The only Son, who is the same as God and is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

Who are you? 20) 요한은답변하기를거절하지않고숨김없이분명하게말했다. 나는메시아가아니다. 20) John did not refuse to answer, but spoke out openly and clearly. "I am not the Messiah." 21) 그러면너는누구냐? 엘리야냐? 아니다. 예언자이냐? 아니다. 21) Who are you then? Are you Elijah? No, I'm not. Are you the Prophet? " 저기세상죄를지고가는하나님의어린양이시다! 29) The next day John saw Jesus coming to him. "There is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" 30) 이분이바로내가 한사람이내뒤에오시나그가나보다더위대하다, 왜냐하면그분은내가태어나기전에존재하셨기때문이다 라고할때말했던그분이다. 30) This is the one I was talking about when I said, A man is coming after me, but he is greater than I am, because he existed before I was born.

31) 나는그분이누구일지알지못했다. 하지만나는그분을이스라엘백성들에게알려지도록와서물로세례를주었다. 31) I did not know who he would be, but I came baptizing with water in order to make him known to the people of Israel. 32) 그리고요한이이증언을하였다 : " 나는성령이비둘기처럼하늘로부터내려와서그분위에머무는것을보았다. 32) And John gave this testimony: I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from heaven and stay on him. 33) 나는여전히그가그분인줄을알지못하였다. 하지만물로세례를주도록나를보내신하나님께서내게말씀하시기를, ' 너는성령이내려와한남자위에머무르는것을보게될것이다 ; 그가성령으로세례를주는그사람이다.' 33) I still did not know that he was the one, but God, who sent me to baptize with water, had said to me, You will see the Spirit come down and stay on a man; he is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. 34) 내가그것을보았고, 나는그분이하나님의아들이심을너희에게말한다. 34) I have seen it, and I tell you that he is the Son of God." 35) 그다음날요한은그의제자두사람과함께다시그자리에서있었다. 35) The next day John was standing there again with two of his disciples, 36) 그때그는예수님께서지나가시는것을보았다. " 저기하나님의어린양이계신다." 36) when he saw Jesus walking by. There is the Lamb of God!

37) 그제자두사람은그가이렇게말하는것을듣고예수님과함께갔다. 37) The two disciples heard him say this and went with Jesus. 38) 예수님께서몸을돌려, 그들이자기를따라오는것을보셨다. 무엇을찾느냐? 사시는곳이어디입니까, 랍비님? ( 이말은 " 선생 이라는의미이다 ) 38) Jesus turned, saw them following him. What are you looking for? Where do you live, Rabbi? (This word means Teacher. ) 39) 와서보아라. 그때는오후 4시쯤이었다. 그래서그들은그분과함께갔고그분이사시는곳을보았으며그날의나머지를그분과함께보냈다. 39) Come and see." (It was then about four o clock in the afternoon.) So they went with him and saw where he lived, and spent the rest of that day with him 40) 그들중한명은시몬베드로의형제안드레였다. 40) One of them was Andrew, Simon Peter s brother. 41) 즉시그는그의형제시몬을찾았다. 우리가메시아를찾았어. "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher sent by God. People were going to him, and he was baptizing them. He who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly matters, but he who comes from heaven is above all. 32)He tells what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his message. 33)But whoever accepts his message confirms by this that God is truthful.

