3 Safety Instructions 1 Please read this carefully for the safety before using the device. The indicated cautions are related to the safety and you should observe all safety and warning instructions. Symbols (Pictograms) and the meaning This symbol indicates caution (Including warning). There will be concrete descriptions. This symbol indicates inhibition regarding modification. This symbol indicates the risk of explosion or fire. This symbol indicates inhibition. There will be concrete description. This symbol indicates caution regarding heat. This symbol indicates the user must be kept away while operation. Please read following warning for safety and proper use. WARNING Do not use a power source other than which the unit is designed to operate on. Inappropriate power supply may result in damage to the equipment. Adhere to all electrical codes. Please do not touch with wet hands. It may be caused an electric shock. Do not handle the power cord harshly. Disconnection or short may cause if you bend or put a heavy thing on the device. 4 Insert the plug securely into a wall socket. Loose connections result in excessive heat generation to the device and may cause arcing to occur at the connection. Avoid using multi-point extension power cords. It may cause excessive heat generation and be the cause of a fire. If you extend the power cord, use the cord to have sufficient electric capacity. Be sure to operate the device only with the specified power supply. When you connect the product specified by 100V to 200V, it may be caused to over-heat, electric shock or a short circuit to each part. Do not connect wrong electricity since it is the cause of a fire. Disconnect the power supply plug if the unit is not going to be used for an extended period of time. 5 Before Use 2 Thank you very much for purchase of WiseSpin CF-10 Centrifuge. This operation manual describes performance, proper usage, cautions and notices for use of the purchased product. Before use, please confirm this manual and use properly. Please read carefully and thoroughly all the safety instructions described in the Section 1 again. And also, please keep this manual. Modifications of exterior, interior, mechanism, electric/electronics or any other specifications could be made without notice to improve the quality and performance of the product. 10 Installation 7 1. After receiving the unit and putting it on the specified place of use remove the wrapping. 2. Check the unit whether there are eventual transport damages or not. In case there are some transport damages found please inform the forwarder and your contractor. If there is no damage, please go to next point Push the Lid Clamp and open the lid. You can find the rotor, CFAR1512 (12 x 1.5/2.0 ml tubes) equipped in the centrifuging room. Please check carefully if there is anything wrong including loose fixing of the rotor or leaning of the rotor. In case there is any kind of damage found, please inform the forwarder and your contractor. If you cannot find anything wrong, please go to next point Connect the main power cord to the socket. 11 WARNING Place the device on a level, horizontal surface to support the capacity of the device without vibration. Do not install at a dangerous place. Do not operate the device where there are flammables. It could be caused serious accidents like explosion or fire. Do not operate the device outside. Avoid areas where the sun shines or rain directly on the device. It is very dangerous as cause over-heat or a short circuit. Do not tilt or lay down the device, and do not impact the body of the device. The device includes shock-sensitive motor and structures, which could be damaged by the tilt or impact. Do not install the device where it can get damp or dust. It may be caused overheating, a short circuit or a fire by damp or dust inside of the device. Do not use this device when temperature falls below 10 C and rise above 40 C. In door use only. Do not use the device at a place with high temperature. Do not operate the device near a heater, blowing an air-conditioner. It may be caused an accident by overheating of the motor. The device should be set at a well ventilated place. Be sure the holes on the side or bottom surface of the body are not blocked by some obstacles. Do not operate the device at a poor ventilated place or use closed. It may cause a fire or damage of the device as not to release heat or insufficient ventilation may result. Set the device a lightening place. When you set the device at a dark place, it may cause an unexpected accident by mistake in operation. If you want to run the machine for a long time, the rubber cap for the air hole in the lid should be removed before operation. If you run the machine for too long time with the air hole in the lid closed by rubber cap, it may cause damage to temperature sensitive samples. WiseSpin CF-10 Personal Table-top Centrifuge 11/37

12 Cautions in Use 8 WARNING Be careful to operate the device. You MUST read this manual carefully and completely before using. The device should only be operated by laboratory personnel especially trained for this purpose and familiar with all precautionary measures required for working in a laboratory. If unexpected sound, smell or smog is generated after connecting electric power, pull out the main plug and contact manufacturer or a supplier. Do not put any objects insides. When an object that is easy to be combustible is like a stone, a metal or paper goes insides, it may cause a fire, an electric shock or a break down. If do, pull out the mains plug from a socket and contact a manufacturer or a supplier. Do not disassemble or remodeling by yourself. It may cause damage to the designed safety. We do not have any duties for an accident, quality deterioration or a defect caused by a customer. All the mechanisms and electric/electronic devices in this machine are designed and developed by the manufacturer. The devices could be disassembled and serviced only by the engineers of manufacturer or by engineers approved by manufacturer. Do not touch the device with wet hand while operation. Do not turn on and off frequently. It could damage the electronic part. This device must be connected to an earthed power supply. WiseSpin CF-10 Personal Table-top Centrifuge 12/37

