PREPARING YOUR MACHINE FOR FIRST USE/ EN KO First read the safety precautions to avoid risks of fatal electrical shock and fire. 1. Lift cup support, remove water tank and maintenance unit. 2. Adjust cord length and store excess under machine with cord storage fixation. 3. Close lever and plug into mains. 4. Rinse and fill water tank with drinking water. Reposition water tank and maintenance unit. 5. Switch machine on. 25 6. Lift cup support and place container (min. 0.5L) under coffee outlet. 7. Set Lungo button to 5 and press to rinse the machine. Repeat 3 times. Steady: Ready 8. Follow steps in cup heater section to rinse the cup heater before first use. Note: Automatic power off: machine stops automatically after 9 minutes of non-use. CUP HEATER/ EN KO CAUTION: DO NOT PRESS DOWN ON CUP HEATER WITH HANDS AT ANY TIME. NOTE: The cup heater is meant only to heat up your espresso cup, and should not be for any other usage. 1. Cup heater is always in ready mode (except during heat up). Take cup and place it upside down on cup heater. Make sure grill is properly clipped into place on the base. 2. 3 rips must be pressed down simultaneously to activate flow of water. 3. A jet of hot water heats a standard Nespresso cup within 5-10 seconds. Keep cup pressed down during entire heat up to avoid injury. Top up with an espresso preparation. Intense: Indriya from India Grand Cru / Light: Volluto Grand Cru Proportions: 1 espresso capsule Crushed ice cubes Topped up with cold milk froth Prepare an espresso in a tall glass (350ml), add four or five crushed ice cubes. Prepare the cold milk froth and carefully add three or four tablespoons to top off the glass. Intense: Indriya from India Grand Cru / Light: Volluto Grand Cru 16 17

Proportions: 2 Volluto espresso capsules 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream 2 teaspoons of caramel syrup 1 teaspoon of chocolate chips Topped up with hot milk froth Prepare the hot milk froth, add the caramel syrup to it and set aside. Prepare two espresso coffees into a cup and pour them into a cold glass (350ml). Immediately add the scoop of ice cream and top up with the hot milk froth. Decorate with chocolate chips.

Proportions: 1 Capriccio espresso capsule After Eight mint chocolate Nougat chocolate Topped up with hot milk froth Prepare the Capriccio capsule into an espresso cup. Top it up with hot milk froth. Sprinkle shavings of nougat chocolate on top and add an After Eight chocolate to the milk froth to finish. Serve immediately. 18 19
MENU MODES/ 1. To enter menu modes press the espresso button while turning the machine on. (Middle light blinks orange) 2. Set the dials to the required settings (see chart below). 3. Once selected, press lungo the button to confirm (Middle light steady to confirm, and blinks orange accordingly to selected number). EMPT YING MODE/ EN KO Note: Your machine should be emptied before and after a long period of non-use. CO F F E E: / 1. While in menu mode, set espresso button to position 3 for emptying. 2. Remove water tank and lift lever. 3. Press lungo button to empty machine (ready when middle light blinks). C U P H E AT E R: / : 4. Take cup and place it upside down on cup heater. 5. Press down on 3 rips to activate the flow of water and empty the cup heater system. 6. Machine switches off automatically. Note: Appliance will be blocked for 15 minutes after emptying. 20 21
CARE AND CLEANING/ 1. To assemble (disassemble) maintenance unit, make sure cup support is in upright position. 2. Maintenance unit can be removed in one piece and separated for easy cleaning. Cup heater grill can be removed for cleaning. 1. AEROCCINO CLEANING/ Do not use any strong cleaning agent or solvent cleaner. If cleaning by hand, avoid using sharp objects, brushes or abrasives. Make sure to clean the Aeroccino after each usage to avoid build up of milk and residue. Aeroccino jug is dishwasher safe: 60 C. Do not place directly over dishwasher pin as may cause damage to inner coating. 4. 1. Remove Aeroccino from base and take out whisk (no tools required). Remove seal from lid to clean both parts. 2. Rinse and clean with a damp cloth. 3. Once clean, clip back whisk to inner base of jug to avoid loss. 7.
DESCALING MODE/ EN KO Note: Duration approximately 20 minutes. Descaling alert will flash when machine is ready to be descaled (see troubleshooting section). 1. Turn machine off and set espresso button to 4 and lungo button to 1. 2. Open and close the lever to eject the capsule. 3. Empty drip tray and used capsule container. 4. To enter descaling mode press the espresso button while turning the machine on. 5. Fill water tank with 2 Nespresso descaling liquid agents and the rest with water. 6. Place a cup on cup heater and press down on 3 rips to start descaling. Hold down until drip tray full, then empty. Repeat until middle light stops blinking and right one starts. (Caution: cup may get hot so hold with a towel to prevent burning.) 7. Place a container (min 1.5L) below coffee outlet. 8. Press lungo button to start descaling coffee outlet. 9. A mix of start and stop operations will occur. Do not touch machine during this operation. 22 23

