1 요한복음영어로말하기제 71 강 " 요한복음 1-6 장 Good News Bible" 1) 태초에말씀이이미존재하셨다. 그말씀이하나님과함께계셨으니 그말씀은하나님이셨다. 1) In the beginning, the Word already existed; the Word was with God and the Word was God. 2) 태초부터그말씀은하나님과함께계셨다. 2) From the very beginning the Word was with God. 3) 그분을통해하나님께서만물을지으셨다. 모든피조물중어느것하나도그분없이지어진것이없었다. 3) Through him God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him. 4) 그말씀은생명의근원이었으며이생명은사람들에게빛을가져다주었다. 5) 그빛은어둠속에서비추고있으며그어두움은결코그것을끄지못했다. 4) The Word was the source of life, and this life brought light to people. 5) The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out. 6) 하나님께서요한이라하는그의사자를보내셨다. 6) God sent his messenger, a man named John,

2 7) 그는그빛에관해사람들에게말해주러왔는데, 모든사람들이그메시지를듣고믿게하려는것이었다. 7) who came to tell people about the light, so that all should hear the message and believe. 8) 그자신은빛이아니었고빛에대하여말하러그는왔다. 8) He himself was not the light; he came to tell about the light. 9) 이사람이참빛이니, 곧세상에와서모든사람들에게비추는빛이라. 9) This was the real light the light that comes into the world and shines on all people. 10) 그말씀이세상에계셨고, 하나님이그분을통해세상을지으셨는데도불구하고세상은그분을알아보지못했다. 10) The Word was in the world, and though God made the world through him, yet the world did not recognize him. 11) 그분이자기자신의나라에오셨지만, 그분자신의백성들은그분을영접하지않았다. 11) He came to his own country, but his own people did not receive him. 12) 하지만몇몇은그분을영접하고그분을믿었다 ; 그래서그분은그들에게하나님의자녀가되는권리를주셨다. 12) Some, however, did receive him and believed in him; so he gave them the right to become God s children. 13) 그들은자연적수단즉인간아버지의자녀로태어남으로하나님의자 13) They did not become God s children by natural means, that is,

3 녀가된것은아니었다. 하나님이자신이그들의아버지셨다 by being born as the children of a human father; God himself was their Father. 14) 그말씀은인간이되셨고은혜와진리가충만하여우리가운데거하셨다. 우리는그분의영광을보았는데아버지의독생자로서그분이받은영광이었다. 14) The Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth, lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which he received as the Father s only Son. 15) 요한은그분에대하여말했다. 이분이바로내가 그분은내뒤에오시나나보다더위대하신것은내가태어나기전에존재하셨기때문이다 라고할때말하던분이다. 15) John spoke about him. This is the one I was talking about when I said: "He comes after me but he is greater than I am, because he existed before I was born." 16) 그분의은혜의충만함으로부터그분은우리모두를축복하셔서, 우리에게축복뒤에또축복을주셨다. 16) Out of the fullness of his grace he has blessed us all, giving us one blessing after another. 17) 하나님은모세를통해율법을주셨다. 하지만은혜와진리는예수그리스도를통해왔다. 17) God gave the Law through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18) 이제까지하나님을본사람은아무도없다. 하나님과동등하시며아버지곁에계시는독생자, 그분이하나님을알려주셨다. 18) No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is the same as God and is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

4 19) 예루살렘에있는유대인권세가들이제사장들과레위인몇명을요한에게보냈다. 너는누구냐? 19) The Jewish authorities in Jerusalem sent some priests and Levites to John. Who are you? 20) 요한은답변하기를거절하지않고숨김없이분명하게말했다. 나는메시아가아니다. 20) John did not refuse to answer, but spoke out openly and clearly. "I am not the Messiah." 21) 그러면너는누구냐? 엘리야냐? 아니다. 예언자이냐? 아니다. 21) Who are you then? Are you Elijah? No, I'm not. Are you the Prophet? No. 22) 그러면네가누구인지우리에게말해라. 우리는우리를보낸사람들에게답변을받아가야한다. 너는너자신에대해무엇이라고하느냐? 22) Then tell us who you are. We have to take an answer back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself? 23) 요한은예언자이사야선지자의말씀을인용하여대답했다 : 나는 주님이다니시도록곧은길을만들어라 라고광야에서외치는어떤사람의소리다. 23) John answered by quoting the prophet, Isaiah: "I am the voice of someone shouting in the desert: Make a straight path for the Lord to travel!'" 24) 바리새인들에의해서보내졌던사자들이 24)The messengers, who had been sent by the Pharisees,

