사업명 영시조를노래로만들기 (Making Sijo into Songs) 사업기관 Sejong Cultural Society 사업책임자 Lucy Park 사업기간 동의서제출일로부터 ~ 사업비 금 8,000,000원 ( 금팔백만원정 ) 사업진행현황 Aim: 영어로쓰인또는영어로번역된시조를미국의젊은이들이좋아하는 Hip Hop, Pop, 또는인디 음악등의스타일로노래를만들어시조소개, 시조낭송, 시조강연을곁들인 Sijo Hip Hop 공연들을개최하며또시조노래연주동영상을인터넷에올리는프로젝트입니다. 목적 - 많은미국학생들과젋은이들이이새로운형태의시조노래로인하여시조에관한관심을더욱고조시키고, 또새로운형태의시조노래를즐겨, 한국문화에관한관심이더욱높아져서더많은미국의학교에서시조짓기를정규수업시간에가르치도록하려고합니다. 사업진행과정 - - Preparation Meeting: We had a series of meeting with Elephant Rebellion (ER: Chicago based hip hop group) and Won Jung Park (video editor, anchor and producer of a popular TV show, News Magazine, on KBC-TV in Chicago). Elephant Rebellion 는시카고의 hip hop group 으로세종작문대회에서입상한시조와자신들이쓴시조들을가지고힙합송을만들었습니다. 황진이의시조를 Hip Hop song 으로만드는작업은현재진행중입니다. - Sijo Workshop and Performance of sijo songs: 시조에대해강의하고 Hip Hop style 의시조노래를선보이기위해, 10 월 31 일일리노이대학에서교사들을위한시조강의를하고저녁에시카고시내의 Andrew Bae Art Gallery 에서 Enchanted Evening with Korean Sijo Poetry, Art and Wine 를개최하여시조낭송과, 한국전통음악공연을곁들여세계에서처음으로시조를서양음악형식으로노래부른, Sijo Hip Hop 공연을선보였습니다. 그날공연실황때녹화한영상의 draft version 을임시로유튜브에올리고, 또 DVD 를만들어보고서에첨부하였습니다. 이동영상은전문가에게의뢰하여더편집을하여유튜브에공개로올리고미국전역의교사들에게소개시킬예정입니다. - 시조강좌 : 시조워크샵의홍보물을, 수필시조경연대회의공고문과함께 26,000 명의미국전역의영어교사들에게우편으로보내고, 워크샵은 10 월 31 일오전과낮에 University of Illinois at Chicago 에서갖고, 강사진으로 Professor Mark Peterson (Brigham Young University), Ivanna Yi (Harvard University), and Elizabeth Jorgensen (Arrowhead Union High School) 을초청하여시조와시조창을소개하는강의를가졌습니다. - 시조를 Hip Hop 으로만든곡들을일반에게선보이기위해, 시카고다운타운에위치한 Andrew Bae Art Gellery 에서 An Enchanted Evening with Korean Sijo Poetry, Art, and Wine 이란타이틀로시조낭송및연주회를가졌습니다. Andrew Bae Gallery 에서전시되고있는한복등의 Wire Sculpture Art (by KeySook Geum) 작품들을배경으로 Mark Peterson 교수와 Mia Park 의시조낭송과, Yvanna Yi 의시조창공연및시조창배우기시간을갖고, 한국에서미국공연을위해방문중인김수완 ( 장구 ), 김소라 ( 장구 ), 박수아 ( 해금 ) 의한국전통음악연주를듣고, 이벤트하이라이트로 Elephant Rebellion 의멤버자신들이작사작곡한시조힙합, Sijo Sea 와세종작문경연대회수상작인 Still American 시조를주제로하는 Hip Hop 노래를작사작곡하여김수완의장구반주에맟추어 Hip Hop 공연을하였습니다. 참석하신분들에게한국음식, 막걸리, 와인들을제공하였습니다. - Recording of Sijo Hip Hop Songs: 12 월 27 일과 2016 년 1 월 3 일이틀에걸쳐시카고다운타운에있는 Creative 2010 Studio 에서전문가에의해 (DC Audio Recording Engineer) 시조 Hip Hop 2 곡을 recording 하였습니다. Recording 완료한곡들 : 1. Still American (by Roberto Santos, 2012 년시조부문 1 등 ): Elephant Rebellion (ER) 단원들은 Roberto Santos 의시조를후렴으로사용하고 ER 단원들이쓴시조여러개를 Page 1
사이사이에넣어서연시조를만들었습니다. 2. Sijo Seas (by members of ER): ER 단원들이쓴시조를 hip hop song으로만들었습니다. 현재작업중인곡 : 현재 recording 이완료된 2 곡외에도한곡을더의뢰하여작업중에있습니다. 1. 현재작업중인곡은황진이의시조 청산리벽계수야 입니다. 황진이의시조를후렴으로하고 ER 단원들이쓴시조를노래합니다. 이곡은 2 월중순정도에끝날것으로예상됩니다. 사업성과 이사업과관련하여시조워크샵을개최하여 2015 년 9 월에미국전국의이만육천명의영어교사들에게세종작문경연대회의공고와함께시조워크샵 brochure 를우송하여시조에관해더욱관심을갖게하였습니다. 2015 년 10 월 31 일시조워크샵을통해여러영어교사들이시조에대해깊이배울기회를마련하였고, 앤드류배화랑에서시조낭송및시조힙합연주를통해처음으로시조 Hip Hop song 을선보였습니다. 2016 년 1 월에 CD quality 의 audio file 을만들어임시로동영상을곁들어 YouTube (https://youtu.be/insq2axdarc ) 에올렸으며조만간이동영상을전문가에의뢰하여더편집하여 finalize 된동영상을 YouTube 에올려전국의영어교사들에게소개하여학교에서시조교육에더욱관심을갖게하는좋은활력소로쓰일예정입니다. 또미국의교사들에게한국의문화를소개하는여러워크샵에서시조 Hip Hop song 을공연할예정이며, 또더욱많은시조로 Hip Hop song 을계속만들어갈예정입니다.
