Before you start... bismillah Purify your intention... make sure that you are seeking this knowledge purely for the sake and pleasure of Allah (SWT) Have a plan... break up the tasks in order to give each section its due attention and time. Use the PDP PROGRESS TRACKER (on page 12) as a guide to help allocate time for your study Make notes... write down or voice record what you have learnt so you can start to learn the material in more depth. Note down questions... if you have a question about any of the material or if something is not clear, investigate it further, ask a person of knowledge or bring the question to the next course for it to be answered. و ص ى ح ق ق ROOT LETTERS MEANING ESSENTIAL READING -, ا* ) $%& (!" HUQ TAWAASEE BIL Tawaasee - to commend, to recommend, to urge, advise, to make a will, to prescribe, exhort. The Arabic construct of this term refers to the bilateral/mutual interaction between two parties hence the term refers to the giving of sincere advise one to the other prior to the occurrence of an imminent event. Huq - to be true, to be right, to be necessary, real, and actual. This term can refer to one of the following: a. That Being which creates based on purpose and wisdom i.e. ALLAH. b. That which actually exists i.e. it is a reality and not a mirage. c. That which is rationally sound. d. That which is seen as a moral obligation. OTHER TERMS RELATED TO TAWAASEE BIL HUQ IN THE QURAN ا< 3 ) & 3= 7 وف و ; : ( 8 9 ا 3 45 7 munkar: i. Amar bil ma roof wa nahee anil This is translated as commanding good and forbidding evil and refers to a very rich and comprehensive concept of mutual concern and advice through which the human race can mutually maintain the balance in existence through correction, advice, exhortation and assistance. On the authority of Abu Sa eed al-khudree (ra) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say, Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart - and that is the weakest of faith. [Sahih Muslim] ii. Shahadah ala an-naas ا% T5D &س ) C 9 : &د ة z This refers to the bearing witness unto mankind i.e. bearing witness in front of Allah that His message which He revealed to His Messenger Muhammad(saw) has been clearly and plainly conveyed to the rest of humanity. ln 4 p إذ ا & 5DI Z 8 > ]! أ< ST QN: ( و G ~ؤ ) C 9 H ( & 5DI Z ء : QN ا z So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad] against these [people] as a witness? (An-Nisa 4:41) و [ % H F 4 5C = Z أ < ST وa 4 UD!%& r,;,اz : Q آءC 9 ( ا % D & T 5 س وL 4,ن اaT3%,ل : QN ا z F 4N C 9 And thus we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you. (Al-Baqarah 2:143) Last Statement of the Last Sermon of the Final Messenger (saw) All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly.