5 25) 그때요한에게물었다 : 네가메시아도아니고, 엘리야도아니고그예언자도아니라면, 어째서세례를주느냐? 25) then asked John: "If you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah nor the Prophet, why do you baptize?" 26) 나는물로세례를주지만너희가운데너희들이알지못하는한분이서계신다. 26) I baptize with water. But among you stands the one you do not know. 27) 그분은내뒤에오시지만나는그분의신발끈을풀어드릴자격조차없다. 27) He is coming after me, but I am not good enough even to untie his sandals. 28) 이모든일은요한이세례를주던곳, 요단강동쪽편베다니에서일어났다. 28) All this happened in Bethany on the east side of the River Jordan, where John was baptizing. 29) 그다음날요한은예수님이자기에게오시는것을보았다. " 저기세상죄를지고가는하나님의어린양이시다! 29) The next day John saw Jesus coming to him. "There is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" 30) 이분이바로내가 한사람이내뒤에오시나그가나보다더위대하다, 왜냐하면그분은내가태어나기전에존재하셨기때문이다 라고할때말했던그분이다. 30) This is the one I was talking about when I said, A man is coming after me, but he is greater than I am, because he existed before I was born.

6 31) 나는그분이누구일지알지못했다. 하지만나는그분을이스라엘백성들에게알려지도록와서물로세례를주었다. 31) I did not know who he would be, but I came baptizing with water in order to make him known to the people of Israel. 32) 그리고요한이이증언을하였다 : " 나는성령이비둘기처럼하늘로부터내려와서그분위에머무는것을보았다. 32) And John gave this testimony: I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from heaven and stay on him. 33) 나는여전히그가그분인줄을알지못하였다. 하지만물로세례를주도록나를보내신하나님께서내게말씀하시기를, ' 너는성령이내려와한남자위에머무르는것을보게될것이다 ; 그가성령으로세례를주는그사람이다.' 33) I still did not know that he was the one, but God, who sent me to baptize with water, had said to me, You will see the Spirit come down and stay on a man; he is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. 34) 내가그것을보았고, 나는그분이하나님의아들이심을너희에게말한다. 34) I have seen it, and I tell you that he is the Son of God." 35) 그다음날요한은그의제자두사람과함께다시그자리에서있었다. 35) The next day John was standing there again with two of his disciples, 36) 그때그는예수님께서지나가시는것을보았다. " 저기하나님의어린양이계신다." 36) when he saw Jesus walking by. There is the Lamb of God!

7 37) 그제자두사람은그가이렇게말하는것을듣고예수님과함께갔다. 37) The two disciples heard him say this and went with Jesus. 38) 예수님께서몸을돌려, 그들이자기를따라오는것을보셨다. 무엇을찾느냐? 사시는곳이어디입니까, 랍비님? ( 이말은 " 선생 이라는의미이다 ) 38) Jesus turned, saw them following him. What are you looking for? Where do you live, Rabbi? (This word means Teacher. ) 39) 와서보아라. 그때는오후 4시쯤이었다. 그래서그들은그분과함께갔고그분이사시는곳을보았으며그날의나머지를그분과함께보냈다. 39) Come and see." (It was then about four o clock in the afternoon.) So they went with him and saw where he lived, and spent the rest of that day with him 40) 그들중한명은시몬베드로의형제안드레였다. 40) One of them was Andrew, Simon Peter s brother. 41) 즉시그는그의형제시몬을찾았다. 우리가메시아를찾았어. ( 이말은그리스도를뜻한다. ) 41)At once he found his brother Simon. We have found the Messiah. (This word means Christ. ) 42) 그런다음그는시몬을예수님께데리고갔다. 예수님께서그를바라보셨다. 42) Then he took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him.

8 43) 네이름은요한의아들시몬이다. 하지만너는게바라불릴것이다. 이것은베드로와같으며 바위 라는의미이다 43) Your name is Simon son of John, but you will be called Cephas. (This is the same as Peter and means a rock. ) 44) ( 빌립은안드레와베드로가살았던마을벳새다출신이었다.) 44) (Philip was from Bethsaida, the town where Andrew and Peter lived.) 45) 필립은나다나엘을발견했다. " 우리는모세가율법책에기록하였고선지자들도기록한그사람을발견했다." 그분은나사렛출신요셉의아들예수시다. 45) Philip found Nathanael. We have found the one whom Moses wrote about in the book of the Law and whom the prophets also wrote about. He is Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth. 46) 나사렛에서어떤선한것이나올수있느냐? 와서보라. 46) Can anything good come from Nazareth? Come and see. 48) " 당신이어떻게나를아십니까?" " 빌립이너를부르기전네가무화과나무아래에있었을때내가너를보았노라." 48) "How do you know me?" "I saw you when you were under the fig tree before Philip called you." 49)" 선생이여, 당신은하나님의아들이십니다. 당신은이스라엘의왕이십니다!" 49) "Teacher, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!"

