1 Journal of Educational Innovation Research 2019, Vol. 29, No. 1, pp DOI: * Suggestions of Ways to Improve Teaching Practicum Based on the Experiences of Pre-Service Teachers Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore ways to improve the teaching practicum based on the experiences of preservice teachers. Method: In 2018, 537 students who completed the required teaching courses for teacher certificate at the national university (P university) participated in the study. The questionnaire survey and open-ended questions the students conducted on the experience of teaching practicum were used as the main data. The content analysis and the network text analysis were applied to find out the difficulties of the preservice teachers in the course of the study, how to improve the teaching practicum, and how to improve the teacher training course respectively. Results: The main results are as follows. First, preservice teachers felt the greatest difficulty in student control and class preparation due to insufficient teaching skills during teaching practicum. Second, the preservice teachers asked the formation of an atmosphere of respect for the students(preservice teachers) at the training school level and the extension of the training period at the Ministry of Education and the Education Office level. Third, preservice teachers actively demanded classroom demonstration, instructional design opportunity expansion, and reinforcement of lecture contents that can be applied to the field. Conclusion: Based on the results, we suggest ways to improve teaching practicum; 1) increase the opportunity of class demonstration in teaching courses, 2) strengthen the development of teaching ability centered on student motivation, and 3) make a more concrete link between teacher training institute and practical training school and school site before and after training.
