The cobalt ferrite nanoparticles with the size 7nm are firstly prepared by thermal decomposition method. Hydrophobic nanoparticles were coated with silica using micro-emulsion method with surfactant, NH OH, and tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS). Monodispersed and spherical silica coated cobalt ferrite nanoparticles have average particle diameter of 38 nm and narrow sized distribution. (a) High magnification (b) Low magnification. o 성된 나노 분말을 hexane에 분산시킨 후 TEM으로 관찰 하였다. 적당한 용매 선택은 자기 조립된 나노 분말의 superlattice를 얻을 수 있다. Fig. (a)은 고분산 된 CoFe O 의 고배율 (b)저배율 비율로 찍은 투과전자현미경 (TEM) 사진이다. Fig. (a),(b)에서 볼 수 있듯이 CoFe O 와 크기가 균일하며 구형 또는 정육면체 모양을 가지고 있다. Fig. 5는 CoFe O 의 입자 크기 분포를 나타내는 히스토 그램이며, 평균 입자 크기는 7 nm이며 표준 편차는 nm 이다. 나노 분말은 실험조건 변화에 따라서 크기 및 형태 조절이 가능한데 그 중에서도 유기 분산제는 나노 분말 의 산화를 억제하고, 고분산 상태를 유지하는데 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 크기가 큰 나노 분말을 합성하기 위해 서는 seed growing 방법을 이용할 수 있으며, 이 방법은 금속나노분말과 나노 composite 합성에 많이 사용된다. 분석 합성한 CoFe O 의 구조 해석 및 정보는 XRD를 이용하 6) 3.. XRD Fig Size histogram graph of CoFe O. Average size of particle is 7 nm. 여 분석을 하였다. Fig. 6은 CoFe O 나노 분말의 XRD 패턴 이다. Fig. 6에서 보는 바와 같이 CoFe O 나노 입 자들의 주요 픽이 존재하며 (0), (311), (00), (), (0), (553) 면에 나타나있는 peak으로부터 코발트 페라 이트(JCPDS-07917)의, 큐빅 스피넬 구조와 일치하는 것 을 볼 수 있다. 실리카 코팅합성 실리카는 앞에서 언급한 것처럼 많은 응용분야에 사 용하게 되는데 나노 분말의 실리카 코팅은 두 가지 방법 에 의해서 코팅이 가능하다. 일반적으로는 염기성 분위기 하에 TEOS를 이용하는 Stöber 방법이 알려져 있지만 대 부분의 나노 분말 표면은 trioctylphosphine (TOP), oleic acid 등으로 치환되어 있기 때문에 유기 용매에 잘 분산 되어있다. 따라서 기존의 Stöber 방법을 이용한 실리카 코 팅이 아닌 마이크로에멀젼 방법을 이용한다. TEOS를 사 용하여 실리카를 코팅하기 전에 Igepal과 같은 surfactant 를 이용하여 표면 개질을 해줌으로써 소수성 나노분말의 실리카 코팅이 가능했다. 최근에는 Igepal 뿐만 아니라 ) 7) Fig. 6. X-ray Diffraction pattern of 7 nm CoFe O. 제 6 권 제 1호(009)
