Air and water temperature, wind speed, sunshine hours and precipitation were major factors affecting yearly variability in laver production at the Nakdong River Estuary. Lower air and water temperatures together with higher levels of nutrients and sunshine and stronger wind speeds resulted in higher laver harvests. and nitrogen did not show clear correlations with laver production, mainly due to the plentiful supply of nitrogen from river discharge and the low frequency of environmental measurements, which resulted in low statistical confidence. However, environmental factors affecting monthly laver production were related to the life cycle (culturing stage) of Porphyra yezoensis and were somewhat different from factors affecting annual laver production. In November, a young laver needs lower water temperatures for rapid growth, while a mature laver needs much stronger winds and more sunshine, as well as lower temperatures for massive production and effective photosynthesis, mostly in December and January. However, in spring (March), more stable environments with fewer fluctuations in air temperature are needed to sustain the production of newly deployed culture-nets ( nd time culture). These results indicate that rapid changes in weather and marine environments caused by global climate change will negatively affect laver production and, thus, to sustain the yield of and predict future variability in laver production at the Nakdong River estuary, environmental variation around laver culturing farms needs to be monitored with high resolution in space and time. Temporal variations of water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen (DO), dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), phosphate, silicate, chemical oxygen demand (COD), and Chlorophyll-a at Nakdong River Estuary from to surveyed by the project of nationwide (a) environmental marine monitoring network (circle and dotted line (moving(b) averageof points), and by this study from to (x in red). 8 기상 및 해양환경 자료 DIN (μmol L-) 전국 연안환경의 지속관리를 위해 국가적 규모 996년부터 연안의 약 개 정점에서 로 실시된 해양환경측정망은 전국 환경조사를 지속적(년 회)으로 실시하고 있다. 낙동강 하구는 부산권 해역에 포함되어 - 정점 조사되었으 (c)년 이전에는 나, 년부터 특별관리해역으로 분류되어 조사정점이 총 개로 확대되었다(Fig. ). 해양환경측정망의 낙동강 하구정점 8 은 김 양식해역과 본 연구의 조사 정점 보다 다소 외해에 위치하 나(김 양식장과 직선으로 약 -7 km 거리), 낙동강 환경변화를 6 대변할 수 있는 유일한 장기 해양환경 모니터링 자료이다. 따라 서 김 생산량 자료와 비교하기 위해 년 월부터 년 월까지의 관측 자료를 활용하였다(국가해양환경정보통합시스 템, CID (mg L-) 는 현장에서 용존산소용 병에 채수하고, 차 고정시약으로 고 6 정 후, 실험실로 옮겨 적정기(Dosimat 876 system, Metrohm, Switzerland)로 적정하였다(Parsons et al., 98). 한편 다목적 수질측정기 (YSI6, YSI, USA)는 현장에 나가기 전에 검교 동일조건에서 정을 하고, 실험실에서 y = CTD (9plus, Sea-Bird USA)와 비교 측정 후 보정하였다. Dotted circle point is excluded in calculation of correlation. 은 하구의 특성상 시공간적인 변화가 크기 때문에 김 생산량과 는 상관성이 없는 것으로 나타났다(Fig. ). 이는 김의 특성상 염 분 변화에 잘 적응하는 성질이 있으며, 특히 낙동강 하구의 주 생산종인 방사무늬-김은 다른 종에 비해 고염분에서 잘 자라므 로(Jang, ) 김 양식에 적합한 해수 비중(.-.)에 비 해 염분이 높고 시공간적 변화가 큰 낙동강하구에서도 생장이 양호한 것으로 생각된다. 한편 김의 생장에 필요한 영양성분인 질소와 생산량 사이에도 큰 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다 (Fig. ). 이는 앞에서 언급한 것과 같이, 낙동강 하구의 경우, 무 기질소 농도는 김의 황백화가 유발되는 최소 농도( µmol L-) 보다 항상 높게 유지되고 있기 때문에 상관관계가 없는 것으로 판단된다. Jang ()은 총질소 농도가 µg L- (약 7 µmol L-) 이상에서 양질의 김이 생산된다고 하였으며, 본 연구에서 김의 생육시기에 조사한 용존무기질소의 최소 농도는 9 µmol L-로 나타났으며, 평균 농도는 약 µmol L-이었다. 따라서 낙동강 하구는 풍부한 질소성분으로 인해 양질의 김 생산에 최 적의 환경을 유지하였다. 낙동강 하구의 엽록소 a 농도와 김 생산량은 비교적 높은 상 관성을 보였다(r=., Fig. ). 김 생장에 적합한 환경조건에 서는 일차생산을 하는 식물플랑크톤도 생장이 원활하게 되므 로 김 생산량이 높을수록 엽록소 a 농도도 높았던 것으로 유추 된다. 따라서 엽록소 a는 김 생산량에 영향을 미치는 인자는 아 니지만 김 생산량 변동을 간접적으로 알려주는 지시자로 인식 할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. 그러나 이 같은 현상은 낙동강과 같이 영양염이 풍부한 환경에서만 적용 가능한 것으로, 영양염 이 부족하여 김 황백화가 빈발하는 서해안(군산, 부안 등)에서 는 김과 식물플랑크톤이 영양염에 대해 서로 경쟁적으로 흡수 하게 되어, 김 생산량과 엽록소 a 사이에 항상 양의 상관을 가진 다고는 할 수 없을 것이다. 그 외의 환경인자 중 풍속, 일조시간, 강우량이 김 생산량과 각 각 양의 선형 상관성을 보였다(r은 각각.9,.,., Fig. ). 따라서 김의 주생육시기인 겨울철에 바람이 강할수록, 일조 시간이 길수록, 비가 많이 내릴수록 김 생산량이 비교적 높은 것 으로 나타났다. 일반적으로 김은 조류 속도가 m s- 이상에 서 잘 자라며, 이는 영양염 및 이산화탄소 공급, 대사노폐물 제 거, 미세한 부니 부착 방지, 활발한 대사활동을 위해 필요하다 (Jang, ). Hong et al. (987)도 98년대 중반 광양만의 김 생산이 감소한 원인의 하나로, 주변 공단 조성에 따른 매립 등 으로 김 양식장의 유속감소를 꼽았다. 본 연구에서 김 양식장의 조류속도를 직접 측정하지 못하였지만, 풍속과 김 생산량이 양 의 상관성을 보이는 것은 강한 바람으로 인해 수층의 혼합이 이 루어졌을 것이며, 이는 조류가 하는 역할과 유사하게 작용하였 을 것으로 생각된다. 마찬가지로 식물의 광합성에 필수조건인 광량 및 광질 자료를 얻을 수는 없었지만, 기상 관측에서 측정한
