1 ISSN (Print) / ISSN (Online) The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers Vol. 64, No. 4, pp. 573~577, 반능동형레이저유도추적에적합한레이저펄스반복주파수검출을위한디지털신호처리보드구현및표적좌표최적화 Implementation of Digital Signal Processing Board Suitable for a Semi-active Laser Tracking to Detect a Laser Pulse Repetition Frequency and Optimization of a Target Coordinates 이영주 * 김용평 (Young-Ju Lee Yong-Pyung Kim) Abstract - In this paper, we propose a signal processing board suitable for a semi-active laser tracking to detect an optical signal generated from the laser target designator by applying an analog trigger signal, the quadrant photodetector and a high speed ADC(analog-digital converter) sampling technique. We improved the stability by applying the averaging method to minimize the measurement error of a gaussian pulse. To evaluate the performances of the proposed methods, we implemented a prototype board and performed experiments. As a result, we implemented a frequency counter with an error 14.9ns in 50ms. PRF error code has a stability of less than 1.5% compared to the NATO standard. Applying the three point averaging method to ADC sampling, the stability of 28% in X-axis and 22% in Y-axis than one point sampling was improved. Key Words : laser target designator, threshold trigger, high speed ADC, SAL, ZYNQ 1. 서론레이저광은방향성이매우좋기때문에레이저거리측정기로민수및군사용으로많이사용되고있다. 특히군사용으로많이사용하는분야로는 1.06μm 레이저로유도되는정밀유도탄과정밀타격을위한레이저조사기이다 [1]. 레이저유도탄운용방식으로는표적을지시한레이저광을따라서비행하도록유도시키는방식인레이저빔라이더 (laser beam rider) 와지상군의표적지시기에의해반사되는반점을이용하여유도되는반능동형레이저유도방식 (semi-active laser guidance, SAL) 으로구분된다 [2]. 반능동형레이저유도방식에서는레이저펄스반복주파수 (laser pulse repetition frequency, PRF) 를발생하여해당펄스만을추적하는방식이다 [3]. 레이저광이목표물에조사되면전자광학센서를포함한발사체는레이저조사기에발생된주파수를추적하게된다. 레이저표적지시기는중심파장 1.06μm의적외선 Nd:YAG 레이저를사용하여특수장비없이는관찰이불가하다. 또한 Nd:YAG 매질의광전변환효율이좋으며고출력레이저구현이보편화되어 많이사용하고있다. 대부분의장거리표적지시기는 Nd:YAG 레이저를사용하여 20ns의레이저펄스반치폭 (full width at half maximum, FWHM) 을갖는구조로설계되어있으며펄스반복율은 10 20Hz를사용하고있다. 최근수신감도를높이기위해서레이저조사기의펄스폭을줄여첨두치파워를높이는방법으로 15ns의펄스폭을갖는표적지시기가개발되고있다 [4]. 그림 1은반능동형레이저유도탄운용방식을보여준다. 반능동형레이저유도탄체계는 4분할광검출기를이용한다. 