This paper reviews current status of weed science in Asian-Pacific regional agricultural systems based on the 24th Asian-Pacific Weed Science Society Conference. About 190 researchers from 16 countries including Korea participated in the Conference and presented 160 in 11 research areas. Major research topics were invasive weeds and their ecology, allelopathy, weed management in paddy field, weed management in field crops, and herbicide resistance. Because rice is a major food crop in Asian countries, weed control and herbicide resistance management in paddy field were a main object of research. Weed control in maize, soybean and wheat has also been studied continuously. To prevent the increase of problematic weeds and to overcome food crisis, the importance of weed-related researches has been raised. Therefore it is expected that various weed management systems and control of herbicide resistant weeds should be studied continuously in the future. Key words: Herbicide resistance, Weed management system Received on Feb. 20, 2014; Revised on Feb. 26, 2014; Accepted on Mar. 17, 2014 *Corresponding author: Phone) , Fax) ; ) parkkw@cnu.ac.kr 2014 The Korean Society of Weed Science and The Turfgrass Society of Korea This is an Open-Access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License & #160; ( which permits unrestricted noncommercial use, distribution, & #160; and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. 제24차아시아 태평양잡초학회 ( 아 태잡초학회 ) 가 2013 년 10월 22일부터 10월 25일까지 4일간인도네시아반둥의 Padjadjaran University에서한국, 중국, 일본, 호주등 16개국 190여명이참가한가운데개최되었다. 이번학회에는초청강연 10편, plenary session 96편, poster session 54편등총 160편이발표되었다. 주요연구분야는잡초의침입성및생태, 논에서의잡초관리, 제초제저항성및잔류, allelopathy 등 11개분야에서발표되었다 (Table 1). 외래잡초발생생태에관한연구발표가 30편으로전체의 18.7% 를차지하였으며, 그다음으로는 allelopathy, 논에서의잡초관리, 일반작물에서의잡초관리, 제초제저항성잡초순 이었다. Lee et al. (2011) 의보고에따르면제23차아 태잡초학회에서는 allelopathy 분야가 16.1% 로가장많았으며, 그다음으로는잡초의생리생태순이었던점과다르지만 allelopathy 분야는제23차에이어이번에도전체발표건중에서 16% 이상을점유하는중요한연구분야로확인되었다. 식량확보를위한잡초연구의역할제 24차아 태잡초학회의전반적인동향을보면, 기후변화에따른각국의식량문제를해결하기위하여주제를 The role of weed science in supporting food security by 1

Adkins 박사는 Some present problems and future approaches to weed management in the Asian Pacific region: Supporting food and environment security by 2020 에서앞으로는인구증가, 기후변화, 문제잡초증가등이중요한문제가될것이며, 그중에서현재문제잡초 5종과향후문제가될잡초 5종에대한공감적인주제발표를하였다. 미국의 Albert J. Fischer박사는 Management of multipleherbicide resistant Echinochloa spp. in rice 에서제초제저항성잡초문제를심도있게다루었다. 한편, 한국잡초학회 부회장인한국농수산대학의박광호교수는 Weed control potentials using robotic implements 를초청강연으로발표하였다. 이것은부족한노동력을절감하기위한무논점뿌림등의진일보된연구개발실적으로다른나라로부터관련자료요청이쇄도하였다. 국가별잡초연구발표현황아시아에서는한국, 중국등 13개국이 160편을발표하여전체의 90% 를차지하였다 (Table 2). 그중에서차기 (2015년) 아 태잡초학회개최국인인도에서는 55편의초록을제출하여전체의 34.3% 를점유하였으나, 극히일부만참석하고발표하여다른참석자로부터비난을받았다. 개최국인인도네시아는 27편으로상대적으로적었는데, 인도네시아잡초학회가활성화되지못했기때문으로판단된다. 2011년호주케언즈에서개최된제23차아 태잡초학회에서는개최국인호주가 56편으로전체의 37.6% 를점유했던것과는상반되었다 (Lee et a., 2011). 한국, 일본, 중국의동북아시아 3개국의참가는예년과비슷하였지만, 중국은 5명만참가하여 2012년에중국항조우에서개최된 Table 2. Country Ratio (%) India Indonesia Australia Japan Korea Pakistan Sri Lanka China Malaysia Thailand New Zealand Philippines Vietnam Bangladesh Iran USA Total (16) 세계잡초학회때와는사뭇대조적이었다 (IWSC 2012). 일본은차차기 (2017년) 대회를유치하기위하여 10여명이참가하였다. 아 태잡초학회는아시아와호주, 뉴질랜드를비롯하여태평양연안의미국, 캐나다등의북미뿐만아니라칠레등의남미도포함되는데동남아시아를중심으로많이참가하는양상을보여지역적인대표성이상실되고있다는것을확인하였다.

