The rate of cure is temperature-dependent (see diagram). The stated cure temperatures refer to the temperature within the adhesive and at the bond faces. The stated cure times do not take account of the time required to warm the adhesive up to its curing temperature. Suitable heat sources to promote rapid curing include ovens, infrared heaters, hot-air blowers, etc. If such a heat source is not available or in the event of a power failure or malfunction the adhesive will still cure by reaction with atmospheric moisture, but at a slower rate. Areas of application: Sikaflex -352 HC is suitable for structural joints that will be subjected to dynamic stresses. Suitable substrate materials include timber, metals, particularly aluminium (including anodized components), sheet steel (including phosphated, chromated and zinc-plated components), metal primers and paint coatings (two-part systems), ceramic materials, glass and some heat resistant plastics. Note: In the case of plastics the curing temperature of the adhesive should not exceed the temperature resistance(vicat temperature) of the plastic. Prolonged exposure to light can cause slight superficial yellowing of the adhesive. Chemical resistance: Sikaflex -352 HC is resistant to fresh water, seawater, limewater, sewage effluent, dilute acids and caustic solutions; temporarily resistant to fuels, mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats and oils; not resistant to organic acids, alcohol, concentrated mineral acids and caustic solutions or solvents. Product benefits: one-part formulation low odour excellent stability long open time fast cure time elastic capable of withstanding high dynamic stresses sound-absorbing vibration-damping can be sanded and overpainted resistant to ageing/weathering Temperature [ C] 200 180 160 140 120 100 80 0 10 20 Curing time [mins.] Cure mechanism: Sikaflex -360 HC is normally cured by the application of heat. The rate of cure is temperature-dependent(see diagram). Areas of application: Sikaflex -360 HC is suitable for structural joints that will be subjected to high dynamic stresses. Suitable substrate materials include timber, sheet steel(bright metal, phosphated, chromated and zinc-plated), metal primers and paint coatings (two-part systems), ceramic materials, glass and plastics. Note: In the case of plastics the curing temperature of the adhesive should not exceed the temperature resistance(vicat temperature) of the plastic. Do not use on plastics that are prone to stress cracking. Chemical resistance: Sikaflex -360 HC is resistant to fresh water, seawater, limewater, sewage effluent, dilute acids and caustic solutions; temporarily resistant to fuels, mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats and oils; not resistant to organic acids, alcohol, concentrated mineral acids and caustic solutions or solvents. Typical applications include seals to: fire check doors fireplaces chimneys and chimney hoods cable entries cracks in walls of brick construction Sika -Firestop should only be used for joints that will be subject to very little or no movement. For use with expansion joints, Sika -Firestop can be overcoated with Sika -Firesil. Cure mechanism: Sika -Firestop cures by the physical evaporation of its water content. Chemical resistance: Sika -Firestop is resistant to fuels, oils, solvents, temporarily resistant to water incl. aqueous cleansing agents and caustic solutions, not resistant to acids. The above information is offered for general guidance only. Advice on specific applications will be given on request. Method of application: Surface preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from all traces of grease, oil, dust and other contaminations. Application: Snip off the plastic tip above the threads. Sika -Firestop can be gunned into the joint using a cartridge gun and tooled with a knife or spatula. For sealing fire check doors or cable entries the sealant must be backed by mineral wool. The mineral wool packing is positioned centrally in the gap, and the joint is then filled from both sides with Sika -Firestop. Once opened, packs should be used up within a short space of time. Do not apply at temperatures below 5ºC or above 35ºC. The optimum temperature for substrate and sealant is between 15ºC and 25ºC. To speed up the hardening process, air humidity should be low and the working place well aerated. For information and advice on the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemical products, users should refer to the current Safety Data Sheet containing physical, ecological, toxicological and other safety-related data for this type of product. Caution: Sika -Firestop must not be allowed to come into contact with alkali-sensitive substrate materials, e.g. aluminium. Removal: Uncured Sika -Firestop may be removed from tools and equipment with water. Once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin should be washed immediately using a suitable industrial hand cleanser and water. Do not use solvents!