레이저표적지시기에서조사된레이저는표적을맞고 SAL 체계광검출기에입사되어신호의위치를추적한다. 짧은광펄스를측정하는방법으로첨두치검출 (peak detection) 회로기술을적용하여사용하고있다 [5]. 첨두치검출 Corresponding Author : Dept. of Electronics and Radio Engineering, Kyung Hee University, Korea. ypkim@khu.ac.kr * Dept. of Electronics and Radio Engineering, Kyung Hee University, Korea and R&D Center, Allimsystem Co.,Ltd., Korea. 2 전기학회논문지 64 권 4 호 2015 년 4 월 방법은증폭기와다이오드를이용하여정류한후커패시터에저장하는방식이다. 그러나낮은신호검출시잡음성분에대한검출오류가발생가능하며검출시점에따라커패시터의충 / 방전시퀀스제어가요구되는단점을갖고있다 [6]. 본논문에서는레이저표적지시기에서발생된신호를검출하기위해서아날로그트리거방식과 4분할광검출기및고속아날로그-디지털변환기 (analog-digital converter, ADC) 샘플링기술을적용하여반능동형레이저추적에적합한신호처리보드를구현하였으며가우시안펄스의측정오차를최소화할수있는평균화방법을이용하여안정도를개선하였다. 또한 PRF 코드수신정밀도를향상하기위하여카운터로직을설계및평가하였다. 확률밀도함수와가우시안함수의관계에서표준편차 (σ) 와펄스폭 (FWHM) 의관계는식 1과같다 [7]. ln (1) 레이저표적지시기에서사용되는레이저가펄스폭 15ns의가우시안함수를갖는다면표준편차 99.7% 인 ±3σ 경우약 38ns의가우시안파형을갖는다. 100MSPS의 ADC를사용할경우 10ns 단위로데이터를샘플링이가능하다. 샘플링시작시점에따른검출펄스파형은그림 3과같다. 2. 본론 시스템구성은광신호증폭부, 비교기및트리거신호발생부, 데이터취득부, 데이터처리부로구성된다. 광신호증폭부는 4분할광검출기및증폭기를이용하여일정배율로증폭하게된다. 비교기및트리거발생부는전치증폭기에발생된미소신호를설정기준값보다클경우디지털로직이인식가능한레벨로변환발생한다. 데이터취득부는고속시리얼통신구조이며 100MSPS(mega sample per second) 샘플율을갖는아날로그디지털변환기 ( analog digital converter, ADC ) 를포함한다. FPGA( field programmable gate array ) 를포함한신호처리부는프로세서시스템 (processing system, PS) 및프로그래머블로직 (programmable logic, PL) 을내장한 Xilinx 사의 ZYNQ SoC를적용하였으며 PRF 코드분석은 PL 로직에구현하였다. 그림 2와같이 PS, AXI(advanced extensible interface) 버스인터페이스, AXI 사용자로직부와연동하여제어하였다. 그림 3 가우시안펄스의샘플링포인트 Fig. 3 Sampling point of gaussian pulse 그림 3에서 (-center) 곡선은반치폭이 15ns 일때 100MSPS의샘플링주기인 10ns 단위로표시된가우시안분포를보여준다. 1-포인트샘플링으로발생할수있는오차는중심점과최대오차발생지점의차이를계산하여얻을수있다. 정상적인가우시안중심값은 이며최대오차발생지점 +/- 5ns에서값은 이다. 두점간최대 26.5% 의오차를나타낼수있다. 중심점에서검출된가우시안분포최대점및전후데이터의평균은 ( ) / 3 = 이며 5ns 이동한가우시안분포의샘플링평균은 ( )/3 = 이다. 비율로는 3.22% 의오차로 1-포인트샘플링으로검출되는오차보다약 22% 이상의안정도를갖을수있다. 2.1 광신호증폭및트리거신호발생 그림 2 시스템블록다이어그램 Fig. 2 System Block Diagram 레이저표적지시기에서발생되는 15 20ns 의펄스폭을측정하는방법으로 100MSPS 샘플율을갖는 ADC와아날로그트리거신호를이용하여좀더안정적인데이터추출이가능한구조를설계하였다. 빠른응답을요구하는 Si PIN형포토다이오드의정전용량은 2pF 이내이다 [8]. 상대적으로 4분할광검출기는검출면적이넓기때문에 20pF 이내의정전용량을갖고있다 [9]. 높은정전용량때문에광전변환소자의주파수대역폭이제한되며입력광신호의펄스폭이 2 3배늘어진다. 15ns 펄스폭을갖는광신호를검출하기위해서주파수대역폭은 20MHz로제한하여설계하였다. 그림 4는광신호증폭기와비교기를이용한신호검출부이다. 트랜스임피던스증폭기 (trans-impedance amplifier, TIA) 의이득은 65dB(V/A) 로설계하였고후치증폭기 (post amplifier, PA) 의이득은약 23dB로설계하였다. 비교기 (comparator, CP) 는광전변환레벨과기준전압 (reference voltage) 의차이를이용하 574

