1 Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society Vol. 13, No. 3 pp , 경량충진제및무기계난연제첨가 polyurethane 복합발포체제조및특성 강동락 1* 1 호서대학교안전공학과 Preparation and Characterization of Lightweight Fillers and Inorganic Flame Retardants are Added Polyurethane Composite Foam Dong-rak, Kang 1* 1 Department of Safety Engineering, Hoseo University 요약본연구는순수 Polyurethane과일반적인난연제인 Al(OH) 3 및 Mg(OH) 2 를첨가한 sample과 Cloisite Na+, Cloisite 15A를첨가한 sample의난연성및기계적특성을비교하였다. 또한 Sodium silicate와 Polyurethane을혼합한것에경량성충진제인 Vermiculite, Perlite를충진한 sample의난연성및기계적특성을확인하였다. 그결과, Cloisite Na+ 와 Cloisite 15A를첨가한 sample과 Sodium silicate를혼합한 sample에서난연제를첨가한것과같은등급의난연성을확인하였다. 인장강도는 filler의양이증가함에따라저하되었으나, sodium silicate를첨가한 sample의경우다른 sample 보다강도가향상됨을확인하였다. Abstract In this study, pure Polyurethane and commonly used flame retardants Al(OH) 3 and Mg(OH) 2, the add-in sample and Cloisite Na +, Cloisite 15A added sample of flammability and mechanical properties are compared. Sodium silicate and a mixture of polyurethane that the lightweight filler Vermiculite, Perlite addition of flame retardant and mechanical properties of the sample was confirmed. As a result, the flame retardant additive in the Vermiculite and Perlite in a flame-retardant grade sample except sample were identified. Tensile strength is degrade accord to the filler amount. But, Sodium silicate in the case of the sample add-in, other than confirmed that the sample strength increases. Key Words : Polyurethane, Flame retardants, Lightweight filler 1. 서론 Polyurethane은내약품성, 내마모성, 기계적특성이우수하며여러형태의변화가가능하여접착제, 도료, 건축자재, 자동차내장재, 생활용품등현대산업의고분자소재중널리이용되고있다. 그러나화재시급격한연소반응과유해물질이생성되어건강보건및안전상문제의해결에필요한난연화기술의연구가시급한실정이다.[1-4] 위와같은문제점을해결하기위한방법으로는 isocyanurate 반응으로 Polyurethane의물성을개질하여내열성이강한 Polyisoctanurate(PIR) 을제조하는방법, 유기물인 halogen계및인계난연제첨가하는방법, 그리고무기계난연제및억연제로사용되는 Aluminum Trihydeate, Magnesium Hydroxide등의무기물을첨가하는방법이있다.[5,6] 이중일반적인고분자소재난연화기술로는난연제를첨가하는방법으로유기계 halogen화합물을첨가하는방 * 교신저자 : Dong-rak, Kang Tel: diakdr@hanmail.net 접수일 12 년 01 월 11 일수정일 (1 차 12 년 02 월 08 일, 2 차 12 년 02 월 21 일 ) 게재확정일 12 년 03 월 08 일 955