9 50) " 네가무화과나무아래에있을때내가너를보았다고너에게말해서믿느냐? 너는이것보다훨씬더큰일을보게될것이다!" 50) "Do you believe just because I told you I saw you when you were under the fig tree? You will see much greater things than this!" 2 장 1) 이틀후갈릴리가나마을에 결혼식이하나있었다. 예수님의어머니가그곳에있었고, 1)Two days later there was a wedding in the town of Cana in Galilee. Jesus mother was there, 2) 예수님과그분의제자들도그결혼식에초대받았다. 2)and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3) 포도주가다떨어졌을때, 예수님의어머니가그분께 그들이포도주가떨어졌다. 고말해주었다. 3)When the wine had given out, Jesus mother said to him, "They are out of wine." 4) 마님 당신이이일과무슨상관이있습니까? 나의때는아직오지않았습니다. 4)"Madam." "what do you have to do with this?" "My time has not yet come."" 5) 그가너희에게말하는것은무엇이든행하라. 6) 유대인들은정결예식에관한규례들을가지고있다. 그래서이러한목적으로 6 개의돌로만든물 5)"Do whatever he tells you." 6)The Jews have rules about ritual washing, and for this purpose six stone water jars were there,

10 항아리가거기에있었는데, 각각 20 에서 30 갤런을담을수있을만한크기였다. each one large enough to hold between twenty and thirty gallons. 7) 이항아리들을물로채우라. 그들은 그 항아리들을 아구까지 채웠다. 7)"Fill these jars with water." They filled them to the brim. 8)" 이제물을조금퍼서잔치를주관하는사람에게갖다주어라. 8)"Now draw some water out and take it to the man in charge of the feast." 그들이그에게그물을갖다주자, 9) 그것은이제포도주로변해있었는데, 그는그것을맛보았다. They took him the water, 9)which now had turned into wine, and he tasted it. 그는이포도주가어디서난것인지몰랐다. But you have kept the best wine until now"

11 11) 예수님은이첫기적을갈릴리가나에서행하셨다 ; 그곳에서그분은자신의영광을드러내셨고그분의제자들은그분을믿었다. 11)Jesus performed this first miracle in Cana in Galilee; there he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. 12) 이일이있은뒤에, 예수님과그분의어머니, 형제들과제자들은가버나움으로가서거기에서며칠머물렀다. 12)After this, Jesus and his mother, brothers, and disciples went to Capernaum and stayed there a few days. 13) 유월절축제시기가거의되었다, 그래서예수님은예루살렘으로가셨다. 14) 그곳성전안에서그분은사람들이소와양과비둘기들을팔고있는것과환전상들이그들의탁자에앉아있는것을발견하셨다. 13)It was almost time for the Passover Festival, so Jesus went to Jerusalem. 14)There in the Temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and pigeons, and also the moneychangers sitting at their tables. 15) 그래서그분은노끈으로채찍을만들어, 모든짐승들을성전밖으로쫓아내셨다, 양들과소들둘다. 그분은환전상들의상들을뒤엎으시고그들의동전들을흩트리셨다. 15) So he made a whip from cords and drove all the animals out of the Temple, both the sheep and the cattle; he overturned the tables of the moneychangers and scattered their coins;

12 16) 그리고 비둘기들을 파는 사람들에게 명령하셨다, 그것들을 여기서가지고나가라! 내아버지의 집을시장터로만들지말라. 16) and he ordered those who sold the pigeons, "Take them out of here! Stop making my Father s house a marketplace!" 17) 그분의제자들은 오하나님, 당신의집에대한나의열정이내안에서불길처럼타오릅니다. 라고성경이말한것을기억하였다. 18) 유대권세가들이그분께질문을가지고돌아왔다, 그대는이러한일을할권리를가지고있음을우리에게보여줄수있는무슨기적을행할수있느냐? 19) 이성전을허물어라, 그러면삼일안에내가그것을다시세우리라. 17) His disciples remembered that the scripture says, "My devotion to your house, O God, burns in me like a fire." 18)The Jewish authorities came back at him with a question, "What miracle can you perform to show us that you have the right to do this?" 19)"Tear down this Temple, and in three days I will build it again." 20)"Are you going to build it again 20) 네가그것을삼일안에다시세우겠다고? 이성전을짓는데 46 년이나걸렸다! 21) 그러나예수님께서말씀하신그성전은자신의몸이었다. 22) 그러므로그분께서죽음에서부활하셨을때그분의제자들은그분이 in three days?" "It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple!" 21)But the temple Jesus was speaking about was his body. 22)So when he was raised from

