1 ORIGINAL ARTICLE 기준면이다른반조절성교합기의전방시상과로각과교합평면경사각에대한연구 김효중 이성복 최대균 백 진 경희대학교치과대학치과보철학교실, 경희대학교구강생물학연구소 연구목적 : 기존의교합기들은서양인의악안면구조와하악운동평균치에맞추어제작되어있다. 이에현재임상교육에널리사용하고있는반조절성교합기 (KaVo PROTAR, Hanau Modular) 를한국인에게적용함에있어서적절한기준을구하고자이번연구를시행하였다. 연구방법 : 24~41 세한국인성인 59 명 ( 남 41 명, 여 18 명 ) 을선정하였다. 피검자일인당두쌍의상하악모형을제작, KaVo PROTARevo 7 과 Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기에 facebow transfer 하여교합기에부착후전방시상과로각, 교합평면경사도, 교합기상의하악의위치를계측하였다. 연구성적 : 1. 평균전방시상과로각은 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기상에서 ( 표준편차 ) 였고, Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기상에서 ( 표준편차 ) 였다. 2. 평균교합평면경사각은 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기상에서 ( 표준편차 3.63 ) 였고, Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기상에서 ( 표준편차 3.63 ) 였다. 3. 하악치열의중심은교합기의중심에서평균 5~7 mm 범위내에있었으며 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기에서는전치부와구치부모두교합기의상하적위치관계에서중앙에위치하였고, Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기에서는교합기의중앙높이에서전치부는하방 5 mm, 구치부는상방 3 mm 에위치하였다. ( 대한치과보철학회지 2008:46: ) 주요단어 : 교합기, 시상과로각,. 교합평면경사각, Camper s plane, F-H plane 서론 하악의운동은근신경계, 악관절, 치아에의해규제를받는복잡한 3 차원운동이다. 해부학적으로결정된상하악치열의교합관계와과로로인한기계적요소로규제되며, 또한하악운동을유발시키는근기능의생리적작용으로인한유기적요소로규제를받고있다. 이러한하악의운동을재현 (reproduction) 또는흉내 (simulation) 내기위하여교합기를사용하는것은보철치료에있어필수적이며, 그필요성은 Weinberg 1, Brill 2 등에의해강조되었다. 일반적으로사용되는교합기를조절기능별로크게분류하면과로형과비과로형으로나눌수있고과로형교합기는다시비조절성, 반조절성, 전조절성교합기로나눌수있다. 3 Hobo 와 Shillingburg 4 는다수치아의고정성 국소의치수복시정확성이요구되고수직고경의상실이없으며, 교합질환이나 immediate side shift 가없는경우에반조절성교합기의사용을추천하였다. 반조절성교합기의특징은 check-bite 법으로교합기의과로를조절할수있으며, 안궁기록을할수있고, 기종에따라서는 hinge axis transfer 도할수있다. 또한시상과로경사각, 측방과로경사각, 시상절치로경사각, 측방절치로경사각을각각조절할수있으며, 기종에따라서는 immediate side shift 를조절할수있는것, 과두간거리를조절할수있는것등이다 년현재전국치과대학에서학부생교육용으로, 그리고임상가에서가장널리사용되는교합기는 Arcon type 의반조절성교합기이다. 반조절성교합기에서안궁전이시상악모형은 2 개의후방기준점과 1 개의전방기준점으로이루어지는기준 교신저자 : 교수이성복 서울특별시동대문구회기동 1번지경희대학교치과대학치과보철학교실 : , lsb@khu.ac.kr 원고접수일 :2008년 2월 25일 / 원고최종수정일 : 2008년 4월 30일 / 원고채택일 : 2008년 8월 18일 420 대한치과보철학회지 2008 년 46 권 4 호