19) 선생님, 내가보니당신은선지자이십니다. 20) 나의사마리아조상들은이산위에서예배를드렸습니다. 하지만당신네유대사람들은예루살렘이우리가하나님께예배드려야할장소라고말합니다. 19) "I see you are a prophet, sir," 20)My Samaritan ancestors worshiped God on this mountain, but you Jews say that Jerusalem is the place where we should worship God." 21) 나를믿으라, 여자여, 사람들이 이 산 위에서도 예루살렘에서도 아버지께 예배하지 않을 때가 올 것이다. 22) 너희 사마리아인들은 너희가 누구를 경배하는지 진실로 알지 못한다 ; 그러나 우리 유대인들은 우리가누구를경배하는지알고있다, 왜냐하면 구원이 나는 것은 유대인들로부터이기때문이다. 23) 그러나그때가오고이미여기에 와 있나니, 그때엔 하나님의 영의 능력으로사람들이아버지를그분이 실재하심 대로 경배하며, 그분에게 그분이원하시는진정한경배를바칠 것이다. 24) 하나님은영이시니그분의영의 능력에의해서만사람들은그분을그 분이 실재하심대로 경배할 수 있느니라. 21) "Believe me, woman, the time will come when people will not worship the Father either on this mountain or in Jerusalem. 22) You Samaritans do not really know whom you worship; but we Jews know whom we worship, because it is from the Jews that salvation comes. 23) But the time is coming and is already here, when by the power of God s Spirit people will worship the Father as he really is, offering him the true worship that he wants. 24) God is Spirit, and only by the power of his Spirit can people worship him as he really is.

But none of them said to her, "What do you want?" or asked him, "Why are you talking with her?" 28) Then the woman left her water jar, went back to the town, 29) "Come and see the man who told me everything I have ever done. Could he be the Messiah?" 30) So they left the town; and went to Jesus. 31) In the meantime the disciples were begging Jesus, "Teacher, have something to eat!" 32) But he answered, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about."

A government official was there whose son was sick in Capernaum. 47) When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to go to Capernaum and heal his son, who was about to die. 48)"None of you will ever believe unless you see miracles and wonders." 49) "Sir, come with me before my child dies." 50) "Go; your son will live!" The man believed Jesus' words and went. 51) On his way home his servants met him with the news, "Your boy is going to live!" 52) He asked them what time it was when his son got better. It was one o clock yesterday afternoon when the fever left him!

So he and all his family believed. 54) This was the second miracle that Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee. 1) After this, Jesus went to Jerusalem for a religious festival. 2) Near the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem, there is a pool with five porches. In Hebrew, it is called Bethzatha. 3) A large crowd of sick people were lying on the porches the blind, the lame, and the paralyzed. 5) A man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6) Jesus saw him lying there, and he knew that the man had been sick for such a long time; Do you want to get well? 7) Sir, I don t have anyone here to put me in the pool when the

그렇지않으면더나쁜어떤일이너에게생길지도모른다. 15) 그러자그남자는떠나서자기를고쳐준게바로예수님이었다고유대권세가들에게말하였다. 16) 그래서그들은예수님을핍박하기시작하였다, 왜냐하면그분이이병고침을안식일에행하셨기때문이었다. 17) 예수님께서그들에게대답하셨다, 내아버지께서는항상일하고계신다, 그래서나또한일해야한다. 18) 이말씀은유대권세가들로하여금그분을죽이기로더욱더결심하게만들었다. 그분이안식일율법을어겼을뿐만아니라하나님이그분자신의아버지라고말했으며이런식으로자신을하나님과동등하게만드셨기때문이다. 19) 그래서예수님은그들에게대답하셨다, 내가너희에게진실을말하노니아들은스스로아무것도할수없다 ; 그는그의아버지께서행하시는것을본것만할뿐이다. 아버지께서하시는것은아들도또한하느니라. stop sinning or something worse may happen to you. 15) Then the man left and told the Jewish authorities that it was Jesus who had healed him. 16)So they began to persecute Jesus, because he had done this healing on a Sabbath. 17) Jesus answered them, My Father is always working, and I too must work. 18)This saying made the Jewish authorities all the more determined to kill him; not only had he broken the Sabbath law, but he had said that God was his own Father and in this way had made himself equal with God. 19) So Jesus answered them, I tell you the truth: the Son can do nothing on his own; he does only what he sees his Father doing. What the Father does, the Son also does.

