ABSTRACT The Technology Level Evaluation assesses the current level of industrial technological development in Korea and identifies areas that are underdeveloped or require government support, with a view to utilizing these findings for project planning. Experts in various fields evaluate the technology levels and gap durations between Korea and its main competitors, namely the US, Japan, Europe, and China, relatively. In 2011, 25 technological fields* falling under the categories of Emerging Industries, Core Industries, and Information & Communication Industries were surveyed over a period of four months from June through October. Results from a total of 13,721 respondents were used. When agreement analysis was carried out to verify reliability, 554 out of the 563 technologies surveyed were found to have an agreement of 70 percent or higher, indicating that the results were in fact reliable. The main contents of the 2011 evaluation are as follows.
