Urban Environment Design Lab Through approx. 28 years experience, Chang-jo Architects fully believes that construction is not finished by one single building but completed as a successful building when design is in harmony with all the elements such as space, environment, etc. In order to pursue such a differentiated and new value, in 2008, it established the Urban Environment Design Lab consisting of construction/ urban/landscaping/environment design experts to create a beautiful and pleasant space.

4 06+07 도시 속의 친환경 건축 Urban environment-friendly construction 환경친화적인 건축의 관점에서 전경련회관은 매우 잘 조율된 악기와 같다. 전경련회관은 건물의 기능, 성능 및 효율을 증가시킬 수 있는 요소를 검토, 건축디자인 및 기술적 사항을 최고의 친환경 건축물이 되도록 적절하게 반영하였다. 이를 위해 마감과 관련된 부분도 친환경인증제품을 적극 적용하였으며, ODP(Ozone Depletion Potential, 오존층파괴지수)를 최소화할 수 있도록 계획하였다. In view of environment-friendly construction, FKI Hall is like a well tuned musical instrument. For the FKI Hall, the elements which can enhance the function, performance and efficiency of a building were reviewed, and building design and technical items were properly reflected, so that it can be the best environment-friendly building. Also, we actively applied certified environment-friendly products to the finishing related parts and planed to minimize ODP(Ozone Depletion Potential). 친환경 에너지 계획 Environment-friendly energy plan 에너지 사용절감과 효율향상을 위해 다양한 방안들을 도입하였다. 경사진 커튼 월의 차양효과를 이용해 냉방부하를 저감하고, 외벽 및 지붕 커튼 월에 건물일체형 태양 집광판(Building-Integrated Photovoltanics) 시스템을 적용하여 그린에너지를 생산한다. 또한 바닥공조 시스템 및 저온공조방식을 도입하여 에너지 절약이 가능하도록 하였다. 옥상정원은 냉난방에너지 부하 절감 효과를 가지며, 친환경 수공간은 열섬 현상을 완화하고 쾌적한 지상환경을 구축할 것이다. We introduced various measures to reduce energy use and to enhance efficiency. We reduce cooling load using the shading effect of a sloping curtain wall and produce green energy applying BIPV(Building-Integrated Photovoltaics System) to outer wall and roof curtain wall. Besides, the underfloor air distribution system and the cold air distribution method enable energy saving. A roof garden has the reduction effect of heating and cooling energy load, with the environment-friendly water space which alleviates the urban heat island and builds pleasant ground environment.

5 Design Technology 경사진 커튼 월 + BIPV Sloping Curtain Wall + BIPV 포디움 Podium 전경련회관의 경사 커튼 월은 디자인 요소로서 전경련회관에 상징성을 부여할 뿐 아니라, 친환경 디자인의 핵심적인 역할을 수행한다. 경사진 형태의 커튼 월은 수직 형태의 커튼 월에 비해, 실내로 유입되는 빛의 양을 줄여 냉방부하를 감소시킨다. 지상 21층부터 남서측과 남동측 커튼 월의 상부 경사면에 설치된 태양 집광판으로 에너지를 생산한다. 커튼 월의 경사도는 외부에서의 시각적 효과, 실내에서의 시원한 시야확보, 에너지 사용절감 등의 여러 측면을 고려하여 결정되었다. The sloping curtain wall of the FKI Hall not only gives the symbolism as an design element to the FKI Hall but also plays a key role of environment-friendly design. Compared with a vertical curtain wall, a sloping curtain wall reduces the amount of light coming indoors and cooling load. It also produces energy using the BIPV installed in the top of incline of curtain wall in the south west and the south east from the 21st floor upwards. The gradient of a curtain wall is decided in consideration of various aspects such as visual effect from outside, indoor clear view, reduction of energy usage, etc 형태 Shape 포디움은 타워의 주름진 사각 형태에 대응하여 달걀을 연상시키는 매끄러운 유선형 외관을 가진다. 투명도가 높은 접합복층유리와 무광택 알루미늄 패널의 3차원 곡면을 이용하여 유선형으로 계획하였다. 경제적이고 안정적인 3차원 곡면유리의 시공을 위해 특수 공법이 아시아 최초로 도입되었다. 포디움 2층 하부로는 투명한 Low-E 복층 유리가 적용되고 2층 상부로는 세라믹 패턴을 적용한 Low-E 복층 유리가 적용되었다. 세라믹 패턴은 수직 방향으로 올라갈수록 밀도가 높아져 실내로 유입되는 햇빛의 양을 조절한다. 