Turn Crisis into an Opportunity Many experts say that current economic crisis we are facing has greater impact than the Great Depression of 1929. It seems that the difficulties will continue for some time. Thus we should strive to make the extra efforts to turn this crisis into opportunity for further development. Main items of DRB such as Power Transmission Belts and Conveyor Belts have been performed relatively well in the market. Emerging business of construction materials is growing soundly with the increasing investments in structures. Newly developed items such as Seismic Isolation, Vibration Control System and Laser Cutting Machines are being well received by their customers. Our global sales networks are also producing good results. Our teams in America, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and China have met our commitments. I strongly encourage your contribution to our global growth. DRB Slovakia has been an exemplary plant which has made outstanding results since the early stage of manufacturing. Though Europe automotive market has been slowing down with our customers 'KIA & HYUNDAI Motor', we hope to see improved results sooner. DRB Vietnam is just taking off with the help from every member of DRB. We wish to settle down all the business as soon as possible. DRB Qingdao plant has been trying hard to strive for better results, and it should focus on solving chronic problems from the past. MS Office 2007 Deployment DRB won the prize at the 45th trade day MS Office 2007 has been deployed in DRB as of last Dec 1st. Company expects improved work efficiency through office program upgrade. In Dec 2nd, DRB was granted the Award of Recognition from Ministry of Intellectual Economy in the 45th National Trade Day hosted by the Korean International Trade Association (KITA). DRB was recommended for its contribution to the economic growth of Korea and was awarded for merit in continued long term export section. The 18th DRB Forum Held 2008 End of Year Ceremony Held The 18th DRB Forum was held at headquarters auditorium on Dec 19. All employees shared the management results during last two months and set their goals in preparing for the future by acknowledging situations in overseas, which is changing rapidly. 2008 End of Year Ceremony was held at the headquarters cafeteria on Dec 31. The staff awards were presented at the ceremony to recognize outstanding contributions in suggestion, achieving zero accident and 5S. The Managing Director Kim Hee Taek congratulated their awarding and encouraged all employees that we can overcome the crisis and become the world s leading company by change and steadfastness. 2009 New Year Ceremony Held Best Practice Competition of Improvement Activities 2009 New Year s opening ceremony was held at the headquarters cafeteria on Jan 5. The Managing Director Kim Hee Taek emphasized the need to turn crisis into opportunity with our utmost efforts. in his New Year s address speech. Yangsan plant had its own New Year s opening ceremony on Jan 6. On Jan 12th and 19th, Best Practice Competition of Improvement Activities for the second half of 2008 was held. 14 teams attended the finals and gave presentations of their activities including immediate improvement and 5S. The winner is Change in the Raw-Edge Belts manufacturing division. Agreement between the Busan fire department and DRB Fatec 2009 Annual Work Conference The Busan Fire Department and DRB Fatec signed the agreement to help each other on Feb 9. The major goal of this agreement was to strengthen the cooperation between both parties in order to develop and offer high tech fire equipment against fire for saving the people s lives and minimizing loss of property. DRB held The Annual Work Conference in 2009 at the auditorium on Feb 12. All employees attended and reviewed the 2008 work of each team and shared business plans to improve competitiveness in 2009. Signing Ceremony of 2009 Wage & CBA negotiation 2009 Blood Drive Held The signing ceremony on 2009 wage & CBA negotiation was held on February 20 with participation of the Managing Director Kim Hee Taek, Chairman of Labor Union Kwan Wook Chun. Starting with opening remarks of both parties, the ceremony went on to signing and exchanging agreement and taking photograph. The Director Kim Hee Taek expressed his gratitude to both parties sincere effort for negotiation. He added that Even if we are expected to have many challenges this year, we need to stay focused on our goal and work together as one team. On Feb 25, DRB held a blood drive by using mobile blood drive vehicle. 29 participants from headquarters donated their blood.
