In this study, cationic methyl cellulose derivatives, as a backbone polymer, was conjugated with cholic acids (CA) for drug delivery system. Methyl cellulose was oxidized and grafted with polyethylenimine(mw 800 Da) which was further modified with cholic acid. In this way, cholic acid conjugated amphiphilic copolymer(mcpei-ca) was synthesized and it was expected to form nanoparticles by hydrophobic interaction which can encapsulate hydrophobic drugs. The chemical structure of MCPEI-CA was confirmed by 1 H NMR and FT-IR. The calculated conjugation ratio of cholic acid was 1.74-3.65 per 1 PEI unit.