Hanau Modular 는후방기준점으로 arbitrary hinge axis 를, 전방기준점으로 orbitale 를이용하며, orbital indicator 의높이를 arbitrary hinge axis 보다 7 mm 높게설정함으로써 FH plane 을기준면으로사용할수있게제작된반조절성교합기이다. 5,6 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기는 tragus medialis 와 subnasal point 를연결하는 Camper s plane 을기준면으로이용하고있다. 7 일반적으로 FH plane 과 Camper s plane 간의각도차이는 8~15 로알려져있으며, Camper s plane 은교합평면과평행하다는것이통념이지만전후방기준점의설정에따라 - 애초의 Camper s plane 은외이도공의상연과비익을연결하는평면으로정의하였으나 Gisy 는외이도공하연과비익을연결하는평면이더교합평면과평행하다고하여이평면을추천하였음 - 그리고선학들의연구성적에따라약간의차이를보였다. 8 한편, Ow 9,10 등은중국인을대상으로한 cephalometric view 분석결과, 중국인의악안면구조가서양인에비해상악의높이와깊이가크게나타나는인종간차이를보였으며, 이로인해 FH plane 을기준면으로사용하는교합기에상악모형을부착시너무후하방으로처지는경향을보인다고하였다. 또한중국인에게서 FH plane 이 Camper s plane 에비해위치의변동이심하다고하였다. 따라서중국인과비슷한체형을가진한국인또한유사한문제점이발생될것이예상되므로, 실제교합기사용시나타나는양상과그에따른각교합기조절기구의적절한기준을구해볼필요가있다. 이에저자는서양인의악안면구조를바탕으로제작된두교합기를한국인에게적용함에있어서적절한기준을구하고자각교합기에서의전방시상과로각, 교합평면경사각, 하악의위치를계측한결과, 약간의지견을얻었기에여기에보고하는바이다. 연구대상및방법 1. 연구대상 이번연구는경희대학교치과대학부속치과병원임상시험심사위원회의심의를통과하였으며, 임상시험참여동의서에서명하고, 다음의조건을만족하는성인 24 세에서 41 세의유치악자남녀 59 명 ( 남자 41 명, 여자 18 명 ) 을대상으로하였다. 1 교정치료의경험이없을것 2 제 3 대구치를제외한치아의결손이없을것 3 교합평면의변화를수반한광범위한수복이없을것 4 악관절질환이없을것 2. 연구방법 1) 인상채득및모형제작피검자의상하악모형제작은통법에따라기성 tray 를선택하여 putty type 의고무인상재 (Exafine, GC Corp., Tokyo, Japan) 와 injection type 의고무인상재 (Exafine, GC Corp., Tokyo, Japan) 를이용하여전악인상을채득하였으며경석고 (New Plastone, GC Corp., Tokyo, Japan) 로피검자일인당두쌍의모형을제작하였다. 2) 모형의교합기부착각교합기제작사가추천하는 face bow-kavo face bow ARCUS (KaVo Corp., Biberach, Germany), HANAU Spring- Bow (waterpik, Buffalo, NY, Colorado, USA)- 를이용하여두개골에대한상악골의위치를각각기록한후상악모형을 KaVo PROTARevo 7 반조절성교합기 (KaVo Corp., Biberach, Germany) 와 Hanau Modular (Model ) 반조절성교합기 (waterpik, Buffalo, NY, USA) 에부착하고하악모형은최대교합접촉점을갖는최대교두감합위상태로부착하였다. 3) 시상과로각측정 1 피검자의하악을절단교합이되도록전방이동시킨상태에서왁스 (Kim s, England) 를이용하여전방 bite 를채득하였다. 2 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기에서의시상과로각측정상하악모형이부착된교합기의잠금장치를풀고상대 (upper frame) 와하대 (lower frame) 를분리한다음, 상대의양쪽시상과로각 (CE) 을 -30 로, 측방과로각을가장 open 된위치 (30 이상 ) 로조정한후, 전방 bite 를하악의교합면에적합시키고상악모형이부착된상대를전방 bite 에일치하도록안착시켰다. 교합기의좌우측 condylar housing 을과두가상벽에닿을때까지과도한압력없이회전시켜좌우측시상과로각을얻었다. 3 Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기에서의시상과로각측정동일한방법으로상대를분리한다음, 양쪽시상과로각을 0, 측방과로각을 30 로조정한후, 전방 bite 대한치과보철학회지 2008 년 46 권 4 호 421

CA = center of articulator CMA = center of mandibular arch a = The horizontal distance from CA to CMA b = The vertical distance from CA to CMA c = The distance from CA to CMA 까지의수직높이 ⅱ. 전방 incisal pin 에서부터절치점및좌우구치점까지의수평거리 ⅲ. 하악치열의중심과교합기중심간의거리 4 측정방법편의상각교합기 incisal table 의중앙점을기준점으로정한후이기준점에대한절치점, 좌우구치점의 3 차원적좌표를측정하였다 (Fig. 2). 이후하대상연으로부터 incisal table 상의기준점까지의높이를각좌표의 Z 축값에더해주었다. 