Progress report for Electronic Toll Collection System, Hi-pass The usages of ETCS in Korea are growing rapidly. More than one third of the toll transaction is processed by various type of OBU with pre and after paying system. Currently we are trying to utilize the OBU for real time traffic information collection. The Ministry of Land
and Marine Affairs and Korea Highway Corp. have been launched test project and prepared to extend it to the whole freeway system. 2. Showcase project for the 2010 Busan ITS world congress The main title of the 17 th 2010 world congress which will be held in Busan, Korea is UbiquitousSocietywithITS. The main themes of it have been newly selected as follows; Safe Convenient and Green Mobility with Ubiquity, Transparency, Trustability. (see the following diagram). The ITS WC organizing committee is subscribing the showcase ideas which can demonstrate the congress concepts to the public and will start the project at the end of this year. 3. The revision of technical regulation on BIS center to center communication After 3 years of adoption of BIS center to center technical regulation, it has been played very important roles for securing interoperability of BIS among the neighboring cities. However, it has been reported the limitation of the regulation because of the local specific bus operating system including joint bus line distribution system. Thus, MLMA is going to revise it based on the report by adding and describing in detail some attributes for the local bus operation. It is believed that this can be a good case for the development of ITS standardization in Korea and the harmonization between top down and bottom approach.