13 CAUTION Before every centrifugation operation, check that the rotor is completely and tightly fixed at the motor axis. Before every centrifugation operation, check that the lid is completely closed by the lid clamp. Do not open the door during rotation. Rotor will stop by safety system. But it needs 12 to 15 seconds. If you touch angle rotor before stop, may result serious injury. Basically, you MUST make the balance of angle rotor in loading sample to rotor. If you want to use the maximum rotor speed (13,500 rpm) for centrifugation, you SHOULD make the sample weight to fill up to two decimal places (i.e., 0.00g precision). If you don t keep this basic instruction, you can have a serious problem of the machine, and so it leads to an accident as well. Allow the rotation speed to slow zero before opening the lid when the centrifugation is finished. Please be careful that liquid should not penetrate into the part of control panel or back plane. Do not use flammable material. Flammable materials or Chemicals must not be used in order to avoid an explosion or a fire. Please avoid ultrasonic lamps. The unit could be cracked or faded. Disconnect the power supply plug if the unit is not going to be used for an extended period of time. WiseSpin CF-10 Personal Table-top Centrifuge 13/37

14 Operation 9 1. Power-On Turn on the power, and then get into its default mode. Install sample to rotor and close door completely. 2. Mode Selection You can change the mode by the combination of MODE button 13, SPIN button 14 and Jogshuttle knob 15 push. WiseSpin CF-10 Personal Table-top Centrifuge 14/37

15 SV 8 and PV 9 have different meanings for each operation mode. It is shown in the following <Table 1>. Set Rotation Speed Mode After you turn on the power, the default mode of the unit is Set Rotation Speed mode. (NOTE) Please check carefully if the lid is completely closed before running. If the lid is not closed completely, the unit will not run by safety system. You can find zero or non-zero value of the SV rpm on LCD and ROTATION lamp 11 is blinking. If the SV is non-zero, it means that someone had saved a value previously by storage function. You can use this saved value or you can modify the value by turning the jogshuttle knob 15. Simply by clicking jog-shuttle, the unit begins to revolve at the set rpm. If the SV is 0, it means there is not the value saved previously. You can adjust the set rpm by turning jog-shuttle knob 15. RPM adjustment and Running: When you turn the jog-shuttle knob 15 for adjustment of rpm SV, the set value is changed. Click (push shortly) the jog-shuttle knob 15 to start rotational operation (centrifugation), then ROTATION lamp 11 is ON. Rotation rpm (PV) will goes up to set rpm (SV). Once the rpm PV reaches to rpm SV (within a few seconds), timer starts with its set WiseSpin CF-10 Personal Table-top Centrifuge 15/37

16 value and TIMER lamp 12 is ON. (rpm SV on the upper line of LCD changes to the value of remaining time). If you set timer SV to 0 before running the rotation, rotation will operate continuously without stopping unless you stop the rotation operation by clicking jog-shuttle knob in Set Rotation Speed mode. If you want to change the rpm SV, you have to stop the centrifugation by clicking jog-shuttle knob again. (Remaining time display changes to rpm SV. ROTATION lamp 11 is blinking and TIMER lamp 12 is OFF). Once stopping, you can adjust rpm again, and then click the jog-shuttle again to restart. In this case, timer will be reset to its SV, and the timer restarts from the beginning as well after reaching to target RPM. (NOTE) Control resolution is 100 rpm and maximum rpm is 13,500. Stop and Restart : If you click the jog-shuttle knob during rotation operation in Set Rotation Speed mode, the unit stops rotation and it completely stops after approximately 15 seconds (When you set SV to maximum specification 13,500 rpm). If you click again in this stop status, the unit will restart to operate. Saving current SV : You could save the current rpm SV for re-use in the next time by pushing jog-shuttle knob for one second. The unit stores the set value in nonvolatile memory, so you could re-use it afterwards. 4. Set Timer Mode You can use internal digital timer to make the operation preserved for a certain period of time. If you push MODE button 13 in Set Rotation Speed mode, you can enter into the Set Timer mode. You can find zero or non-zero value of the timer SV on LCD and TIMER lamp 12 is blinking. If the SV is non-zero, it means that someone had saved a value previously by storage function. You can use this saved value or you can modify the value by turning the jogshuttle knob 15. If the SV is 0, it means there is not value saved previously. You can adjust the timer SV by turning jog-shuttle knob 15. Timer adjustment and running Timer : When you turn the jog-shuttle knob 15 for adjustment WiseSpin CF-10 Personal Table-top Centrifuge 16/37