13 이것을 말씀했던 것을 기억했고 성경과 예수님이 말씀하신 것을 믿었다. 23) 예수님께서 유월절 축제기간에 예루살렘에계시는동안그분께서 행하신기적을보고많은사람들이 그분을믿었다. 24) 하지만그들모두를알고계셨기 때문에 예수님은 그들에게 자신을 맡기지않으셨다. 25) 그분자신이그들의마음속에 무엇이 들어있는지 알고 계셨기 때문에 그들에 관하여 누군가가 그분께말씀드릴필요가없었다. 3 장 1) 바리새파에속한니고데모라는 한유대지도자가있었다. 2) 어느날밤그는예수님께갔다. 선생이여, 우리는당신이하나님께보내심을받은선생님이라는것을알고있습니다. 하나님이함께하시지않는다면당신이하시는그기적들을아무도행할수없습니다. 3) 내가진실로네게이르노니거듭나지않으면아무도하나님나라를볼수가없느니라. death, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and what Jesus had said. 23)While Jesus was in Jerusalem during the Passover Festival, many believed in him as they saw the miracles he performed. 24)But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew them all. 25)There was no need for anyone to tell him about them, because he himself knew what was in their hearts. 1)There was a Jewish leader named Nicodemus, who belonged to the party of the Pharisees. 2) One night he went to Jesus. "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher sent by God. No one could perform the miracles you are doing unless God were with him." 3)"I am telling you the truth: no one can see the Kingdom of God without being born again."

14 4) 다자란사람이어떻게다시태어날수있겠습니까? 그는분명어머니의뱃속에들어가두번씩이나태어날수는없습니다. 4)"How can a grown man be born again?" "He certainly cannot enter his mother s womb and be born a second time! 5) 내가진실로네게이르노니물과성령으로태어남이없으면아무도하나님나라에들어갈수없느니라. 6) 사람은육적으로는인간부모로부터태어나지만영적으로는성령으로부터태어난다. 7) 너희모두가다시태어나야한다고내가너희에게말한다고놀라지말라 5)"I am telling you the truth. No one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. 6) A person is born physically of human parents, but is born spiritually of the Spirit. 7) Do not be surprised because I tell you that you must all be born again. 8) 바람은어디로든지원하는대로분다. 너는그것이내는소리는들으나그것이어디로부터오는것인지혹은어디로가고있는지알지못한다. 성령으로태어나는모든사람에게도그와같은것이니라. 8) The wind blows wherever it wishes; you hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. It is like that with everyone who is born of the Spirit." 9) 이런 일이 어떻게 있을 수 있습니까? 10) 너는 이스라엘에서 고명한 선생이면서이것을모르느냐? 9) "How can this be?" 10) "You are a great teacher in Israel, and you don t know this?

15 11) 내가진실로네게이르노니우리는우리가아는것을말하고우리가본것을알린다. 하지만너희중아무도우리의메시지를기꺼이받아들이려고하지않는다. 11) I am telling you the truth: we speak of what we know and report what we have seen, yet none of you is willing to accept our message. 12) You do not believe me when I 12) 내가이세상일에관하여너희에게말할때너희가나를믿지않는데그렇다면내가하늘의일에관하여말할때너희가어찌나를믿겠느냐? tell you about the things of this world; how will you ever believe me, then, when I tell you about the things of heaven? 13) 하늘에서내려온인자외에는지금까지아무도하늘에올라간적이없다. 13) And no one has ever gone up to heaven except the Son of Man, who came down from heaven." 14) As Moses lifted up the bronze 14) 모세가광야에서막대위에놋뱀을들어올린것같이동일하게인자도들려야만하리니, 15) 이는그를믿는모든사람들이영생을얻도록하려함이니라. 16) 하나님이세상을너무나사랑하셔서자신의독생자를주셨으니이는그를믿는모든사람으로하여금죽지않고영생을얻게하려하심이라. snake on a pole in the desert, in the same way the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15) so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. 16)For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.

16 17) 하나님이세상의심판자가되게하려고자신의아들을세상으로보내신것이아니라세상의구원자가되게하시려고보내신것이다. 17)For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior. 18) 아들을믿는자들은심판을받지않으나믿지않는자들은이미심판을받았으니이는그들이하나님의독생자를믿지않고있음이라. 18)Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged, because they have not believed in God s only Son. 19) 이것이 바로 심판이 일하는 방식이니 : 빛이 세상에 왔지만 사람들은오히려빛보다어둠을더 사랑한다, 이는그들의행위가악하기 때문이다. 19) This is how the judgment works: the light has come into the world, but people love the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds are evil. 20) 악한일들을행하는자들은빛을미워하며빛으로나오려하지않을것이니이는그들의악행이드러나게되는것을원치않음이니라. 20)Those who do evil things hate the light and will not come to the light, because they do not want their evil deeds to be shown up. 21) 하지만진리를행하는자들은빛을향해나오나니이는그들이행했던것이하나님께순종하는것이었음을빛이보여주기위함이라. 21)But those who do what is true come to the light in order that the light may show that what they did was in obedience to God.

