3 1. Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your INFRASONIC AMON! The AMON is a powerful USB audio interface for MIDI and audio recording and suitable for providing high quality results. It features a small-size and a rugged aluminum case. Additionally, the AMON truly supports a USB 2.0 high-speed specification. Other features include a microphone preamp, direct instrument Hi-Z input, MIDI I/O, and a headphone amplifier. Controls and connectors 2.1 Front panel ❶ ❷ ❸ ❹ ❺ ❻ ❼ ❽ ❶ Microphone / Left Line Input Gain Control This knob adjusts the left side of the line input and microphone input gain. ❷ Microphone Peak LED This LED light indicates when the input signal is within -6dB of analog clipping. If the peak LED flickers occasionally, the signal is approaching clipping levels, but does not necessarily indicate distortion or actual clipping. ❸ Microphone Input (1/4 TRS) Connect a dynamic microphone to this balanced 1/4 connector. Only dynamic microphones are available for this input. (no phantom power) ❹ Hi-Z input (1/4 TS) Connect an electric guitar or bass guitar to this unbalanced 1/4 con nector. Only unbalanced 1/4 phone jack connection are suitable for this Hi-Z input. ❺ Hi-Z input Peak LED This LED light when the input signal is within -6dB of analog clipping. If the peak LED flickers occasionally, the signal is approaching clipping levels, but does not necessarily indicate distortion or actual clipping. ❻ Hi-Z / Right Line Input Gain Control This knob adjusts the right Line and Hi-Z Input gain. ENGLISH ❼ Headphone Output The high powered headphone output accommodates stereo headphones with a 1/4 stereo plug. ❽ Headphone Level This knob controls the overall output level of headphone output 2

Controls and connectors 2.2 Rear panel ❶ ❷ ❸ ❹ ❶ USB 2.0 High-Speed Bus Powered Plug the USB cable into this connector with your computer s USB port. ❷ MIDI Input / Output AMON provides 16 channels of MIDI I/O. ❸ 2 Line Inputs (RCA) These inputs are RCA type connecters for analog stereo line inputs. The input gain is adjusted by tweaking the gain Knobs on the front panel. ❹ 2 line outputs (RCA) These outputs are RCA type connectors and can be connected to a mixing board, power amplifier, powered studio monitors, recorder, or another stereo line input. 6 3. Connections and Set up 1. Connect the USB cable to the USB port on your computer with the included cable. 2. Find the USB port on the rear panel of AMON. 3. Connect the provided USB cable (Plug type series B) to AMON. 4. Connect the AMON to your equipment (mixer, monitoring system, microphone, instruments, etc.) ENGLISH 4

7 4. Software Installation 4.1 Driver Software Installation This manual contains a step by step guide for driver software installation to your OS. If you have any difficulties during installation, please contact our technical support (tech@simsaudio.com). NOTE: Before starting the driver software installation, please check your original OS software disc location, as you may need it during installation. Also please make sure that you have installed the most recent version of the chipset drivers and patches provided by the manufacturer for your motherboard. Installation (Windows OS) 1) To Install the AMON driver software, please insert the provided CD into your CD-Rom drive. Open driver\amon_driver_win folder and just click setup file and follow the instruction on screen. Note: Depending on your windows system version, please install proper setup file. 2) Choose your language during the installation process. Then, click the Install the driver. 3) Follow the instructions on the screen. During installation, you may have to plug or unplug your AMON to the computer up to two times. 4) Restart your system as the software recommends. Once your computer is restarted, your AMON is ready to use. NOTE: Including Windows7 driver in the CD is beta version that may have unstable operation. We hope to get your feedback such unexpected problem with Win7 driver if you encounter. Please send your symptom to tech@simsaudio.com. Installation (Mac OS) 1) To Install the AMON driver software, please insert the provided CD into your CD-Rom drive. Open driver\amon_driver_mac folder and click Infrasonic_AMON_Driver_*.*.*.dmg" to create new Amon driver folder in your computer. 2) Click the Infrasonic_AMON_*.*.*.mpkg in the newly created folder. 3) Follow the instructions on the screen. 4) Restart your system as the software recommends. Once your computer is restarted, your AMON is ready to use. 4.2 Driver Control Panel Installation If the driver is successfully installed, the driver control panel must be installed independently as following steps. Windows Insert the provided CD into your CD-Rom drive and open control panel folder and just click setup file and follow the instruction on screen. Mac Insert the provided CD into your CD-Rom drive and Click Install Control Panel. Copy Infrasonic_AMON_ControlPanel_*.*.*.dmg file to your computer and double click it to proceed with the control panel installation. ENGLISH AMON OWNER S Manual 5