하악치열의중심은좌우구치점의중점과절치점간의중점으로가정하고각교합기의제원으로부터구해진교합기의중심 -KaVo PROTAR (62.5, 0, 60), Hanau Modular (57.5, 0, 54)- 과의거리를구하였다 (Fig. 3). 교합평면경사각은절치점과좌우구치점의중점을이은선분을빗변으로하는직각삼각형으로부터삼각함수를이용하여산출하였다. 3. 통계처리 통계처리는 SPSS version 11 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) 을이용하였으며, 남녀성별에따른차이를비교하기위해독립표본 t 검정을, Hanau 교합기와 Kavo 교합기간차이와좌우간의차이를비교하기위하여대응표본 t 검정을실시하였다. 연구성적 1. 전방시상과로각 1) KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기우측전방시상과로각의평균은 였고, 좌측전방시상과로각의평균은 였다. 좌우평균치는 였고표준편차는 이었다. 좌우측간, 남녀간유의차는없었다 (P >.05) (Table I). 2) Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기우측전방시상과로각의평균은 였고, 좌측전방시상과로각의평균은 였다. 좌우평균치는 였고표준편차는 이었다. 좌우측간, 남녀간유의차는없었다 (P >.05) (Table I). 2. 교합평면경사각 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기에서는평균 -2.76, 표준편차는 3.63 이었으며, Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기에서는평균 11.87, 표준편차는 3.63 이었다. 두교합기모두남녀간유의차는없었다 (P >.05) (Table II). 대한치과보철학회지 2008 년 46 권 4 호 423

7 여성이남성에비해약 6.0 mm 후방에위치하였다 (P <.05). 하대상연으로부터수직높이는평균 mm ( 표준편차 4.0 mm) 였으며, 좌우간남녀간유의차는없었다 (P >.05) (Table III). 3 교합기중심과하악치열의중심간의거리하악치열의중심이교합기의중심으로부터전방으로평균 4.27 mm ( 표준편차 5.34 mm), 상방으로평균 0.72 mm ( 표준편차 3.96 mm) 떨어져있었고, 여성이남성에비해약 6.8 mm 후방에위치하였으며 (P <.05), 두중심간평균거리는 6.89 mm ( 표준편차 3.87 mm) 였다 (Table IV). 2) Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기 1 절치점의위치 incisal pin 의중심으로부터수평거리는평균 38.0 mm ( 표준편차 5.23 mm) 였고, 남성 mm, 여성 mm 로여성이남성에비해약 6.0 mm 후방에위치하였다 (P < 0.05). 하대상연으로부터수직높이는평균 mm ( 표준편차 3.71 mm) 였으며, 남성 mm, 여성 51.10mm 로여성이남성에비해약 3.0 mm 상방에위치하였다 (P <.05) (Table V). 2 좌우구치점의위치 incisal pin 의중심으로부터수평거리는평균 mm ( 표준편차 4.36 mm) 였고, 남성이 mm, 여성이 mm 로여성이남성에비해약 4.2 mm 후방에위치하였다 (P <.05). 하대상연으로부터수직높이는평균 mm ( 표준편차 3.86 mm) 였으며, 남성 mm, 여성 mm 로여성이남성에비해약 3.2 mm 상방에위치하였다 (P <.05) (Table V). 3 교합기중심과하악치열의중심간의거리하악치열의중심은교합기의중심으로부터전방으로평균 0.22 mm ( 표준편차 4.6 6mm), 하방으로평균 0.94 mm ( 표준편차 3.56 mm) 떨어져있었고, 여성이남성에비해약 5.0 mm 후방, 3.2 mm 상방에위치하였으며 (P < 0.05), 두중심간평균거리는 5.36 mm ( 표준편차 2.47 mm) 였다 (Table VI). 고찰 - 전방시상과로각에관하여 - 악관절은하악운동의후방조절요소로서건강한사람에게서는임의적으로조절할수없는고정된요소이며악관절의해부학적형태와과로는보철학에서매우중 요한요소로생각되어져왔다. Olsson 과 Posselt 11 는시상과로각은교합평면, FH plane, Camper s plane, Nasion-Sella plane 과같은기준평면과이루는각도로서계측되며각기준평면에따라각도가달라진다고보고하였다. FH plane 을기준면으로측정한경우 Dieter 12 는우 50.5, 좌 50.2, Stern 13 은우 37.9, 좌 38.2, Pelletier 14 는우 45.3, 좌 44.9, 권등 15 은평균 43.33, 배등 16 은우 36.47, 좌 로보고하였다. axis-orbital plane 을기준면으로측정하였을때는 Isaacson 17 은평균 35.64, Lundeen 등 18 은평균 40, Pröschel 등 19 은평균 53, 권등 15 은평균 로보고하였다. Camper s plane 을기준면으로하여서는 El-Gheriani 20 는우 27.72, 좌 26.43, Zamacona 21 는우 35.75, 좌 36.6, Johnson 22 은우 31.5, 좌 32 로보고하였다. 