전경련회관 포디움의 독특한 형태는 여의대로의 단순한 사각형 건물들 사이에서 하나의 조각작품으로 자리매김할 것이다. Confronting the rippled square shape, a podium has a smooth streamlined appearance reminding us of an egg. Using the joined duplex glass of high transparency and the 3-dimentional curved surface of an aluminum panel, it was designed to be streamlined. For the construction of economical and stable 3-dimentional curved surface glass, a special method of construction was introduced for the first time in Asia. The transparent Low-E duplex glass was applied to the lower part of the 2nd floor of the podium, and Low-E duplex glass with ceramic pattern was applied to the upper part of the 2nd floor. The density of ceramic pattern increases as it goes up vertically, and this adjusts the amount of sunlight flowed indoors. The unique style of the FKI Hall Podium will emerge as one sculpture among simple square buildings in Yeoui Main Street. VS Low-E유리 Low-Emissivity Glass 내부의 유리에는 특수 금속 막(매우 얇고 투명한 은과 흡수성이 강한 산화금속을 여러 겹 유리 위에 코팅)을 코팅하여 단열성능을 극대화한 고단열 유리를 사용하였다. High insulation glass whose inner glass is coated with special 태양집광판 BIPV 빛의 확산 Diffusion of light 경사입면과 수직입면의 햇빛 유입 비교 Comparison of sunlight inflow of sloping façade with vertical facade metal film (coating with multiple layers of very thin and transparent silver and oxide metal of very strong absorption) is used to maximize insulation performance. 1) 상부 경사면 태양집광판(BIPV) 하절기/ 동절기, 오전/오후에 따라 달라지는 태양고도에 대응하여 에너지 생산을 최대화할 수 있도록 경사 각도를 결정하였다. 2) 빛의 확산 Vision 구간(바닥과 천장 사이의 시야가 확보되는 구간)의 경사진 유리는 낮은 고도로 유입되는 햇빛의 유입 각도를 변형시켜 눈부심 현상을 완화하고 조명효율을 높여준다. 3) 상부 경사입면의 차양 효과 경사진 상부입면(스팬드럴 부분)은 태양빛을 차단하는 차양 효과가 있다. 유리창 면적이 더 넓지만, 실내로 유입되는 햇빛의 양은 수직입면인 경우보다 줄어들어 냉방부하가 작아진다. 1) Upper incline BIPV A tilt angle is decided to respond the altitude of the sun which changes according to summer/winter and morning/afternoon and to finally maximize energy production. 2) Diffusion of light The sloping glass of a Vision sector changes the angle of sunlight flowed in to low altitudes, alleviates glare and raises the efficiency of lighting. 3) Shading effect of the upper sloping facade The sloping upper façade (spandrel part) has shading effect blocking sunlight. The area of glass window is wider but the amount of sunlight flowed indoors is less leading to reduction of cooling load. Podium Rib Layout

7 12+13 태양열 발전 시스템(PV) 에너지 효율의 극대화 Maximizing energy efficiency 이중 외피 한국전력공사 신사옥은 최신 건축공법과 첨단 시스템을 바탕으로 오피스 업무에 적합한 쾌적하고 유연성있는 공간을 제공한다. 첨단시설의 냉난방 Based on the latest construction method and cutting edge system, the new head office of KEPCO provides a 에너지 소비량을 절감시키기 위해 지중 축냉시스템, 흡수식히트펌프, comfortable and flexible space suitable for office business. 천장형 복사패널, 바닥급기공조 및 자연환기를 최대화할 수 있는 건축 To reduce the heating and cooling energy consumption of 계획이 적용되었다. the cutting edge facilities, applied were underground cold storage system, absorptive heat pump, ceiling radiant panel, 태양열 발전 시스템(PV) floor air supply and natural ventilation. 지중 축냉 시스템 태양광 발전 시스템(BIPV) 열덕트 시스템 새로운 공간의 창출 The creation of a new space 수공간 글로벌 에너지 기업으로서 한국전력공사의 위상이 하늘을 향해 솟아오른 듯한 역동적 모습을 구현했다. 또한 업무 공간을 중심으로 구성된 주요 시설이 포디움을 통해 강조되었다. 건물의 안과 밖은 인간과 자연, 첨단과 기술이 조화를 이루는 공간으로 재탄생되었다. The building embodies the dynamic figure of KEPCO as a global energy company, soaring up to the sky. Main facilities centering work spaces are highlighted by the podium. Double skin system adopting high insulation glass combined by shading device for keeping pleasant thermal environment was designed, and this reduces cooling load by 48% compared with single skin. 