Driver Control Panel ❶ Connection status The INFRASONIC logo will lit if AMON is properly connected with USB port on your computer. ❷ Input selector You can select the input type between MIC, Hi-Z and Line. ❸ Input direct monitor You can monitor the sound directly from the input source with zero latency monitoring. You can hear the "MIC" input source in the left channel and the "Hi-Z" in the right channel. ❹ Input mute - Select this button to mute input signal sources. ❺ Link - Select this button to link the L/R output faders. ❻ Output level information - The output level is displayed here. ❼ Output mute - Select this button to mute signals of output channels. ENGLISH ❽ Always on top Enables the AMON Control Panel to always be on your desktop. If you use the AMON on the mac system, this menu is displayed on the task bar. ❾ EXIT - Exit the control panel ❿ About Check current driver information. If you use the AMON on the mac system, this menu displays the task bar. 6

9 6. ASIO Application set-up Guide This chapter contains examples of basic configuration for some popular software applications. Please refer to the specific software s manual for detailed information. 6.1 Cubase / Nuendo After launching Cubase/Nuendo, go to Device / Device Setup / VST Audiobay. Select AMON ASIO driver for the ASIO device. Make sure you need to click Apply button after changing the settings as showing below picture. After changing the settings, go to Device / Device Setup / AMON ASIO driver. Then Click the Control Panel button, ASIO-USB Control Panel window will pop up as following. Click the ASIO tab. You can change system performance and application priority. Your system performance affects the latency of the inputs and outputs. If you want to change the sample rate, you must change it on the host program ENGLISH AMON OWNER S Manual 7

10 6. ASIO Application set-up Guide 6.2 Sonar Go to option and click Audio tab. WDM/KS Change the settings as above in the input/output driver settings. The input and output drivers have to be matched to each other. Restart SONAR after the settings have changed. ASIO First, change the driver mode to ASIO in the advanced tab of the audio options as below, then restart SONAR. Then change the settings as following in the input/output driver configurations. End User Warranty SIMS Corp. warrants this product, under normal use, to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of One(1) year from date of purchase, so long as: the product is owned by the original purchaser, with proof of purchase from an authorized SIMS Corp. dealer. This warranty explicitly excludes power supplies and included cables which may become defective as a result of normal wear and tear. In the event that SIMS Corp. receives, from an original purchaser and within the warranty coverage period, written notice of defects in materials or workmanship, SIMS Corp. will either: replace the product, repair the product, or refund the purchase at its option. To obtain warranty service, the original purchaser or his authorized dealer must fill the support contact form at In the event repair is required, shipment to and from SIMS Corp. and possible handling charges shall be borne by the purchaser. 20 6. ASIO 어플리케이션설정 이번장에서는일반적으로많이사용되는소프트웨어어플리케이션과 AMON 의기본적인설정에관하여설명합니다. 자세한사항은사용하는어플리케이션의설명서를참고하기바랍니다. 6.1 Cubase/Nuendo Cubase/Nuendo를실행한다음, 매뉴의 Device / Device Setup / VST Audiobay 경로로이동합니다. ASIO Device중 AMON ASIO driver 를선택하십시오. 설정을변경한뒤에는반드시 Apply 를클릭해주십시오. 드라이버선택이완료되면, 매뉴의 Device / Device Setup / AMON ASIO driver 경로로이동합니다. 우측상단의 Control Panel 을클릭하면, ASIO-USB Control Panel 창이아래와같이나타납니다. ASIO 탭을선택하면, 시스템퍼포먼스와어플리케이션우선순위를변경할수있습니다. 시스템퍼포먼스는입출력레이턴시에영향을줍니다. 만일샘플레이트를변경하고자한다면, 반드시호스트프로그램에서변경해주십시오. 한국어 18

21 6. ASIO 어플리케이션설정 6.2 Sonar 옵션메뉴로이동하여 AUDIO 탭을선택합니다. WDM/KS 상단에표시된입출력드라이버세팅을아래그림과같이변경합니다. 이입출력드라이버는반드시동일해야합니다. SONAR 를재시작하면변경된드라이버설정이반영됩니다. ASIO 먼저아래그림과같이오디오옵션의 Advanced탭에서드라이버모드를 ASIO로변경합니다. 그런다음 SONAR를재시작합니다. 아래그림과같이입출력드라이버의설정을변경합니다 한국어 AMON OWNER S Manual 19

End User Warranty SIMS Corp. warrants this product, under normal use, to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of One(1) year from date of purchase, so long as: the product is owned by the original purchaser, with proof of purchase from an authorized SIMS Corp. dealer. This warranty explicitly excludes power supplies and included cables which may become defective as a result of normal wear and tear.