17 22) 이일이있은후예수님과그분의제자들은유대지방으로갔는데거기서그분은그들과함께얼마간시간을보내시고세례를주셨다. 22)After this, Jesus and his disciples went to the province of Judea, where he spent some time with them and baptized. 23) 요한도살렘으로부터멀지않은 애논에서세례를주고있었는데이는 그곳에물이많았기때문이다. 23)John also was baptizing in Aenon, not far from Salim, because there was plenty of water in that place. 사람들이그에게나아갔고그는그들에게세례를주었다. 24) ( 이때는요한이아직옥에투옥되기전이었다.) 25) 요한의몇몇제자들이정결예식문제에관하여한유대인과논쟁을벌이기시작했다. People were going to him, and he was baptizing them. (24)This was before John had been put in prison.) 25)Some of John s disciples began arguing with a Jew about the matter of ritual washing. 26) 선생님, 요단강동쪽에선생님과함께있었던그남자, 곧선생님이말씀하셨던그사람을기억하십니까? 글쎄그사람이지금세례를주고있는데모든사람들이그에게로가고있습니다! 27) 하나님이주시지않으면아무도그어떤것을가질수없다. 26)"Teacher, you remember the man who was with you on the east side of the Jordan, the one you spoke about? Well, he is baptizing now, and everyone is going to him!" 27)"No one can have anything unless God gives it.

18 28) 내가 나는메시아가아니요그분보다앞서보내심을받은사람이라 고말할때너희는직접적인나의증인들이다. 29) 신랑은신부가속해있는사람이지만곁에서서듣고있는신랑의친구는신랑의목소리를들을때기뻐한다. 이것이바로내자신의기쁨이온전하게이루어지는방식이다. 30) 그는더존귀해져야하며나는더낮아져야한다. 28)You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, I am not the Messiah, but I have been sent ahead of him. 29) The bridegroom is the one to whom the bride belongs; but the bridegroom s friend, who stands by and listens, is glad when he hears the bridegroom s voice. This is how my own happiness is made complete. 30)He must become more important while I become less important. 31)He who comes from above 31) 위로부터오신이는모든것보다더위대하시다. 땅으로부터온사람은땅에속하여땅의일에대해말하나하늘로부터온그사람은모든것위에계신분이다. 32) 그분은보고들어온것을말하지만아무도그의증언을받아들이지않는다. 33) 하지만그의증언을받아들이는사람은누구나하나님은참되시다는이사실을확증하느니라 is greater than all. He who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly matters, but he who comes from heaven is above all. 32)He tells what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his message. 33)But whoever accepts his message confirms by this that God is truthful.

19 34) 하나님이 보내신 그 사람은 하나님께서 그에게 성령을 한없이 주시기 때문에 하나님의 말씀을 하신다. 35) 아버지께서는 자신의 아들을 사랑하셔서모든것을그분의권세에 두셨다. 36) 누구든지 아들을 믿는 사람에겐 영생이 있고 ; 누구든지 아들에게 순종치 않는 사람은 생명이 없고 하나님의 징벌아래 남아 있게 될 것이다. 4 장 1) 예수께서요한보다더많은 제자를얻어세례를주고계신다는것을바리새인들이들었다. 2)( 사실예수님자신은아무에게도세례를주시지않으셨다 ; 오직그분의제자들이준것이었다.) 3) 그래서쑥덕거려지는것을예수님이들으시자그분은유대를떠나갈릴리로돌아가셨다. 4) 그곳으로가는도중에그분은사마리아를거쳐가셔야만했다. 5) 사마리아에서예수님은수가라하는마을에이르셨는데, 그곳은야곱이그의아들요셉에게주었던땅에서멀지않았다. 34)The one whom God has sent speaks God s words, because God gives him the fullness of his Spirit. 35)The Father loves his Son and has put everything in his power. 36) Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not have life, but will remain under God s punishment. 1) The Pharisees heard that Jesus was winning and baptizing more disciples than John. 2) (Actually, Jesus himself did not baptize anyone; only his disciples did.) 3) So when Jesus heard what was being said, he left Judea and went back to Galilee; 4) on his way there he had to go through Samaria. 5) In Samaria he came to a town named Sychar, which was not far from the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.

