄 마에게 짜증이 난 것이다. 좋아하는 아이스크림도 먹지 않았 다. 엄마가 여러 번 불러도 못 들은 척했다. 밤 늦게 문득 배가 많이 고파진 민자는 맛있는 아이스크림 생각이 났다. 엄마한 테 들키지 않으려고 살금살금 부엌으로 나갔다. 냉장고 문을 막 열려고 할 때 엄마가 아침에 적어 놓은 작은 쪽지를 발견 했다. 엄마 오늘 늦게 올 거다. 전자렌지 안에 피자 있다. 그 순간 후회로 가득한 민자의 얼굴이 붉어지고 말았다.