겨울철에 냉각탑, 중온수 흡수식 냉동기로 냉열을 생산하여 지중 축냉 시스템에 저장 후, 여름철에 건물 냉방에 활용하였다. (국내 최초 적용 / 독일 HL Technik사 + 창조건축) It produces cold and heat using a cooling tower and medium temperature hot water absorptive freezer in winter, stores them in an underground cold storage system and utilizes them for building air conditioning in summer. (Applied for the first time in Korea / Germany HL Technik + Chang-jo Architects) 나주 지역의 온도, 습도 분석에 의하면 연간 44%에 해당하는 시간 동안 자연환기가 가능하며 열덕트, 열굴뚝, 이중외피에 의한 자연환기방식을 도입하였다. (국내최초 업무시설적용 / 독일 HL Technik사 + 창조건축) According to the analysis of the temperature and humidity of Naju area, natural ventilation is probable for 44% of time per year, and natural ventilation by heat duct, heat chimney and dual envelop is introduced. 8 Design Technology 설계 전과정 BIM 활용 Utilizing BIM for entire design process 한국전력공사 신사옥은 3차원 건축설계방식인 BIM(Building Information Modeling) 계획에 의해 설계되었다. 건축 BIM의 경우 공간모델, 건물모델, 외피모델에 활용되었고 시각화 부문에서는 투시도 및 조감도, 주요실 투시도, 일조분석에 활용되었다. 건축BIM의 경우 기본 설계 완료 후 다음 단계로 넘어갈 때 기술 제안자의 디자인 의도가 정확하게 전달되는 것이 중요하기 때문에 정확한 모델링에 만전을 기했다. The KEPCO new office was designed by BIM(Building Information Modeling) plan, the 3-dimentional construction design method. Construction BIM was utilized for space model, building model and envelop model, and in visualization sector, for perspective plan, aerial view, perspective plan of main rooms and analysis of sunshine. 10 망마산 - 공연장, 기획전시장 2 장도 - 상설전시장 GS칼텍스 문화예술공원이 위치하는 여수는 경상도와 전라도 다도해의 경계선에 자리 잡고 있다. 남해안의 아름다운 자연경관을 가진 여수는 순천, 여천(인구 약 100만)과 연계되어 국내 4대 산업도시 중 하나로 성장하고 있으나 주민을 위한 문화시설은 미비한 실정이다. 글로벌 기업인 GS칼텍스는 이러한 지역 문화 발전과 2012 여수엑스포 개최에 맞춰 사회공헌사업의 일환으로 GS칼텍스 여수문화예술공원을 계획하게 되었다. GS칼텍스 문화예술공원은 산과 섬, 바다와 다도해의 아름다운 해양경관과 어우러지며, 다목적 음악공연장(1,100석+300석), 미술관, 에너지 홍보관, 시민 휴게시설 및 옥외 해안공원을 제공함으로써 국내 및 국제적으로 차별화된 종합 해안 문화예술공원으로 탄생할 예정이다. GS칼텍스 문화예술공원이 완성되면 남해안의 아름다운 생태계를 널리 알리고, 남해안 지역의 새로운 문화 인프라로 자리하여 도시 발전의 발판이 될 것이다. Yeosu where GS Caltex Yeosu Cultural Park is located on the border of Gyeongsang-do and Jeolla-do archipelago. Yeosu having the beautiful natural landscape of the southern coast is linked to Suncheon and Yeocheon (population approx. 1 million) and is growing as one of Korea s 4 industrial cities, but has incomplete cultural facilities for citizens. In line with the community cultural development and the hosting of 2012 Yeosu Expo, GS Caltex, the global company, came to plan Yeosu Cultural Park. It is in harmony with the beautiful marine landscape of mountain, island, sea and archipelago, and will be born to be the general seaside cultural park differentiated at home and abroad by providing multi-purpose music performance hall (1,100 seats seats), art museum, energy PR hall, civil rest areas and outdoor seaside park. Once completed, GS Caltex Yeosu Cultural Park will become the steppingstone of urban development by heralding the beautiful ecosystem of the southern coast and positioning as the new cultural infrastructure of the southern coast region.

11 20+21 환경을 먼저 생각하는 친환경 기술 실천 Practice of environment-friendly technology 자연에 순응하는 것에서 한걸음 나아가 자연을 개발하여 생활을 풍요롭게 하는 것을 목표로 여수의 망마산을 중심으로 산과 바다로의 조망을 극대화시켰다. 산기슭에 주요 시설물을 배치하여 자연훼손을 최소화하는 친환경적 도시 계획이 이루어질 예정이다. It maximizes the view to mountain and sea, centering Mt. Mangma of Yeosu to adapt and develop nature and enrich life. Main facilities are placed at the foot of a mountain to minimize the damage to nature pursuing the environment-friendly city. 도시 발전의 새로운 패러다임 A new paradigm for urban development 여수의 주요 문화예술시설의 거점이 되고 적극적인 주민 참여 시설로 활용될 수 있도록 계획에 중점을 두었다. 공연장, 전시장 이외에도 전망시설, 아틀리에, 카페테리아 및 공원 내 휴게시설 등을 계획하여 모두가 풍요로운 문화생활을 향유할 수 있는 도시 건축의 새로운 가치를 창조한다. It is focused on the plan to be utilized as the base of Yeosu major cultural and art facilities and as the facility of active civil participation. In addition to performance hall and exhibition hall, observatory, atelier, cafeteria, and rest areas in a park are planned, and a new value of urban construction is created to enable everybody to enjoy rich cultural life.

