Kim 1 1 Dept. of Biomedical Engineering, Yonsei University, 2 Dept. of Radiology, Wonju Christian Hospital = Abstract = The 3D volume rendering which transforms two-dimensional images into a three-dimensional (3D) object, is widely used to diagnose in many clinical applications. Since 1980 s, the researches of 3D volume visualization have been proceeded with rapid advances in computer graphics. Today, 3D visualization can be implemented interactively on PC. One of the popular technique for presenting 3D structure is a volume rendering which is widely used in medical imaging research areas. The classification step in the 3D volume rendering pipeline requires us to classify regions of interest in a data set. In this paper, we proposed the classification functions from the features of histogram morphology in the transformed data, which automates the classification of 3-D volume rendering efficiently.