이번연구에서는 FH plane 을기준면으로하는 Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기에서는평균 ( 표준편차 ), Camper s plane 을기준면으로하는 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기에서는평균 ( 표준편차 ) 로측정되어선학들의연구와유사한결과를보였다. 두교합기간시상과로각의차이는약 7 였다. 두교합기에서남녀간, 좌우간유의차는없었는데이는 Beard 등 23 의연구에서시상과로각은남녀간유의차가없었다는결과와일치하였다. 한편 Hobo 와 Shillingburg 4 는시상과로각은하악의전방운동과평형측운동중치아의교두경사로에영향을준다고하였으며실제환자의과로각보다크게조절될경우 positive error 가발생한다고하였다. Weinberg 24 는 Hanau 반조절성교합기 (model H) 에서시상과로각의 5 차이는균형측과두높이에서 0.1 mm 의오차를나타낸다고하였고, Price 25 는시상과로각의 5 차이는 3 mm 전방운동시교두높이는 0.13 mm 증가하고, 측방운동시균형측교두높이는 0.24 mm 증가한다고하였다. 이에반해 Pröschel 등 26 은가상교합기를이용한실험에서교합기의모든조절요소를피검자집단의평균치로설정한경우와나머지조절요소들은평균치로설정하고시상과로각만을피검자고유의값으로부여하였을때의제 2 대구치에서의 vertical error 발생비율을비교한결과, 0.2 mm 이상 positive error 의발생빈도는전자의경우 11% ( 균형측 ), 14% ( 작업측 ) 이었고, 후자의경우 9% ( 균형측 ), 11% ( 작업측 ) 로둘간의차이가크지않았다고보고하였다. - 교합평면경사도에관하여 - 일반적으로보철학에이용되는교합평면은하악중절치절단과하악의좌우제 2 대구치원심협측교두를포함 426 대한치과보철학회지 2008 년 46 권 4 호

8 하는가상의평면을일컬으며이는 Gysi 가정의한 Camper s plane 과거의평행을이룬다고알려져있다. 교합평면은교합재구성을행하는데있어서, 보철물의치관및교합면의형태를결정하는데불가결한기본적요소이다. 교합평면경사각에관한선학들의연구결과를살펴보면, FH plane 을기준면으로측정하였을때 Posselt 11 는 10.7, Ow 9,10 는 11.2 라고보고하였다. Camper s plane 을기준면으로하여서는 Posselt 11 는 -6.7, Niekerk 27 는 2.45, Ow 9,10 는 -2.1, 이등 28 은 라고보고하였다. 이번연구에서는 FH plane 을기준면으로하는 Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기에서는 ( 표준편차 3.63 ), Camper s plane 을기준면으로하는 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기에서는 ( 표준편차 3.63 ) 로측정되었다. 각연구마다기준면의전후방기준점이조금씩다르고교합평면의정의도일치하지않으므로결과수치를단순비교하는것은무리가있지만기존의연구성적과비교시대체로유사한결과를보인다고할수있었다. 한국인을대상으로한연구중정상성인 342 명의두부방사선계측에의한안 29 의연구자료로부터산출된결과에의하면교합평면경사도는 FH plane 에대해 10.86, ANS 와 tragus 중앙을연결한평면에대해서는 로구해졌다. 이는본실험결과와매우유사하였다. 또한안 29 의연구중교합평면과가장평행한관계를보이는평면은 ANS 와 tragus 중앙을연결한평면이라고하였는데이는 KaVo PROTAR 교합기의기준평면과거의일치한다. 일반적으로 FH plane 과 Camper s plane 간의각도차이는 8~15 로알려져있으며 Posselt 11 는 FH plane 과 Gysi 의 Camper s plane 간의각도차이는 11 라고보고하였다. 이번연구에서는두평면간각도차이를직접측정하지는않았지만두교합기간시상과로각과교합평면경사각의차이를간접비교해봄으로써기준평면간의각도차이를유추해보았다. 두교합기간시상과로각의차이는약 7, 교합평면경사각의차이는약 15 로계측항목간 8 의차이를보였다. 이는시상과로각측정시 wax check bite 의오차와 Hanau Modular 교합기의시상과로각측정시 housing 의미세한불안정함, 그리고반조절성교합기중 Hanau Modular 교합기의시상과로각의크기가다른반조절성교합기에비해상대적으로적게측정되는경향 30 에의한것이라사료되었다. - 하악의위치에관하여 - 일반적으로교합기는상하악모형이중앙높이에위치하도록설계, 제작되었다. 