Avoid contact with eyes, skin and surfaces. Never use any product other than the Nespresso descaling kit available at the Nespresso Club to avoid damage to your machine. The following table will indicate the descaling frequency required for the optimum performance of your machine, based on water hardness. For any additional questions you may have regarding descaling, please contact your Nespresso Club. T R O U B L E S H O OTING/ EN KO No lights. No coffee, no water. Coffee is not hot enough. Irregular blinking lights on Aeroccino dial. No lights on Aeroccino dial when Aeroccino positioned on base. The lever cannot be closed completely. Leakage or unusual coffee flow. Middle light blinks orange consistently. No coffee, water just comes out (despite inserted capsule). Machine switches itself off automatically. The machine has switched off automatically; press ON/OFF button. Check the mains: plug, voltage, fuse. Check the water tank, if empty, fill with drinking water. Descale it if necessary. Lift the lever. Press one coffee button and wait until water comes out. Preheat cup. Descale the machine if necessary. Clean Aeroccino. Clean base and bottom of Aeroccino jug. Empty the capsule container / Check that there is not a capsule blocked inside the machine. Check that the water tank is in position. Descaling needed. In case of difficulties, call the Nespresso Club. To save energy the machine will turn itself off after 9 minutes of non-use. LIMITED WARRANT Y/ Nespresso warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 year. The warranty period begins on the date of purchase and Nespresso requires presentation of the original proof of purchase to ascertain the date. During the warranty period, Nespresso will either repair or replace, at its discretion, any defective product at no charge of the owner. Replacement products or repaired parts will be warranted for only the unexpired portion of the original warranty or six months, whichever is greater. This limited warranty does not apply to any defect resulting from negligence, accident, misuse, or other reason beyond Nespresso s reasonnable control, included but not limited to: normal wear and tear, negligence or failure to follow the product instructions, improper or inadequate maintenance, calcium deposits or descaling; connection to improper power supply; unauthorized product modification or repair; use for commercial purposes; fire, lightning, flood or other external causes. This warranty is valid only in the country of purchase or in such other countries where Nespresso sells and services the same model with identical technical specifications. Warranty service outside the country of purchase is limited to the terms and conditions of the corresponding warranty in the country of service. Where the cost of repairs or replacement is not covered by this warranty, Nespresso will advise the owner and the cost shall be charged to the owner. This limited Warranty shall be the full extent of Nespresso s liability however caused. Except to the extend allowed by applicable law, the terms of this limited warranty do not exclude, restrict or modify the mandatory statutory rights applicable to the sale of this product and are in addition to those rights. In Australia, goods come with warranties that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer law. The owner is entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure of for compensation for any reasonably forseeable loss or damage. The owner is also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. In New Zealand, this warranty is additional to the guarrantee and rights of redress for under the Consumer Guarantee Act (1993).