The young street of Apgujeong Rodeo Road provides an optimum solution which can satisfy various needs based on experience and technology accumulated in local projects. It improved walking environment with differentiated strategies including street with view, street with nature, street with light of day and night and street with story, from the initial stage. Furthermore, we devised an integrated design plan from street design to landscape design, paving, facilities, color and symbolic logo and raised the brand value.

16 30+31 승산공원 사시사철 언제나 꽃이 피는 공원 In bloom all year round Seungsan Park 약 550년 역사를 간직한 전통문화마을인 진주시 지수면 승산마을의 보호와 역사성을 재현하기 위하여 마을 중앙에 주민과 방문객들의 휴식 공간으로 승산공원을 만들었다. 승산공원의 가옥과 낮은 담장은 전통마을의 삶 과 쉼 이라는 기능과 아름다움을 그대로 따랐다. 그래서 승산마을이 고향인 사람들에게 승산공원은 추억의 빗장을 여는 문고리이다. 1500평 정도인 승산공원은 규모로는 그리 크지 않지만 한국에서 유일하게 사시사철 꽃을 볼 수 있는 공원이다. 중부지방에서는 보기 힘든 은목서, 애기동백 등 제주와 남해안에서 자라는 사철나무 중 꽃 피는 나무와 모감주, 떼죽나무 등 낙엽수 중 꽃이 예쁜 다양한 나무들을 식재하여, 3월 이른 봄부터 11월 늦은 가을까지 월별 계절별로 항상 꽃을 볼 수 있는 공원이다. 2008년 경상남도 그린대상을 수상한 이유는 규모가 아니라 사계절 동안 펼쳐지는 꽃의 향연 때문이었다. 승산공원에 심어진 나무와 야생화는 모두 예부터 한국에서 전해 내려오는 것들이다. 임진왜란 이전을 기준으로 각종 문헌에 기록된 나무와 야생화만을 선별했기 때문이다. 이와 함께 제주에서 자라는 수령 100년의 팽나무를 비롯해서 전국 야산에서 자라는 나무와 야생화도 옮겨 심었다. 125 종의 전통 수목과 140여 종의 한국 전통 야생화를 볼 수 있는 야외 공원이 바로 승산공원이다. As resting space for villagers and visitors, Seungsan Park has been created in the center of the Seungsan village, the traditional and cultural hamlet with about 550 years of its history in Jisu-myeon of Jinju city for the preservation of the village and the recreation of its historic aspects. The houses and low fences in Seungsan Park have exactly represented the function and beauty, that is, the 'life' and 'relaxation' in the traditional village. For this reason, Seungsan Park is the door leading such people who came from the Seungsan village to their own memories. About 1,500 Pyeong area of Seungsan Park is not such large one in size, but this is the only place in Korea where you can see flowers all year round. 20 38+39 세계 최대의 교량조명 프로젝트 The world s largest bridge lighting project 인천대교의 경관조명은 동북아중심지의 열린 관문으로서, 환영의 이미지를 담아 인천 송도와 영종도를 연결하는 빛의 라인을 형성한다. 이번 프로젝트는 야간 명소로 그 상징성을 부각하는 데 중점을 두었다. 특히 자연 친화적 컬러로 주탑, 케이블, 교량 측면을 각각 연출하여 대교의 웅장함과 아름다움을 표현하였다. 대교의 케이블 부분과 연결되는 교량의 측면을 함께 조명하여 해상 운항 시의 안전성은 물론 세계 5위, 아시아 최대규모 사장교의 상징성을 부각하였다. As an open gateway to the center of the northeast asia, the lighting of Incheon Bridge with the welcoming image forms a light line connecting Songdo and Youngjongdo of Incheon. This project highlighted the symbolism of light attraction. Especially the grandiosity and beauty of the bridge were expressed by using nature-friendly colors on pylon, cable and sides of the bridge. Lighting the sides of the bridge connects to its cables, highlighting the symbolism of the world s 5th and asia s largest cable-stayed bridge as well as securing the safety of marine sailing.