You have never heard his voice or seen his face,

But they will certainly not be enough for all these people. 10) Make the people sit down, (There was a lot of grass there.) So all the people sat down; there were about five thousand men. 11)Jesus took the bread, gave thanks to God, and distributed it to the people who were sitting there. 11)He did the same with the fish, and they all had as much as they wanted. 12) 그들이모두배불렀을때, 그분은자기제자들에게말씀하셨다, 12)When they were all full, he said

남은조각들을모으라 ; 한조각도낭비하지않도록하자. 13) 그래서 그들이 그것들을 전부 모아서사람들이먹었던보리빵다섯 덩이에서 남은 조각들로 열두 광주리를채웠다. 14) 예수님께서행하신이기적을보고 거기에 있던 사람들은 분명히 이분이야 말로 세상에 오시기로 되어있던 그 선지자이시다! 라고 말했다. 15) 예수님은자신을강제로왕을 삼으려고 그들이 당장이라도 와서 자신을잡으려는것을아셨다. 그래서 그분은다시혼자산으로떠나가셨다. 16) 저녁이 되었을 때, 예수님의 제자들은호수로내려가서, to his disciples, "Gather the pieces left over; let us not waste a bit." 13)So they gathered them all and filled twelve baskets with the pieces left over from the five barley loaves which the people had eaten. 14)Seeing this miracle that Jesus had performed, the people there said, "Surely this is the Prophet who was to come into the world!" 15)Jesus knew that they were about to come and seize him in order to make him king by force; so he went off again to the hills by himself. 16)When evening came, Jesus disciples went down to the lake, 17)got into a boat, and went back 17) 배를타고, 가버나움을향해호수를되건너갔다. 밤이되었고, 예수님은아직그들에게오시지않았다. 18) 그러는사이한줄기강한바람이불어와물을휘젓고있었다. across the lake toward Capernaum. We know his father and mother. How, then, does he now say he came down from heaven? 43)"Stop grumbling among yourselves. 44)People cannot come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me; and I will raise them to life on the last day. 45)The prophets wrote, Everyone will be taught by God. Anyone who hears the Father and learns from him comes to me. 46)This does not mean that anyone has seen the Father; he who is from God is the only one who has seen the Father. 47)I am telling you the truth: he who believes has eternal life.

If you eat this bread, you will live forever. The bread that I will give you is my flesh, which I give so that the world may live." 52)This started an angry argument among them. How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53) I am telling you the truth: if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will not have life in yourselves. 54)Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them to life on the last day. 55)For my flesh is the real food; my blood is the real drink.

In the same way whoever eats me will live because of me. 58) 그러면이것은하늘에서내려온빵이다. 그것은너희조상들이먹었던빵과같지않다. 그들은나중에죽었으나이빵을먹는자들은영원히살것이다. 58)This, then, is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the bread that your ancestors ate, They later died, but those who eat this bread will live forever. 59) 가버나움회당에서가르치시며예수님은이말씀을하셨다. 60) 그분의추종자들중많은수가이것을듣고 이가르침은너무나어렵다. 누가그것을들을수있겠는가? 라고말하였다. 61) 듣지않으시고도, 예수님은그들이이것에대해불평하고있는것을알고계셨다. 이것이너희로하여금포기하고싶도록만드느냐? 59)Jesus said this as he taught in the synagogue in Capernaum. 60)Many of his followers heard this and said, "This teaching is too hard. Who can listen to it?" 61)Without being told, Jesus knew that they were grumbling about this. Does this make you want to give up?

62) 그렇다면인자가이전에그가 있었던곳으로다시올라가는것을 너희가본다고가정해보아라. 63) 생명을 주는 것은 하나님의 영이다 ; 인간의힘은전혀쓸모가없느니라. 내가 너희에게 한 말들은 생명을 주시는하나님의영을모셔오게한다. 64) 그러나너희중몇은믿지않고 있다. ( 예수님은 믿지 않을 자들이 누구이며어느사람이자기를배반할 것인지맨처음부터알고계셨다.) 65) 이것이 아버지께서 그들이 그렇게 하는 것을 가능케 하지 않으시면아무도내게올수없다고 내가 너희에게 말했던 바로 그 이유다. 66) 이로인해, 예수님의추종자들중 많은수가되돌아갔고더이상그분과 함께다니려하지않았다. 67)" 그리고 너 -너희도 떠나고 싶으냐?" 68) 주님, 우리가 누구에게로 가겠습니까? 당신께는 영생을 주는 말씀이있습니다. 62)Suppose, then, that you should see the Son of Man go back up to the place where he was before? 63)What gives life is God s Spirit; human power is of no use at all. The words I have spoken to you bring God s life-giving Spirit. 64)Yet some of you do not believe." (Jesus knew from the very beginning who were the ones that would not believe and which one would betray him.) 65) "This is the very reason I told you that no people can come to me unless the Father makes it possible for them to do so." 66)Because of this, many of Jesus followers turned back and would not go with him anymore. 67) And you would you also like to leave? 68)"Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.