2 한국산학기술학회논문지제 13 권제 3 호, 2012 법과무기계난연제및억연제로사용되는 Aluminum Trihydeate, Magnesium Hydroxide을첨가하는방법을이용하고있으나, 유기계화합물첨가방식의경우환경오염및건강에유해하여유럽등에서사용금지가되었으며, 무기계난연제는난연성증대를위하여 50% 을충진되어야하기때문에사용제품의기계적특성및유연성, 경제성의문제가발생된다.[7-8] 기존의난연제의단점을보완하기위해일본의도요타자동차중앙연구소에서최초개발된나노복합재료인 Montmorillonite와건축및원예농업등각종산업에서소재로사용되는 Vermiculite, Perlite가부각되고있다.[9] 본연구에서는기존의대표적난연제인 Aluminum Trihydeate, Magnesium Hydroxide를첨가한 Polyurethane 발포성형체와천연 Montmorillonite를정제하여 4가 Ammonium으로변성한 Cloisite 15A와변성을하지않은정제 Montmorillonite인 Cloisite Na+ 를첨가한성형체를제조하여 morphology, flammability test, tensile strength test를시행하여난연화기술로의적용가능성을확인하였다. 또한, 추가적으로 Sodium silicate base상에서 Polyurethane를발포하여경량 Vermiculite와 Perlite을충진한성형체를제조하여하여강도및난연성증가여부를분석하였다. 2. 실험 2.1 실험재료 본연구에서는 Rigid Polyurethane의재료인 Polyester Polyol[ 국도화학 ( 주 ), SC-455] 와 Methylene Diphenyl Isocyanate(MDI)[Basf, M-20S] 을사용하였다. 난연성을위한첨가제로는변성된 Cloisite 15A[( 주 )Nanokor, Cloisite Series 15A] 와변성되지않은 Cloisite Na+[ ( 주 )Nanokor, Cloisite Series Na+] 를사용하였으며, 그특성은 Table2에표기하였다. 또한무기계난연제인 Aluminum Trihydeate[KC( 주 ), KH-25R Al(OH) 3] 와 Magnesium Hydroxide[ 삼광 ( 주 ), 600mesh Mg(OH) 2] 를이용하였으며, Table 4. 과같은특성을지닌팽창 Vermiculite[ 미성산업 ( 주 )] 와팽창 Perlite[( 주 ) 경동케미컬 ] 을사용하였다. 추가적으로 Sodium silicate[( 주 ) 영일화성, 3호 ] 을첨가하여난연성및강도보강여부를확인하였다. 그특성은 Table 5. 를통해알수있다. 결과및고찰 없었다. 무기계난연제첨가성형체의경우 Al(OH) 3, Mg(OH) 2 의첨가량이높을수록난연성이우수하였다. Closite Na+ 및 Closite 15A의경우난연성은확인되었으나첨가량에따른등급향상은나타나지않았다.

1 Morphology 본연구의성형체의구조적특성을파악하기위해 microscope를통하여순수 Polyurethane 성형체와난연제첨가형, Sodium silicate 첨가형및경량 Inorganic filler 충진형성형체의 morphology를확인하였을때, Fig.

filler의경우 Vermiculite, Perlite의분산은일정하였으나 porosity의크기는균일하지못하였다. Sodium silicate 첨가성형체의경우 filler의미첨가시일정한 porosity를확인되었으나, Filler의첨가후불균 3.

Closite Na+ 및 Closite 15A의경우난연성은확인되었으나첨가량에따른등급향상은나타나지않았다. Sodium silicate 첨가성형체는모든 sample에서 MF-1의난연등급이나타남으로서우수한난연성을나타내었다. 3.1 Morphology 본연구의성형체의구조적특성을파악하기위해 microscope를통하여순수 Polyurethane 성형체와난연제첨가형, Sodium silicate 첨가형및경량 Inorganic filler 충진형성형체의 morphology를확인하였을때, Fig. 3과같이 Polyurethane과각각의 filler들의분산및 porosity의크기및형상을확인하였을때, Al(OH) 3, Mg(OH) 2 와 Cloisite 15A, Cloisite Na+ 가첨가된경우 Polyurethane과 filler의결합은확인되었으나균일한 porosity는나타나지않았으며, 경량 filler의경우 Vermiculite, Perlite의분산은일정하였으나 porosity의크기는균일하지못하였다. Sodium silicate 첨가성형체의경우 filler의미첨가시일정한 porosity를확인되었으나, Filler의첨가후불균 3.3 Tensile strength 본연구에서제작된성형체를 ASTM D3574 규격의거하여 Table 7. 과같은 tensile strength의결과를측정할수있었다. 그결과, 모든 sample에서 filler의첨가량에따라 tensile strength가감소하는현상을볼수있었다. 그이유로는 polyol의 filler에흡착됨으로서 Polyurethane 의발포반응의저하의요인으로 porosity의형성및강도를감소시킨것으로사료된다. Sodium silicate만첨가된 sample의경우첨가량에따라증가되었으나 Perlite를같이첨가한 sample의경우현저히감소되는현상을보였다. 이러한현상은강도보안을위한 Sodium silicate를첨가한경우건조시간동안 Sodium silicate가유리화되어강도향상이이루어진것으로사료된다. Fig. 4에그결과 958
