1. Best track 개요 태풍 Best track은태풍예보상황에서실황분석자료로활용되지못했던자료들을확보하여보다정밀하게재분석된사후태풍정보이다. 다수의연구 개발이태풍예보에초점을맞추어이루어지고있지만정작중요한부분이태풍분석분야이며태풍분석의최종결정체가 Best track이라고할수있다. 즉, 안정적인태풍예보시스템과태풍 Best track을갖추어야만태풍분석 예보의완전체를형성한다고할수있다. 태풍예보정확도향상을위해태풍의위치 강도 크기등을종합재분석한 Best track은 2008년국가태풍센터개소이후지속적으로요구되어왔다. 이를부응하기위하여국가태풍센터는우선과제로태풍 5일예보를수행하며예보의안정성을확보하였고, 2013년부터태풍재분석매뉴얼과가이던스를마련하여태풍분석시스템을개발하기시작하였다. 2014년 3월에매뉴얼과가이던스에의해분석된 2013년영향태풍 Best track을시범발표하며축적된기술을태풍분석시스템에적용하였다. 2015년 3월에는독자적으로개발한시스템을통하여 2014년영향태풍 Best track 을정식발표하였고기술을한층고도화하여태풍분석시스템을완성하였다. 태풍재분석매뉴얼 태풍분석시스템 이와같이 3년간의준비와개발을통해완성된독자적인태풍분석시스템을통하여 2015년북서태평양에서발생한모든태풍에대한재분석을수행하였고태풍예보관, 총괄예보관, 국가기상위성센터, 기상레이더센터, 외부전문가들의면밀한검토를거친후 Best track을최종완성하였다. 재분석기간은열대저압부 (ftd) 부터태풍그리고온대저기압으로변질또는열대저압부로약화되는과정까지이며, 기본 6시간간격으로분석되었지만영향태풍의경우비상구역진입이후부터 3시간간격으로재분석이수행되었다. 재분석요소는 0.1 단위의중심위치와 1hPa단위의중심기압그리고 1m s단위의 10분평균풍속이다. 강풍반경의경우는차후재분석을통해보완할계획이다. - 2 -
Best track을위한재분석은 - 1단계 : 위성 레이더 자동기상관측자료 (AWS) 전지구관측자료 (GTS) 등최대한많은관측자료를수집하고하나의데이터베이스에저장 - 2단계 : 태풍의중심위치 ( 강도 ) 로추정되는신뢰구간을축소하는방법으로분석수행 - 3단계 : 자료의신뢰도가높은순으로 Best track 결정 - 4단계 : 전체적인경로 ( 강도변화 ) 에따라가장자연스러운진로 ( 강도 ) 로곡선화 - 5단계 : 모든재분석자료저장및 Best track 파일생성과정으로이루어진다. 자료별분석방법은 - 가시 / 적외영상 : 주관적드보락기법분석과동영상을활용한하층순환중심판별 - 극궤도영상 : 마이크로파위성영상을활용한열대저기압분석법 - 레이더영상 : 레이더기반태풍추적및감시 - GTS 전문 : 태풍위원회운영매뉴얼 (Typhoon Committee Operational Manual) - 지상 / 해상관측 : 주변최대풍속및최저해면기압공간분포및시계열분석과정에따라면밀하게검토된다. 위와같은단계를거쳐분석된 2015년태풍 Best track은태풍예보관들의교차검토과정후전문가심의를거쳤다. 태풍 Best track은정확한분석자료를구축하여완전한태풍시스템을구축하였다는점에서의미가있다고할수있다. 미군합동태풍경보센터 (JTWC) 는 Best track 발표시기가일정하지는않지만다음해 6~9월중에발표를하며, 일본기상청은태풍종료후 6주이내에개별태풍 Best track을발표하고있다. 기상청이독자적으로개발한분석시스템을통하여 Best track을생산함으로써태풍예보관의태풍분석기술을배양하고, 효율적인사후활용과국제적위상제고를위한독자적태풍분석데이터베이스기반이마련되었다. 독자적인태풍 Best track은관련학계태풍연구발전에도기여할것으로기대된다. 향후태풍분석시스템으로 2008년국가태풍센터개소이후발생한과거태풍 Best track 분석을실시할예정이다. - 3 -