하지만이는서양인의악안면 구조를기준으로하였으며, Ow 9,10 가지적한중국인과서양인의악안면구조의차이에의해 orbitale 를전방기준점으로설정한교합기에상악모형을부착시너무후하방으로처지는경향을보인다는점을고려할때, 비슷한체형의한국인의경우에는모형의위치에있어서문제점은없는지살펴볼필요가있다. 연구결과 KaVo PROTAR 교합기에서는구치부가전치부에비해미약하게낮게위치하지만 (-1.87 mm) 표준편차범위내이므로교합기의중앙높이에위치한다고볼수있었다. Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기에서는하대로부터전치부는 mm, 구치부는 mm 높이에위치하였는데 Hanau Modular 교합기의중앙높이가 54 mm 임을고려하면, 교합기중앙높이로부터전치부는약 5 mm 하방, 구치부는약 3 mm 상방에위치한다고볼수있었다. Hanau Modular 교합기의경우피검자중전치부에서평균보다 4 mm 이상하방에위치한경우 ( 높이 45 mm 이하 ) 는 11.8% (7/59 명 ) 이었고 5 mm 이상 ( 높이 44 mm 이하 ) 은 6.8% (4/59 명 ) 였으며최대 6.7 mm ( 높이 mm) 로나타났다. 전치부치아길이 ( 약 10 mm), die base ( 약 10 mm), pin 의길이 ( 약 15~20 mm), mounting plaster 의두께, mounting plate 의두께 (9 mm) 를고려하면기공작업을위한공간이부족함을알수있다. 하지만이와같은공간부족이 Ow 의지적처럼인종적특성때문인지, Hanau Modular 교합기자체제원의기계적결함때문인지는본연구로알수없었다. 이에대해추후부가적인연구가필요하리라사료되었다. 교합기간전후상하제원이다르고남녀간악궁의크기가다르므로교합기의중심점과하악치열의중심점의위치를비교해봄으로써교합기에서의하악의위치를보다쉽게살펴보았다. 하악치열의중심은양교합기에서교합기중심으로부터 7 mm 이내에위치해있음으로보아대체로하악이교합기중앙에위치한다고판단되었다. 본연구에서여성이남성에비해후방혹은후상방에위치하는데, 피검자집단중남성의수가여성의 2.3 배 ( 남 : 여 = 41:18) 였음을감안했을때, 다소여성피검자수가적기는하였으나, 통계적유의차로인정되었다 (P <.05). 한편 Weinberg 24 는안궁전이시교합기상에서 face bow 의위치를높게잡더라도상대적으로교합기의시상과로각이낮게측정되므로전방운동시교두로에대한영향은없다고하였다. 전술하였던 Pröschel 26 의연구에의하면교합기의모든조절요소를피검집단의평균치로설정한경우와나머지 대한치과보철학회지 2008 년 46 권 4 호 427

9 조절요소들은평균치로설정하고시상과로각과하악모형의위치를피검자고유의값으로부여하였을때의제 2 대구치에서의 vertical error 발생비율을비교한결과 0.2 mm 이상 positive error 의발생빈도는전자의경우 11% ( 균형측 ), 14% ( 작업측 ) 이었고, 후자의경우 11% ( 균형측 ), 5% ( 작업측 ) 로임상에서흔히이용되는 check bite 를이용한시상과로각조절과안궁전이가실제로는평균치 setting 에비해교합면 error 를줄이는데큰효과가없다고하였다. 하지만이는모든조절요소를정확한평균치로설정하였을때차이가없다는것을의미하며정확한기준없이술자임의로조절하여도된다는것은아니다. 결론 기준면이다른두가지종류의반조절성교합기, Hanau Modular 와 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기를한국인에게적용함에있어서적절한기준을설정하고자, 교정치료의경험이없고제 3 대구치를제외한치아의결손이없으며, 교합평면의변화를수반한광범위한수복이없고악관절질환이없는남녀 59 명을대상으로반조절성교합기를이용한전방시상과로각, 교합평면경사각, 하악의위치를계측하여통계처리한결과다음과같은결론을얻었다. 1. 평균전방시상과로각은 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기에서 ( 표준편차 ) 였고, Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기상에서 ( 표준편차 ) 였다. 두교합기모두좌우측간, 남녀간유의차는없었다 (P >.05). 2. 평균교합평면경사각은 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기상에서 ( 표준편차 3.63 ) 였고, Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기상에서 ( 표준편차 3.63 ) 였다. 두교합기모두남녀간유의차는없었다 (P >.05). 3. 