17 of timer SV, the set values is changed. Timer will automatically begin to run, at the moment that the rpm PV reaches to rpm SV by the Rotation operation. Saving current SV : You could save the current timer SV for the re-use in next time by pushing the jog-shuttle knob for one second. The unit stores the set value in nonvolatile memory, so you could re-use it afterwards. If you finish setting timer, push MODE button. you can enter into the Locking mode. (NOTE) Timer resolution is 1 second and maximum timer value is 99min 59sec. If you set timer to 0, rotation will be continued without stopping. 5. Locking Mode If you push MODE button in Set Timer mode, the unit enters into Safety Locking mode. In this mode, the PVs of rpm and timer are shown on LCD. And any action (turn or push) to jog-shuttle knob is disabled and pushing SPIN button is also disabled. So, the operator can prevent the unit from change of the operation by mistake and can monitor the operation safely. If you push the MODE button 13 again in this mode, the unit enters into the Set Rotation Speed mode. 6. SPIN mode This mode is very convenient for repetitive use of a certain combination of rotation speed & time. If you push SPIN button 14 in Set Rotation Speed mode or in Set Timer mode, the unit enters into the SPIN mode. By simply clicking the jog-shuttle knob at this moment, the unit starts operation promptly with the rotation speed and timer SVs saved previously. If you want to change the SVs of rotation speed and timer, push the jog-shuttle knob for one second. Then the unit enters into the Set SPIN Rotation Speed mode. Like in the Set Rotation Speed mode, you can change the rpm by turning jog-shuttle knob. After setup the rotation speed, push the SPIN button again (Save & go to next set up), then the current set rpm is saved and the unit enters into the Set SPIN Timer mode. Like in the Set Timer mode, you can change the timer SV by turning jog-shuttle knob. After setup the timer, push the SPIN button once again (Save & go to next set up), then the current timer SV is saved and the unit enters into the Set SPIN Rotation Speed mode again. When you finished setup of the rotation speed and timer for SPIN operation, push the jog-shuttle WiseSpin CF-10 Personal Table-top Centrifuge 17/37

