However, concrete is not considered in the analysis of tangential shear stress of the prestressed nuclear containment. Quasi-static experiment of 1/16 scaled-down models, an available geometric similitude to design and construct, are performed to verify the previous research results. The scope of this research is focused on estimating the failure mechanism of the connection part of the wall and foundation of the nuclear containment. Additionally, finite element analysis is performed to find the weakest part of the connection part under seismic loading. Based on the analysis results, experimental models and loading apparatus are fabricated to perform quasi-static experiments. Finally, the experimental results are compared with the previous studies. The research results will be used in designing and supplying experimental parameters for the next level of partial member-based experiments. By the final stage of research, the failure mechanism of the wall-foundation connection part of a nuclear containment will be estimated and economical seismic design methods of the containment structure will be established.