20 6) 야곱의우물이거기에있었고예수님은여행으로피곤하여우물가에앉으셨다. 때는정오쯤이었다. 7) 한사마리아여인이물을길으러왔다. " 내게마실물을주시오." 8) ( 그분의제자들은먹을것을사러동네에들어가고없었다.) 9) " 당신은유대사람이고난사마리아인인데어떻게내게마실것을달라고하십니까?" Then I will never be thirsty again, nor will I have to come here to draw water." 16) "Go and call your husband, and come back." 17)" I don t have a husband," "You are right when you say you don t have a husband. 18)You have been married to five men, and the man you live with now is not really your husband. You have told me the truth."

But none of them said to her, "What do you want?" or asked him, "Why are you talking with her?" 28) Then the woman left her water jar, went back to the town, 29) "Come and see the man who told me everything I have ever done. Could he be the Messiah?" 30) So they left the town; and went to Jesus. 31) In the meantime the disciples were begging Jesus, "Teacher, have something to eat!" 32) But he answered, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about."

24 33) 그러자제자들은자기들사이에서묻기시작했다, 누군가가그분께음식을갖다드렸을수가있을까? 34) 나의음식은나를보내신분의뜻을따르는것이며그분이내게하라고주신일을완수하는것이니라. 35) 넉달더있으면, 그때가추수라 는속담이너희에게있다. 그러나내가너희에게말하노니, 들판을한번잘보아라 ; 곡식들이이제익어추수될준비가되었구나! 33) So the disciples started asking among themselves, "Could somebody have brought him food?" 34) "My food is to obey the will of the one who sent me and to finish the work he gave me to do. 35) You have a saying, 'Four more months and then the harvest.' A government official was there whose son was sick in Capernaum. 47) When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to go to Capernaum and heal his son, who was about to die. 48)"None of you will ever believe unless you see miracles and wonders." 49) "Sir, come with me before my child dies." 50) "Go; your son will live!" The man believed Jesus' words and went. 51) On his way home his servants met him with the news, "Your boy is going to live!" 52) He asked them what time it was when his son got better. It was one o clock yesterday afternoon when the fever left him!

So he and all his family believed. 54) This was the second miracle that Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee. 1) After this, Jesus went to Jerusalem for a religious festival. 2) Near the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem, there is a pool with five porches. In Hebrew, it is called Bethzatha. 3) A large crowd of sick people were lying on the porches the blind, the lame, and the paralyzed. 5) A man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6) Jesus saw him lying there, and he knew that the man had been sick for such a long time; Do you want to get well? 7) Sir, I don t have anyone here to put me in the pool when the

The day this happened was a Sabbath, 10) so the Jewish authorities told the man who had been healed, This is a Sabbath, and it is against our Law for you to carry your mat. 11) The man who made me well told me to pick up my mat and walk. 12) Who is the man who told you to do this? 13) But the man who had been healed did not know who Jesus was, for there was a crowd in that place, and Jesus had slipped away. 14) Afterward, Jesus found him in the Temple. "You are well now; so

29 그렇지않으면더나쁜어떤일이너에게생길지도모른다. 15) 그러자그남자는떠나서자기를고쳐준게바로예수님이었다고유대권세가들에게말하였다. 16) 그래서그들은예수님을핍박하기시작하였다, 왜냐하면그분이이병고침을안식일에행하셨기때문이었다. 17) 예수님께서그들에게대답하셨다, 내아버지께서는항상일하고계신다, 그래서나또한일해야한다. 18) 이말씀은유대권세가들로하여금그분을죽이기로더욱더결심하게만들었다. 그분이안식일율법을어겼을뿐만아니라하나님이그분자신의아버지라고말했으며이런식으로자신을하나님과동등하게만드셨기때문이다. 19) 그래서예수님은그들에게대답하셨다, 내가너희에게진실을말하노니아들은스스로아무것도할수없다 ; 그는그의아버지께서행하시는것을본것만할뿐이다. 아버지께서하시는것은아들도또한하느니라. stop sinning or something worse may happen to you. 15) Then the man left and told the Jewish authorities that it was Jesus who had healed him. 16)So they began to persecute Jesus, because he had done this healing on a Sabbath. 17) Jesus answered them, My Father is always working, and I too must work. 18)This saying made the Jewish authorities all the more determined to kill him; not only had he broken the Sabbath law, but he had said that God was his own Father and in this way had made himself equal with God. 19) So Jesus answered them, I tell you the truth: the Son can do nothing on his own; he does only what he sees his Father doing. What the Father does, the Son also does.