3 Trans. KIEE. Vol. 64, No. 4, APR, 2015 여신호입력여부를판단한다. 기준전압은디지털-아날로그변환소자를이용하여 0 3V 범위에서 4096 단계로발생이가능하다. 기준전압을가변함으로오경보율 (false alarm rate, FAR) 을변경가능하다. FAR 값은펄스반복주기와검출확률에의해결정되며대부분 1% 이하조건으로사용된다 [10]. 그림 6 PRF 카운터타이밍 Fig. 6 PRF counter timing 그림 4 광신호검출및트리거신호발생부 Fig. 4 Optical signal detection and trigger signal generator block diagram 2.2 PRF 코드검출및신호처리 NATO 규격인오차 0.1ms 이내의 PRF 코드를분석하기위하여 100MHz를기준클럭으로 10ns 단위의펄스카운터를설계하였다. 그림 5와같이처리절차는트리거신호가입력될때마다저장된 PRF 코드 (code) 값을 AXI User 로직에저장하고동시에 PS 로직에인터럽트가발생되면운용프로그램에서 AXI User 로직에저장된데이터를가져가는방식이다. 4분할광검출기의 4개의셀에서검출되는광세기를이용하여좌표값을얻을수있다 [11]. X 좌표는 ((A+D)-(B+C))/sum 이며 Y 좌표는 ((A+B)-(D+C))/ sum 으로표현된다. 아날로그디지털변환기 (ADC) 로는 4채널동시고속샘플링과 12비트분해능을갖는 Analog Devices 사의 AD 을사용하였다. FPGA와시리얼저전압차동신호 (low-voltage differential signaling, LVDS) 인터페이스를이용하여 100MSPS 구동이가능한로직을구현하였다. PRF 코드입력시사용되는트리거신호입력이후부터데이터를저장하여최대값을찾고데이터의평균을구하였다. 연속데이터를저장하기위하여 FPGA내메모리링 (Ring) 버퍼를구현하였다. 트리거신호가입력되면일정시간동안최대값및이전 / 이후데이터를저장하면서 PS 로직에인터럽트를발생한다. 운용프로그램의인터럽트서비스루틴함수에서해당메모리공간의데이터를읽어평균을취한뒤 RS-232 통신으로데이터를전송하는구조로설계되었다. 2.3 평가 그림 5 ZYNQ를이용한 PRF 카운터로직인터페이스 Fig. 5 PRF counter logic interface with ZYNQ 카운터내부에서사용되는신호및발생타이밍은그림 6과같다. 수신성능및정밀도를고려하여 100MHz의기준클럭을사용하였으며상승에지에서 CLK 값은계속증가한다. 트리거신호가입력되면클럭기준상승에지지점에서현재 CLK값 (m) 을저장한다. 다음트리거신호가입력될때까지 CLK는증가하고트리거발생시점에 CLK값 (n) 을저장하면서현재값 (n) 과이전값 (m) 의차이값 (n-m) 을저장한다. 32비트값으로설정된 CLK값이오버플로 (overflow) 일때는 Total_Cnt + Current_CLK - Previous_CLK 으로계산하였다. 여기서 Total_Cnt는 32비트범위인 0x 이다. 트리거가입력되면 PS 로직에인터럽트가입력되어인터럽트서비스루틴함수로처리가된다. 응용프로그램에서는이서비스루틴함수에서 AXI User 로직에저장된데이터를읽어오는기능을수행한다. PRF 코드수신오차및 ADC 샘플링방법에따른특성을고찰하기위해그림 7과같이평가시스템을구성하였다. 15ns 펄스폭을갖는레이저를구현하기위하여중심파장 1060nm, 파워 10W출력을갖는 FRANKFURT Laser Company사의 FLPI-1060 레이저다이오드를사용하였다. 4분할광검출기는 1064nm에최적화된 First Sensor사의 QP154-Q 제품을사용하였다. 그림 7 평가시스템구성도 Fig. 7 System diagram for evaluation 그림 8은 15ns 펄스폭을갖는광신호가 TIA 및 PA를지나정전용량에의해 31ns로늘어진펄스폭을보여준다. 식 (1) 에의 반능동형레이저유도추적에적합한레이저펄스반복주파수검출을위한디지털신호처리보드구현및표적좌표최적화 575