3 아시아 태평양지역잡초연구동향및전망 3 잡초연구관련주요키워드발표자료의키워드를통하여이번학회에서비중있게다루었던용어, 잡초및제초제를다각도로검토하였다. 먼저재배방법에서 aerobic rice ( 호기성벼 ), conservation 또는 conservation agriculture ( 보존농업 ), stale-seed bed ( 헛묘상 ) 등이눈에띄었다. 그리고 direct seeding ( 직파 ) 는 9회, machine transplanting ( 기계이앙 ) 은 7회언급되었으며, 작부체계에서 rice-wheat system이있었다. 생물적방제에서는잡초의개화시기에이용될수있는 arthropod communities ( 절지동물군집 ), Plutella xylostella ( 배추좀나방 ), Diadegma semiclausum ( 포식기생벌 ), predatory insect ( 포식성곤충 ), rhizophere ( 근권미생물 ), gorse pod moth lavae ( 가시금작화꼬투리나방유충 ) 등이언급되어다양한연구가진행되고있음을보여주고있었다. Allelopathy 에관한연구는키워드에서더욱두드러졌다. Allelopathy 와 allelochemicals라는키워드는총 21회, natural herbicides 4회, bioherbicide 1회를포함하면총 26편에서이와관련된연구가소개되었다. Allelochemiclas과관련되어 momilactone, momilactone B, phenolic acid 등 9회, 추출방법으로는 aqueous leaf extract, leaf debris, root exudate 등의키워드가사용되었다. Allelopathy 연구에이용되고사용된잡초 는 Table 3과같다. 많지는않았지만갯벌이나간척지에발생하는 halophyte ( 염생식물 ) 의염류집적및 salt stress 등에관한연구도진행되었다. 외래잡초분야에서는 alien plant, invasive weeds 라는키워드는 16회언급되었지만, 개별초종은 Acacia nilotica ( 가시아카시아 ) 1종만표기되었고, 공항활주로에서문제가되고있었다. 종다양성을포함한유전적특성과관련된키워드에서주목을끈것은 center of diversity, genetic diversity, molecular diagnostics, vegetation dynamics, weed diversity였다. 기타로는 weed density, weed mapping, weeds population 등이눈길을끌었고, 연구대상작물로는 corn 9회, rice 5 회, soybean 4회, wheat 3회, tea와 groundnut 각각 2회, yellow sarson, bamboo, barley, cabbage 등 22종으로, 이들작물의잡초및제초제에대한연구내용이발표되었다. 또한잡초연구및방제대상이된잡초는 Table 4와같다. 그리고키워드에서언급된제초제는 alachlor, atrazine, butachlor 등 31종이었으며, Table 5와같다. 제초제저항성과관련된키워드는총 13회조사되어상대적으로비중이감소하는경향이었다. 잡초연구주요분야별연구동향 1. Weed management in rice 벼의잡초관리분야는아시아라는지역특성상가장많은구두발표 (17편) 가이루어졌다. 동남아시아및서남아시아에서는 2, 3모작을하는관계로벼와벼재배시스템, 벼와밀재배에서제초제연속사용이나전작물의잔류물이후작물에미치는영향등에관한연구내용이많이소개되었다. Aerobic rice, 직파 puddled rice 등과같은벼의새로운재배법에서제초제사용에따른약효등도같이소개하고있었다. 