ENGLISH PAD1200 Flexi Auto car vacuum TECHNICAL DATA Voltage Weight V kg PAD1200 12 1.6 INTENDED USE Your Black & Decker Dustbuster auto car vacuum cleaner has been designed for light dry vacuum cleaning purposes. The appliance is powered from a car electrical system and connected by the cigarette lighter socket. This appliance is intended for household use only. GENERAL SAFETY RULES Warning! When using mains-powered/cordless appliances, basic safety precautions, including the following, should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, personal injury and material damage. Read all of this manual carefully before using the appliance. The intended use is described in this manual. The use of any accessory or attachment or the performance of any operation with this appliance other than those recommended in this instruction manual may present a risk of personal injury. The term "appliance" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) appliance or battery-operated (cordless) appliance. SAVE ALL WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. 1. Work area safety Always take care when using the appliance. a. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. b. Only use the appliance in daylight or good artifical light. c. Do not operate your appliance in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. d. Never allow children or people unfamiliar with the instructions to use the appliance. e. Do not allow children or animals to come near the work area or touch the appliance supply cord. f. Keep children, bystanders and animals away while operating an appliance. Distractions can cause you to lose control. g. The appliance is not to be used as a toy. h. Do not immerse the appliance in water. i. Do not open body casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. 2. Electrical safety a. Appliance plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. b. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. c. Do not expose appliance to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. d. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the appliance. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. e. If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock. 3. Personal safety a. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. b. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. c. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. d. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. 3

ENGLISH e. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. f. If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards. 4. Appliance use and care a. Before use, check the appliance for damaged or defective parts. Check for breakage of parts, damage to switches and any other conditions that may affect its operation. b. Do not use the appliance if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any appliance that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. c. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the appliance before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing appliances. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the appliance accidentally. d. Do not use the appliance if any part is damaged or defective. e. Have any damaged or defective parts repaired or replaced by an authorised repair agent. f. Never attempt to remove or replace any parts other than those specified in this manual. 5. Service a. Have your appliance serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. After use When not in use, the appliance should be stored in a dry, well ventilated place out of the reach of children. Children should not have access to stored appliances. When the appliance is stored or transported in a vehicle it should be placed in the boot or restrained to prevent movement following sudden changes in speed or direction. Safety of others This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Inspection and repairs Before use, check the appliance for damaged or defective parts. Check for breakage of parts, damage to switches and any other conditions that may affect its operation. Do not use the appliance if any part is damaged or defective. Have any damaged or defective parts repaired or replaced by an authorized repair agent. Regularly check the power cord for damage.