4 전기학회논문지 64권 4호 2015년 4월 정된 샘플링 포인트 수에 따른 X,Y 좌표값 에러를 보여준다. 표 본 데이터는 500개 이며 X,Y 좌표 최대값은 +/-1 이다. 3-포인 트 샘플링 및 평균을 적용시 X 좌표는 약 28%, Y좌표는 약 22% 향상됨을 알 수 있다. 15ns의 가우시안 광펄스 시뮬레이션 결과인 22%보다 동등 이상임을 확인하였다. 그림 10은 1-포인트 샘플링하여 취득된 좌표값 분포도를 보여 준다. X축 평균값 0.02에서 비대칭을 보여준다. 그림 11은 3포인트 샘플링후 평균하여 취득된 좌표값 분포도이다. X축 평균 값 0.04에서 대칭적이며 상대적으로 안정적임을 알 수 있다. 그림 8 측정 레이저 펄스폭 Fig. 8 laser pulse width 해 샘플 가능 범위는 약 78ns까지 측정이 가능하다. PRF 코드 분해능을 검토하기 위해 0.3ns의 PRF 오차를 갖는 레이저 다이오드 드라이버를 이용하여 50ms로 조사하였다. 검출 확률 100%, 500개의 샘플 데이터를 측정하였으며 평균값 ms, 표준편차 14.9ns로 측정되었다. 표준편차 발생은 100MHz의 안정도에 따른 변동과 PRF counter의 트리거 시점에 따라 1 2개 카운트값(n-m)의 오류로 추정된다. 안정적인 좌표값을 표현하기 위해 1-포인트 샘플과 3-포인트 를 이용한 평균화를 적용하여 비교 측정하였다. 그림 9는 FWHM 그림 10 1-포인트 샘플링일 때 분포도 Fig. 10 Distribution for 1-point sampling 이 31ns을 갖는 펄스로 FPGA 개발 툴인 Xilinx사의 chipscope 를 이용하여 측정하였으며 최대값(Max), 전(Before)/후(After) 데 이터를 찾는 과정을 보여준다. 표 1은 4분할 광검출기의 전체 면적에 레이저를 조사하여 측 그림 11 3-포인트 샘플링 및 평균화 분포도 Fig. 11 Distribution for 3-point sampling and averaging 3. 결 론 그림 9 3-point 샘플링 및 데이터 본 논문에서는 레이저 표적 지시기에서 발생된 신호를 검출하 Fig. 9 3-point sampling and data 기 위해서 아날로그 트리거 방식과 4분할 광 검출기 및 고속 표 ADC 샘플링 기술을 적용하여 반능동형 레이저 유도 추적에 적합 1 샘플링 포인트에 따른 에러값 한 신호처리보드를 구현하였다. 가우시안 펄스의 측정 오차를 최 Table 1 Error corresponding to sampling points 576 소화 할 수 있는 평균화 방법을 이용하여 안정도를 개선하였다. 항목 1 포인트 3 포인트 (표준편차) 최대값 샘플링 샘플링 평균 X 좌표 % PRF 코드의 수신 정밀도 향상을 위해 100MHz를 기준클럭으 Y 좌표 % 로 하는 주파수 카운터를 구현하여 50ms에서 오차 14.9ns로 측 개선율 또한 PRF 코드 수신 정밀도를 향상하기 위하여 카운터 로직을 설계하여 평가하였다.

Vol. 64, No. 4, APR, 2015 정하였으며 PRF 코드오차규격 0.1ms 대비약 1.5% 이내의안정도를확인하였다. 짧은광펄스신호를검출하기위해트리거신호와연동된 ADC 샘플링및 3-포인트평균화를적용하였으며 1-포인트샘플링보다 X축 28%, Y축 22% 의안정도를향상하였다 15ns 펄스폭을갖는가우시안광펄스의샘플링포인트에따른오차시뮬레이션값 22% 보다동등이상임을확인하였다. 레이저입력펄스는 15ns 이지만광검출기커패시턴스의영향으로 31ns로늘어나 22% 이상의개선효과를기대하였으나보드내잡음등의원인으로제한된것으로판단되며추가적인보드안정화가필요할것으로판단된다. 향후고속샘플링을갖는 ADC를적용할경우평균샘플수가증가하여좀더안정적인데이터추출이가능할것으로판단되며광검출증폭기의잡음최소화기법을적용할경우신호대잡음비 (signal to noise ratio, SNR) 및동적범위가크게향상될것을판단된다.