이때사용된제초제는 penoxsulam, pendimethalin, penoxsulam+cyhalopfop-butyl, bispyribac sodium+metamifop 등이었다. 3. 4 4 이인용 이정란 김도순 박기웅 제초제저항성잡초에대한연구는상대적으로적었는데총 18편 ( 초청 1, 구두 9편, 포스터 8편 ) 으로우리나라에서도 3편이발표되었다. 호주에서는제초제저항성잡초의발생예측모델링을발표하여관심을받았으며, 스리랑카에서는 glyphosate 에저항성을보인 Crassocephalum crepidioides와 Erigeron sumateensis에관한연구결과를발표하였다. 인도네시아에서는 glyphosate와 paraquat에저항성을보인 goosegrass (Eleusine indica) 의관리방법에대해서도발표하였다. 4. Allelopathy and allelochemicals Allelopathy와 allelochemicals에대한연구 [ 총 26편 ( 초청 2, 구두 15편, 포스터 9편 )] 는일본, 인도네시아, 태국, 파키스탄등을중심으로활발하게진행되고있었다. 이들은 allelochemicals의분리및특성을검증하는데국한하지않 Table 4. Allelopathy와 allelochemicals 추출대상식물로는 Leucas aspera, Lantana camara, Chromolaena odorata, Mikania micrantha, Hyptis suaveolens, Cyperus roundus, Aglaia odorata, Rhynchosia capitata, Aglara odorata 등이었다. 5. Quarantine and special weed problems Parthenium hysterophorus는검역및외래잡초분야에서주목을받았는데구두로발표된 11편중 8편이이잡초를대상으로연구되었다. 우리나라에서는 1995년에경남사천에서처음으로발생이확인된 돼지풀아재비 로서열대아메리카가원산이다. 문헌에의하면이초종은 perthenin 이라는독을가지고있어인축에피부염및호흡기질환을유발시키는독초이다. 이번아 태잡초학회는인도네시아, 호주, 파키스탄에서심각하게발생하여제초제를통한화학적방제, 종다양성에미치는영향, 생물적방제, 경합등다양한연구결과를발표하였다. 아직국내에서는심각하게문제시되고있지않지만다른나라의연구결과를바탕으로사전에확산을방지할수있는대책이수립

Biotechnology 세계잡초학회와달리제초제저항성기작및생리연구를위한분자생물학적방법을이용한시도나 biotechnology 측면이강조된발표는많지않았다. 구두발표는초청연사의발표 1건과일반구두발표 1건, 포스터발표 6건이었다. 주요내용은제초제에대한작물의반응이나잡초성에영향을미치는유전자염기서열및변이, 발현등의기작에관한연구였다. 요 약 아시아태평양지역의농업시스템에서잡초방제에관한최근연구동향을파악하고이를토대로향후잡초방제발전방향과전망을제시하고자하였다. 제 24차아시아- 태평양잡초학회에서우리나라를포함한 16개국 190여명이참석하였으며 11개분야에서160편이발표되었다. 주요 연구분야로는외래잡초의발생생태, allelopathy, 논에서의잡초관리, 일반작물에서의잡초관리, 제초제저항성잡초등이었다. 쌀은아시아국가의주된식량작물로서이와관련된잡초방제및제초제저항성에관한연구내용이주를이루었으며옥수수, 콩, 밀재배지에서의잡초방제분야에서도꾸준한연구가이루어졌다. 앞으로기후변화에따른문제잡초의증가및인구증가에따른식량부족현상을해결하기위해잡초관련연구의중요성이대두되고있으며, 다양한잡초방제체계를확립하고저항성잡초를방제하기위한연구들이지속적으로이루어져야할것으로전망된다.
