13 았다. 또는등재통보를받기도한다. 그러나이렇게등재되는경우보다는탈락되는경우가더많다. 그러면어떤사유로탈락을할까? 평가지표중다른것은편집인이조금만노력하면어렵지않게달성할수있으나다음과같은두가지경우에는해결이쉽지않다. 우선, 해당범주에이미그분야를다루는학술지가충분히있어서더추가로등재시키지못하거나둘째, 영향력지표가매우낮아국제적으로활용되지못하고있다고사유를통보하는경우이다. 이중에서도둘째사유의경우에는학술지논문의수준을높이고 PubMed Central 및 PubMed 에등재시켜국제적으로유통이되게한후시간이지나면영향력지표를일정수준이상으로올릴수있으나, 첫번째사유라면해결이쉽지않다. 이것은학술지의목적및범위에대한내용이기때문이다. 그럴경우는학술지의내용이새로운학문을반영하거나 Niche 분야다룬다는등방향을바꾸어계획을수정하여야한다. 기존학문의정체성을바꾸는것이아니라기존의것에다가최근가장각광받는분야가어느것인또한다른학술지에서다루지않는것이어느것인지국제적인흐름을잘파악하고대처하여야한다. 예를들어 Nano Medicine 이새분야로많은연구가이루어지고있으나 SCIE 학술지가운데는이분야를다루는것이그다지많지않다. International Journal of Nanomedicine ( 뉴질랜드 ), Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology, Nanomedicine ( 이상영국 ), Nanomedicine- Nanotechnology Biology and Medicine ( 네덜란드 ) 이발행된다. 즉이런분야에서새로운학술지가나오기전에누가먼저이분야를선점하는지가중요하다. 물론이런분야에서가장빠르게움직이는곳은상업학술지이다. 또다른예로최근각광을받고있는 Robotic surgery 는아직이런제호의학술지가 SCIE 에도 Medline 에도등재된것이없다. 즉새분야로제호를바꾸지않더라도목적및범위에이런새분야를잘기술하고논문을투고받아실 148 IS MY JOURNAL ELIGIBLE TO BE INDEXED IN INTERNATIONAL DATABASES?

14 으면기존의전통적인학문분야에서도얼마든지새분야를개척할수있다. SCIE 등재신청은대개 2-3 년마다재신청이가능하므로학술지를꾸준하게영향력지표를높이고평가항목에점수를매길때전혀손색이없도록만들고재신청하여야한다. 최근지역학술지선정정책으로영향력지표가 0.1 이하로도등재된학술지가많다. 그러나모든학술지가다그런대우를받는것은아니다. 꾸준히영향력지표를높여나가도록최선을다하고, 이후어떻게하여야모든평가지표에잘맞출수있을지를고려하여야한다. 어느수준으로올려야가능한지는어디에기술한것도설명도없으나 1998 년도 Yonsei Medical Journal 및 1999 년도 Journal of Korean Medical Science 가등재될때영향력지표가 0.2 정도였으며 2008 년도 The Korean Journal of Parasitology 가등재될때 0.5 이었음에비추어요즘은최소 0.5 이상은되어야하지않을까추정하고이영향력지표평가에서안심하려면 1 이상으로충분히인용받는수준으로학술지수준을올려놓아야할것이다.
