SCRIPT 1 The best book I have ever read is Charlotte s Web by E. B. White because the author made an interesting choice of main characters. Not many authors have written successful novels concerning animals. To begin with, the main characters in the novel aside from a girl named Fern are all farm animals. Wilbur, a pig, is the main character in the story. Another main character, of secondary importance, is a spider named Charlotte. Having animals as the main characters, rather than just people, makes the novel quite interesting. Evaluation Is the preference clearly stated? Yes No Are the reasons clearly stated? Yes No Are the reasons well supported? Yes No Why : only one reason given 2 1984 was insightful because George Orwell wrote the novel to show society what it could become if things kept getting worse. Orwell exaggerated the current problems of totalitarianism in his time, and applied them to the future. He took the ideas of technology, and applied them to extreme situations. Also, the book was very satirical. Every image I received from the main character, Winston Smith, was completely pessimistic. Just when I thought things couldn t get worse for the main character, they did. Evaluation Is the preference clearly stated? Yes No Are the reasons clearly stated? Yes No Are the reasons well supported? Yes No Why : no restatement of question 3 The best book I have ever read is Lord of the Flies by William Golding because the novel has an excellent theme and because parts of it are very ironic. First of all, the main theme of the novel is a loss of innocence. The novel begins with several young and innocent boys on the island who are searching for civilization. As the novel progresses, the boys change from wellbehaved, orderly children to bloodthirsty hunters who have no desire to return to civilization. Evaluation Is the preference clearly stated? Yes No Are the reasons clearly stated? Yes No Are the reasons well supported? Yes No Why : second reason not supported 026 Part A