하악치열의중심은교합기의중심에서평균 5~7 mm 범위내에있었으며 KaVo PROTAR 반조절성교합기에서는전치부와구치부모두교합기의상하적위치관계에서중앙에위치하였고, Hanau Modular 반조절성교합기에서는교합기의중앙높이에서전치부는하방 5 mm, 구치부는상방 3 mm 에위치하였다. 참고문헌 1. 11 ORIGINAL ARTICLE A study of sagittal condylar inclination and occlusal plane inclination of two semiadjustablearticulators with different reference plane HyoJung Kim, DMD, Sung-Bok Lee, DMD, MSD, PhD, Dae-Gyun Choi, DMD, DDSc, Jin Bak, DMD, MSD, PhD Department of Prosthodontics and Institute of Oral Biology, School of Dentistry, Kyung-Hee University Statement of problem & Purpose: Articulators are very important for education and overall clinical situation in the field of prosthodontics, however preexisting articulators are designed and built based on maxillofacial structures and mean values of mandibular movement of Western people. Purpose of this research is to find out a adequate basis for applicating these articulators, presently used for clinical education, for Korean. Material and methods: 59 Korean adults (41 males, 18 females), aged between 24 to 41, where selected for this study. Two pairs of both maxillary and mandibular models were made for each examinee. These models where attached to both KaVo PROTARevo 7 and Hanau Modular semiadjustable articulators by using facebow transfer, than sagittal condylar inclination, occlusal plane inclination and position of mandibular on the articulator where measured. Result and conclusion: 1. Mean sagittal condylar inclination for KaVo PROTAR semiadjustable articulator was (standard deviation ) meanwhile Hanau Modular semiadjustable articulator showed (standard deviation ) for mean sagittal condylar inclination. 2. Mean occlusal plane inclination for KaVo PROTAR semiadjustable articulator was (standard deviation 3.63 ) meanwhile Hanau Modular semiadjustable articulator showed (standard deviation 3.63 ) for mean occlusal plane inclination. 3. On the average center of the mandibular dentition were in the range of 5 to 7 mm of the central position of the articulator. Both anterior and posterior dentition were positioned at the center of the articulator vernacularly for KaVo PROTAR semiadjustable articulators, meantime for Hanau Modular semiadjustable articulator, anterior dentition was positioned 5 mm downwards and 3mm upwards for posterior dentition from vertically central position of the articulator.