Yet one of you is a devil! 71)He was talking about Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. not one thing in all creation 모든피조물중어느것하나도 was made without him. 그분없이지어진것이없었다. 4) The Word was the source of life, 그말씀은생명의근원이었으며 and this life brought light / to people. 이생명은빛을가져다주었다 / 사람들에게 5) The light shines / in the darkness, 그빛은비추고있으며 / 어두움속에 and the darkness has never put it out. 그어두움은결코그것을끄지못했다. 6) God sent his messenger, 하나님은그의사자를보내셨다, a man named John, 요한이라는사람을 7)who came to tell people / about the light, 그는사람들에게말해주러왔는데 / 그빛에관해 so that all should hear the message 모든사람들이그메시지를듣고 and believe. 믿게하려는것이었다. 8) He himself was not the light; 그자신은빛이아니었다

he came to tell about the light. 그는빛에대하여말하러왔다 9) This was the real light 이사람이참빛이니 -- the light that comes into the world / and shines on all people 곧세상에와서 / 모든사람들에게비추는빛이라 10) The Word was in the world, 그말씀이세상에계셨고 and though God made the world / through him, 하나님이세상을만드셨음에도불구하고 / 그분을통해 yet the world did not recognize him. 세상은그분을알지못했다 11) He came to his own country, 그분이자기자신의나라에오셨지만 but his own people did not receive him. 그분자신의백성들은그분을영접하지않았다 12) Some, however, did receive him / and believed in him; 하지만몇몇은그분을영접했고 / 그분을믿었다 ; so he gave them the right / to become God s children. 그래서그분은그들에게권리를주셨다 / 하나님의자녀가되는 13) They did not become God s children / by natural means, 그들은하나님의자녀가된것이아니었다 / 자연적인수단에의해 that is, by being born / as the children of a human father; 즉태어남으로 / 인간아버지의자녀로

God himself was their Father. 하나님자신이그들의아버지셨다 14) The Word became a human being 그말씀은인간이되셔서 and, full of grace and truth, / lived among us. 은혜와진리가충만하여 / 우리가운데거하셨다 We saw his glory, 우리는그분의영광을보았다, the glory which he received / as the Father s only Son. 그분이받은영광을 / 아버지의독생자로서 15) John spoke about him 요한은그분에대하여말했다 "This is the one 이분이그분이다 I was talking about / when I said 내가말하였던 / ~ 라고말할때 He comes after me 그분은내뒤에오신다 but he is greater / than I am 그러나그분은더위대하시다 / 나보다 because he existed 왜냐하면존재하셨기때문이다 before I was born." 내가태어나기전에

16) Out of the fullness of his grace 그분의은혜의충만함으로부터 he has blessed us all 그분은우리모두를축복하셔서 giving us one blessing after another 우리에게축복뒤에또축복을주셨다 17) God gave the Law / through Moses, 하나님은율법을주셨다 / 모세를통해 but grace and truth came / through Jesus Christ 하지만은혜와진리는왔다 / 예수그리스도를통해 18) No one has ever seen God 이제까지하나님을본사람은아무도없다 The only Son, / who is the same as God 독생자, / 하나님과동등하신 and is at the Father's side, 아버지곁에계시는 he has made him known 그분이하나님을알려주셨다 19) The Jewish authorities / in Jerusalem 유대권세가들이 / 예루살렘에있는 sent some priests and Levites / to John 제사장들과레위인몇명을보냈다 / 요한에게 Who are you? 너는누구냐?