He will show him even greater things to do than this, and you will all be amazed. 21)Just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, in the same way the Son gives life to those he wants to. 22)Nor does the Father himself judge anyone. He has given his Son the full right to judge, 23)so that all will honor the Son in the same way as they honor the Father. You have never heard his voice or seen his face,

And these very Scriptures speak about me! 40)Yet you are not willing to come to me in order to have life. 41) I am not looking for human praise. 42)But I know what kind of people you are, and I know that you have no love for God in your hearts. 43)I have come with my Father s authority, but you have not received me; when, however, someone comes with his own authority, you will receive him. 44)You like to receive praise from one another, but you do not try to win praise from the one who alone is God; how, then, can you believe me?

Moses, in whom you have put your hope, is the very one who will accuse you. 46)If you had really believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me. 47)But since you do not believe what he wrote, how can you believe what I say? 1)After this, Jesus went across Lake Galilee (or, Lake Tiberias, as it is also called). 2)A large crowd followed him, because they had seen his miracles of healing the sick. 3)Jesus went up a hill and sat down with his disciples. 4)The time for the Passover Festival was near. 5)Jesus looked around and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, Where can we buy enough food to feed all these people?

But they will certainly not be enough for all these people. 10) Make the people sit down, (There was a lot of grass there.) 36 남은조각들을모으라 ; 한조각도낭비하지않도록하자. 13) 그래서 그들이 그것들을 전부 모아서사람들이먹었던보리빵다섯 덩이에서 남은 조각들로 열두 광주리를채웠다. 14) 예수님께서행하신이기적을보고 거기에 있던 사람들은 분명히 이분이야 말로 세상에 오시기로 되어있던 그 선지자이시다! 라고 말했다. 15) 예수님은자신을강제로왕을 삼으려고 그들이 당장이라도 와서 자신을잡으려는것을아셨다. 그래서 그분은다시혼자산으로떠나가셨다. 16) 저녁이 되었을 때, 예수님의 제자들은호수로내려가서, to his disciples, "Gather the pieces left over; let us not waste a bit." 13)So they gathered them all and filled twelve baskets with the pieces left over from the five barley loaves which the people had eaten. 14)Seeing this miracle that Jesus had performed, the people there said, "Surely this is the Prophet who was to come into the world!" 15)Jesus knew that they were about to come and seize him in order to make him king by force; so he went off again to the hills by himself. 16)When evening came, Jesus disciples went down to the lake, 17)got into a boat, and went back 17) 배를타고, 가버나움을향해호수를되건너갔다. 밤이되었고, 예수님은아직그들에게오시지않았다. 18) 그러는사이한줄기강한바람이불어와물을휘젓고있었다. across the lake toward Capernaum. We know his father and mother. How, then, does he now say he came down from heaven? 43)"Stop grumbling among yourselves. 44)People cannot come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me; and I will raise them to life on the last day. 45)The prophets wrote, Everyone will be taught by God. Anyone who hears the Father and learns from him comes to me. 46)This does not mean that anyone has seen the Father; he who is from God is the only one who has seen the Father. 47)I am telling you the truth: he who believes has eternal life.

If you eat this bread, you will live forever. The bread that I will give you is my flesh, which I give so that the world may live." 52)This started an angry argument among them. How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53) I am telling you the truth: if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will not have life in yourselves. 54)Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them to life on the last day. 55)For my flesh is the real food; my blood is the real drink.

43 56) 내살을먹고내피를마시는자들은내안에살고, 나도그들안에사느니라. 56)Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood live in me, and I live in them. 57) 살아계신아버지께서나를보내셨고, 그분으로인해내가또한사느니라. 마찬가지로누구든지나를먹는사람은나로인해살게될것이다. 57)The living Father sent me, and because of him I live also. In the same way whoever eats me will live because of me. 58) 그러면이것은하늘에서내려온빵이다. 그것은너희조상들이먹었던빵과같지않다. 그들은나중에죽었으나이빵을먹는자들은영원히살것이다. 58)This, then, is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the bread that your ancestors ate, They later died, but those who eat this bread will live forever. 59) 가버나움회당에서가르치시며예수님은이말씀을하셨다. 60) 그분의추종자들중많은수가이것을듣고 이가르침은너무나어렵다. 누가그것을들을수있겠는가? 라고말하였다. 61) 듣지않으시고도, 예수님은그들이이것에대해불평하고있는것을알고계셨다. 이것이너희로하여금포기하고싶도록만드느냐? 59)Jesus said this as he taught in the synagogue in Capernaum. 60)Many of his followers heard this and said, "This teaching is too hard. Who can listen to it?" 61)Without being told, Jesus knew that they were grumbling about this. Does this make you want to give up?

