The device is disconnected while the computer is running, and then other storage devices are connected or disconnected: If the device is reconnected under such condition, the drive letter assigned to the drives may change. [Windows 98 Only] The drive letter assigned to these device changes during operation as a result of Condition 1 or Condition 2 : If you use Windows 98, Windows automatically keeps track of the drive letter icon during operation. This drive letter change phenomenon may also result in either the 31/2 Floppy icon being assigned to the Memory Stick reader/writer, or Removable Media icon being assigned to the floppy disk drive, in My Computer. Condition 3 The device is assigned to drive letter A: Since drive A is assigned to the computers default floppy disk drive whenever it is connected, this device may become unusable. Turning on the power and starting or restarting Windows while the drive is connected to the computer, followed by 2. Disconnecting and then reconnecting the drive s USB cable while Windows is running., This will prevent the computer from recognizing a Memory Stick reader/ writer in the drive.(however, this recognition failure problem will not occur if item no. 2 is not applied) Remedy to avoid above phenomenon: Please ensure that the USB cable is disconnected before turning on the power and starting/before restarting Windows.