20) John did not refuse to answer, 요한은답변하기를거절하지않고 but spoke out openly and clearly. 숨김없고분명하게말했다. "I am not the Messiah." 나는메시아가아니다. 21) Who are you then? 그러면너는누구냐? Are you Elijah? 엘리야냐? No, I'm not. 아니다. Are you the Prophet? 예언자이냐? No. 아니다. 22) Then tell us / who you are. 그러면우리에게말하라 / 네가누구인지. We have to take an answer back / to those who sent us. 우리는답변을받아가야한다 / 우리를보낸사람들에게 What do you say about yourself? 너는너자신에대해무엇이라고하느냐? 23) John answered / by quoting the prophet, Isaiah: 요한은대답했다 / 예언자이사야의말씀을인용하여

"I am the voice of someone / shouting in the desert: 나는누군가의소리이다 / 광야에서외치는 : Make a straight path / for the Lord to travel!'" 길을곧게만들어라 / 주님이다니시도록! 24) The messengers, / who had been sent / by the Pharisees, 사자들이 / 보내졌던 / 바리새인들에의해 25) then asked John: 그때요한에게물었다 : "If you are not the Messiah, / nor Elijah / nor the Prophet, 약네가메시아도아니고 / 엘리야도아니며 / 그예언자도아니라면 why do you baptize?" 어째서너는세례를주느냐? 26) I baptize with water. 나는물로세례를준다. But among you / stands the one / you do not know. 하지만너희가운데 / 한분이서계신다 / 너희들이알지못하는 27) He is coming after me, / but I am not good enough 그분은내뒤에오시지만 / 나는충분한자격이없다 even to untie his sandals. 심지어그분의신발끈을풀어드릴 28) All this happened / in Bethany / on the east side of the Jordan River, 이모든일은일어났다 / 베다니에서 / 요단강동쪽편에있는 where John was baptizing. 요한이세례를주던곳인

29) The next day / John saw Jesus coming to him. 다음날 / 요한은예수님이자기에게오시는것을보았다. "There is the Lamb of God / who takes away the sin of the world!" 저기하나님의어린양이계시다 / 세상죄를지고가는 30) This is the one / I was talking about / when I said, 이분이바로그분이다 / 내가말했던 / ~ 라고할때, A man is coming after me, / but he is greater than I am, 한사람이내뒤에오신다 / 하지만그분은나보다더위대하시다 because he existed before / I was born. 왜냐하면그분은존재하셨기때문이다 / 내가태어나기전에 31) I did not know / who he would be, 나는알지못했다 / 그분이누구일지 but I came baptizing / with water 하지만나는와서세례를주었다 / 물로 in order to make him known / to the people of Israel. 그분이알려지도록하기위해 / 이스라엘백성들에게 32) And John gave this testimony: 그리고요한이이증언을하였다. I saw / the Spirit come down / like a dove / from heaven 나는보았다 / 성령이내려오시는것을 / 비둘기처럼 / 하늘로부터 and stay on him. 그리고그분위에머무시는것을 33) I still did not know / that he was the one, 나는여전히알지못했다 / 그가그분인줄

but God, who sent me to baptize / with water, / had said to me, 그러나나를보내서세례를주라고하신하나님께서 / 물로 / 내게말씀하셨다 You will see / the Spirit come down / and stay on a man; 너는보게될것이다 / 성령이내려와서 / 한남자위에머무르는것을 he is the one / who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' 그가바로그사람이다 / 성령으로세례를주는 34) I have seen it, / and I tell you / that he is the Son of God." 나는그것을보았다, / 그래서나는너희에게말한다 / 그분이하나님의아들이심을 35) The next day / John was standing / there again 다음날 / 요한은서있었다 / 다시그곳에 with two of his disciples, 그의제자두사람과함께 36) when he saw / Jesus walking by. 그가보았을때 / 예수님께서지나가시는것을 "There is the Lamb of God!" " 저기하나님의어린양이계신다!" 37) The two disciples heard him say this 그제자두사람은그가이렇게말하는것을들었다 and went with Jesus. 그리고예수님과함께갔다. 38) Jesus turned, / saw them following him. 예수님께서몸을돌려, / 그들이자기를따라오는것을보셨다. "What are you looking for?" " 무엇을찾느냐?"