44 62) 그렇다면인자가이전에그가 있었던곳으로다시올라가는것을 너희가본다고가정해보아라. 63) 생명을 주는 것은 하나님의 영이다 ; 인간의힘은전혀쓸모가없느니라. 내가 너희에게 한 말들은 생명을 주시는하나님의영을모셔오게한다. 64) 그러나너희중몇은믿지않고 있다. ( 예수님은 믿지 않을 자들이 누구이며어느사람이자기를배반할 것인지맨처음부터알고계셨다.) 65) 이것이 아버지께서 그들이 그렇게 하는 것을 가능케 하지 않으시면아무도내게올수없다고 내가 너희에게 말했던 바로 그 이유다. 66) 이로인해, 예수님의추종자들중 많은수가되돌아갔고더이상그분과 함께다니려하지않았다. 67)" 그리고 너 -너희도 떠나고 싶으냐?" 68) 주님, 우리가 누구에게로 가겠습니까? 당신께는 영생을 주는 말씀이있습니다. 62)Suppose, then, that you should see the Son of Man go back up to the place where he was before? 63)What gives life is God s Spirit; human power is of no use at all. The words I have spoken to you bring God s life-giving Spirit. 64)Yet some of you do not believe." (Jesus knew from the very beginning who were the ones that would not believe and which one would betray him.) 65) "This is the very reason I told you that no people can come to me unless the Father makes it possible for them to do so." 66)Because of this, many of Jesus followers turned back and would not go with him anymore. 67) And you would you also like to leave? 68)"Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.

Yet one of you is a devil! 71)He was talking about Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. 46 not one thing in all creation 모든피조물중어느것하나도 was made without him. 그분없이지어진것이없었다. 4) The Word was the source of life, 그말씀은생명의근원이었으며 and this life brought light / to people. 이생명은빛을가져다주었다 / 사람들에게 5) The light shines / in the darkness, 그빛은비추고있으며 / 어두움속에 and the darkness has never put it out. 그어두움은결코그것을끄지못했다. 6) God sent his messenger, 하나님은그의사자를보내셨다, a man named John, 요한이라는사람을 7)who came to tell people / about the light, 그는사람들에게말해주러왔는데 / 그빛에관해 so that all should hear the message 모든사람들이그메시지를듣고 and believe. 믿게하려는것이었다. 8) He himself was not the light; 그자신은빛이아니었다

50 20) John did not refuse to answer, 요한은답변하기를거절하지않고 but spoke out openly and clearly. 숨김없고분명하게말했다. "I am not the Messiah." 나는메시아가아니다. 21) Who are you then? 그러면너는누구냐? Are you Elijah? 엘리야냐? No, I'm not. 아니다. Are you the Prophet? 예언자이냐? No. 아니다. 22) Then tell us / who you are. 그러면우리에게말하라 / 네가누구인지. 51 "I am the voice of someone / shouting in the desert: 나는누군가의소리이다 / 광야에서외치는 : Make a straight path / for the Lord to travel!'" 길을곧게만들어라 / 주님이다니시도록! 24) The messengers, / who had been sent / by the Pharisees, 사자들이 / 보내졌던 / 바리새인들에의해 25) then asked John: 그때요한에게물었다 : "If you are not the Messiah, / nor Elijah / nor the Prophet, 약네가메시아도아니고 / 엘리야도아니며 / 그예언자도아니라면 why do you baptize?" 어째서너는세례를주느냐? 26) I baptize with water. 나는물로세례를준다. 53 but God, who sent me to baptize / with water, / had said to me, 그러나나를보내서세례를주라고하신하나님께서 / 물로 / 내게말씀하셨다 You will see / the Spirit come down / and stay on a man; 너는보게될것이다 / 성령이내려와서 / 한남자위에머무르는것을 he is the one / who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' 그가바로그사람이다 / 성령으로세례를주는 34) I have seen it, / and I tell you / that he is the Son of God." 나는그것을보았다, / 그래서나는너희에게말한다 / 그분이하나님의아들이심을 35) The next day / John was standing / there again 다음날 / 요한은서있었다 / 다시그곳에 with two of his disciples, 그의제자두사람과함께 36) when he saw / Jesus walking by. 그가보았을때 / 예수님께서지나가시는것을 "There is the Lamb of God!" " 저기하나님의어린양이계신다!" 37) The two disciples heard him say this 그제자두사람은그가이렇게말하는것을들었다 and went with Jesus. 그리고예수님과함께갔다. 38) Jesus turned, / saw them following him. 예수님께서몸을돌려, / 그들이자기를따라오는것을보셨다.
