St. Patrick CoCathedral is blessed with your gifts of ministry. May the Risen Christ renew your faith as you continue to be signs of hope, and witnesses chosen by God. Filled with the new life of Easter joy, how are we going to rise up by forgiving a family member or friend, comforting someone dealing with a serious health issue, or listening to someone dealing with a disintegrating marriage? How can we lift someone living in the tombs of resentment, apathy, judgment, anger or loneliness? April is here and everyone is probably excited to get outdoors and enjoy our beautiful state. 3 Easter Sunday GOSPEL MEDITATION The irst light of Easter dawn had begun to creep over the horizon. The steadfast women from Friday's gory events are returning again to the body of their Lord. "Who will roll back the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?" How quickly we return to mundane concerns and how thoroughly God wants to surprise us! Imagine the utter shock upon seeing the stone rolled away, the tomb empty, and a stranger clothed in light proclaiming the impossible. "You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the cruciied. He has been raised; he is not here." He is risen indeed and the world will never be the same. We know from other Gospel passages that Mary Magdalene made haste to the disciples to proclaim the Good News. We know that Peter and John rushed to the tomb to see for themselves. We know that the wonder and awe of the Resurrection permeated the lives of the apostles until their own dying day. Can we comprehend the utterly worldchanging nature of this surprise? The historical reanimation of a dead man is of no real value to us. But we know that Easter Sunday is so much more. By the Resurrection of Jesus, life has triumphed over death for us all. The gates of heaven are opened and the treasury of graces is poured out upon the here and now. This Resurrection Day, let us draw near, amazed yet unafraid, to the risen Christ. Let us recall the words of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, "Jesus is not a character from the past. He lives, and he walks before us as one who is alive, he calls us to follow him, the living one, and in this way to discover for ourselves the path of life" Montana is often hailed as God's Country. Spending a week at Saint Thomas Camp it's not hard to see why that's true. Saint Thomas Camp had it's humble beginnings in the 1920s. The Sisters of Providence who ran an orphanage in town began taking the children for excursions in the Monarch wilderness. On April 15th, 1958 the Sisters purchased the Karlson Ranch. They called their new property Saint Thomas Camp. In 1986, the Diocese of Great Falls Billings purchased the camp with the purpose of using the facility as a way to help teenagers experience Christ through a series of annual summer camps. It is our goal that every teenager who sets foot on the property would feel the love of Christ, experience a great adventure in the outdoors and be challenged to become the saint God wants them to be. Jesus went through death to the other side, opened the way for us, and has already begun pouring his Sprit upon us.

We care about things this side of deathsickness, poverty, hungerand we need to do everything we can to help make this world a better place here and now.

We exist! We have a destiny that is wondrous, and is forever. Imagine that. Let bad luck do its worst to me. I can handle it. This life is only the blink of an eye.

Well, what s the reason for the Easter season? In the Easter season we go to the heart of what God has done for us. Jesus went through death to the other side, opened the way for us, and has already begun pouring his Sprit upon us. We are om a track toward a transformed human life that will go on after death, forever. Now that s worth a grand celebration a 50day celebration. We care about things this side of deathsickness, poverty, hungerand we need to do everything we can to help make this world a better place here and now. It s part of preparing creation for what is to come. But our time on earth is only a licker is existence. Even if no one helps us, even if we re lat on our back in misery, we can celebrate Easter. Jan Pursell has a group of ORCA Exchange Students coming from France June 17 July 7th, there will be 5 boys and 5 girls ages 15 & 16. They all speak some English, and there is a chaperon that is fluent in English that comes with them. She will stay with Jan. You won t need to speak French to be a host family. They will come with their own spending money and medical insurance. Their main reason for coming is to experience the American Teenage way of Life, and to pracce their English. All you need to do is welcome them into your home as part of the family.