18 knob for one second for returning to SPIN mode. By clicking the jog-shuttle knob, the unit starts operation promptly with the rotation speed and timer SVs saved just before. WiseSpin CF-10 Centrifuge offers two different types of SPIN mode operation. The one is Timer-based operation (with non-zero value of SPIN timer SV) and the other is One Shot operation (with zero-value of SPIN timer SV). If you set SPIN Timer to 0, the unit operates to reach SPIN rpm SV and then stops rotation immediately after the SPIN rpm PV reaches to SPIN rpm SV. This operation is very convenient for simple Spin-Down purpose. (It takes approximately 15 seconds to start, run and stop for spin-down operation, when your SPIN rpm SV is 6,000) If you want to return to normal operation mode, push the MODE button. 7. Power off After you complete to use the unit, you must turn off the power switch for your safety. (NOTE) If you open the lid during rotation, the unit will automatically stop the operation for user safety. Do not open the door during rotation!! 20 Maintenance If you don t use the device for a long time, please plug out, dry up the machine and keep with packing. 2. When you need exchange of a component for repair, you MUST use an original component provided by manufacturer. 3. In the warranty period specified on the warranty sheet included in this operation manual, breakdown of the machine in spite of normal/proper use will be treated by manufacturer or by an official agent of manufacturer. 4. The manufacturer or its agent is not in charge of breakdown caused by abnormal use or by ignoring the warnings and cautions described in this manual. 5. Before cleaning the machine, please be sure to pull the power cord off. 6. For cleaning of the machine, we recommend you to use neutral detergent and soft cloth. 31 ii. 설정값이 0 이라면, 이것은이전에아무값도저장되어있지않았다는 의미이며, 이상태에서는조그셔틀을돌려설정값변경이가능합니다. RPM 조정 : 조그셔틀스위치를돌려원하는속도를설정후조그셔틀스위치를 클릭하면회전 - 원심분리동작을시작하며 ROTATOIN ( 회전동작 ) LED 11 가 켜집니다. 이어곧목적 rpm 에도달하게되면이미저장된타이머가자동으로 동작을하며 TIMER LED 12 가켜집니다 (LCD 창의현재 RPM 표시가남은타이머 값으로변경 ). 만약타이머값을 0 으로설정했었다면회전동작은멈춤을 조작하기전까지영구히동작합니다. 만약동작중에회전속도를변경하여다시동작을시키고싶다면조그셔틀스위치를 눌러동작을먼저멈춘후에속도설정을다시할수있습니다. 이때 TIMER LED 12 는꺼지고 ROTATION LED 11 가다시깜박거리며동작했던타이머또한초기화 ( 설정값으로복귀 ) 됩니다. 재설정을마치고다시회전동작을시작하면목적 RPM 도달후타이머또한설정값으로부터다시동작합니다. (Control resolution: 100 rpm for speed) 정지와재시작 : 동작시키기전에도어가잠겼는지다시한번확인하시기 바랍니다. 만약도어가완전히잠기지않았다면기기는안전장치에의해 동작하지않습니다. 장비가회전동작모드에서회전동작을할때조그셔틀을 클릭하면회전을멈춥니다 ( 최고속도에서완전정지까지 15 초이하소요 ). 32 정지상태에서다시조그셔틀을클릭해주면다시회전을시작합니다. ( 정지상태에서최대속도까지 15 초이하소요 ). 현재설정값저장 : 조그셔틀스위치를 1 초동안누름으로써현재설정된회전속도 (rpm 값 ) 가장비내부의메모리에저장됩니다. 이값은전원을껐다가다시켠 다음에도계속장비에저장되어있어또다른조절없이편리하게이용하실수 있습니다 4. 타이머 mode 타이머 mode 는원하는시간 ( 설정시간 ) 동안만동작을하게하고설정시간 이후에는동작을멈추게하는기능을설정하는 mode 입니다. 타이머모드가 선택되면 TIMER LED 12 가깜박거립니다. LCD 상위표시창에는만일기존장비 내에저장된설정된값 ( 설정시간 ) 이있다면설정값이표시되고, 설정된값이 없다면 0 이표시됩니다. 타이머설정 / 작동 : 타이머를설정하기위해서 mode 선택버튼을눌러타이머설정 mode 로들어갑니다. 조그셔틀을돌려원하는설정시간을맞추면됩니다. 33 타이머설정은 1 초간격으로설정이가능하며최대입력값은 99 분 59 초입니다. 만약타이머설정을 0 으로하면회전동작은멈춤동작을하기전까지영구히 계속됩니다. 설정시간저장 : 마찬가지로타이머모드에서조그셔틀스위치를 1 초동안누르면 현재설정시간이장비내부의메모리에저장됩니다. 이값은전원을내렸다가켠 다음에도계속장비에저장되어있습니다. 5. Locking mode RPM 과타이머설정및동작시작후, mode 전환버튼 13 클릭하여장비를 Locking 모드상태로설정할수있습니다. Locking 모드에서장비는현재측정 rpm 과잔여 시간을표시해주며, 모드전환버튼을제외한조그셔틀스위치로부터의어떠한 입력도무시합니다. Locking 모드에서벗어나고자하면 mode 전환버튼을눌러주면 됩니다. 6. 34 회전속도와시간으로동작을시작합니다. 스핀다운동작의회전속도와동작시간을조절하려면조그셔틀스위치를 1 초간 눌러주십시오. 조그셔틀스위치를이용해 SPIN DOWN 동작을위한회전속도를 설정할수있습니다. 회전속도셋팅이끝난후에 SPIN button 14 ( 저장및다음단계이동 ) 을누르면 회전속도값이저장이되고타이머조절모드로들어갑니다. 조그셔틀스위치를이용해타이머값을설정한후, SPIN button 14 ( 저장및 다음단계이동 ) 을다시한번누르면타이머값이저장되고다시회전속도조절 모드가표시됩니다. 모든셋팅이완료가되고마치기위해선조그셔틀스위치를 다시 1 초간눌러줍니다. 스핀다운모드로다시돌아가게되며조그셔틀을누르면 ( 클릭 ) 조절한값으로 스핀다운동작이가능합니다.
