Notice to Windows 98/Windows Me Users Due to Windows 98/Windows Me operating procedure, the following phenomena may occur when using this device with Windows 98/Windows Me operating systems. Please note that this may cause some limitations on the use of this device. This notice applies primarily to computers with the following configuration (With Windows 98/Windows Me): Computer that is equipped with its own standard floppy disk drive. Computer that has a removable floppy disk drive (including a docking station). Computer that does not have a floppy disk drive, but a floppy disk icon appears in My Computer. Phenomenon: Condition 1 Condition 2 The device is connected before powering on the computer: If the device is disconnected and then reconnected under such condition, the drive letter assigned to the drives may change. The device is disconnected while the computer is running, and then other storage devices are connected or disconnected: If the device is reconnected under such condition, the drive letter assigned to the drives may change. [Windows 98 Only] The drive letter assigned to these device changes during operation as a result of Condition 1 or Condition 2 : If you use Windows 98, Windows automatically keeps track of the drive letter icon during operation. This drive letter change phenomenon may also result in either the 31/2 Floppy icon being assigned to the Memory Stick reader/writer, or Removable Media icon being assigned to the floppy disk drive, in My Computer. Condition 3 The device is assigned to drive letter A: Since drive A is assigned to the computers default floppy disk drive whenever it is connected, this device may become unusable. Condition 4 The device is assigned to drive letter other than A: Under such condition, the device cannot be used to create a boot disk. Continued 9 GB

Remedy to avoid above phenomenon: 1. If the computer you are using has its own floppy disk drive, employ one of the following procedures when using this device. Do not attach the computer s own floppy disk drive. Connect the computer s own floppy disk drive before connecting this device. 2. When creating boot disks, use whatever floppy disk drive is assigned as drive A. 3. Whenever you connect this device to a computer running under Windows 98, verify that the 3 1 /2 Floppy icon appears for the floppy disk drive and that the removable disk icon appears for the Memory Stick reader/writer. If the wrong icon appears, disconnect the device from the computer, reboot, and then reconnect it after the computer is running and check again. Notice to Windows 2000 Professional Users Please note the following if your computer runs under Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 3 or 4 installed. Phenomenon: If Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 3 or 4 is installed to your computer, please note that the following operations will prevent the computer from recognizing the drive s Memory Stick reader/writer. 1. Turning on the power and starting or restarting Windows while the drive is connected to the computer, followed by 2. Disconnecting and then reconnecting the drive s USB cable while Windows is running., This will prevent the computer from recognizing a Memory Stick reader/ writer in the drive.(however, this recognition failure problem will not occur if item no. 2 is not applied) Remedy to avoid above phenomenon: Please ensure that the USB cable is disconnected before turning on the power and starting/before restarting Windows. Should you turn on the computer power and start/restart Windows with the drive connected, please disconnect the USB cable and start your computer & Windows again. 10 GB
