However, these methods are not convenient to both patients and doctors, because they are time-consuming and complex and must be performed under sterile conditions. The aim of this article is to introduce a new technique for effective treatment of auricular hematoma using a dental impression material and to evaluate the effectiveness of this compressive technique compared with the results of other methods. Materials and MethodThe subjects were 45 patients who were diagnosed with auricular hematoma at the Ajou University Hospital from June, 1994 to July, 001. We analyzed the results, complications, number of visits, treatment duration according to treatment methods on the basis of outpatient charts, retrospectively. For the treatment of auricular hematoma, we aspirated hematoma with a large bore needle and then placed mixed base and catalyst of Exaflex GC America Inc., Illinois type O on the anterior and posterior surfaces of the auricle in the shape of an inverted U. The patients were checked on the rd day following the procedure and the impression material was removed on the 7th day. ResultsUsing the dental impression material, we treated 9 patients with excellent cosmetic results and one patient with minimal deformity. Eight patients were treated with collodioncotton cast and 16 of 19 patients were successfully treated with cotton dental rolls. All patients treated with the dental impression material required an average of.1 visits to the hospital and 8.6 days for treatment compared to 6.9 hospital visits and 1.8 treatment days in cases using cotton dental rolls. ConclusionWe believe that this technique using the dental impression material is appropriate for treatment of auricular hematoma. 결 과 치과용 인상재료를 사용한 경우(Table 1) 치과용 인상재료를 이용하여 압박처치를 받은 예중 4예 는 본원에 내원하기 이전에 수 회의 혈종 흡입술을 시행받고 재발한 경우였다. 7예는 1회의 혈종 흡입술을 시행받았고, 예는 재발된 혈종으로 회의 흡입술을 받았다. 예 중 9예 는 이개 모양의 변형없이 완치되었고(Fig.

Tx. previous treatment, No. of Asp number of aspiration, No. visits number of visits, Dur. of Tx duration of treatment 고로 다시 바르고, 동량(제작사에서 제공한 스푼 하나의 량) 의 Exaflex base(노란색)와 catalyst(파란색)를 준비하여 손으로 빠르게 주물러 1분 이내에 혼합하며(Fig. 1B), 혼합 물질의 색깔이 연두색으로 일정하게 되어야 한다(Fig. 1C). 이 혼합 인상체를 어느 정도 납작하게 만든 뒤 이개의 앞, 뒷 면을 포함하도록 하여 이개혈종 부위에 압접한다. 이 때 인 상체는 가능한 U 역상 모양이 되도록 하고, 이개강(cavum concha) 부위를 포함하도록 한다(Fig. 1D and E). 이는 인 상체의 접합 및 유지에 중요하다. 인상체를 손으로 잡고 있 는 동안 약 ~5분 후에 인상체는 경화되었고, 경화된 치과 용 인상체를 비닐 테이프로 고정하고 거즈로 단순하게 드레 A B C D 싱한다. 환자는 감염 방지를 위해 일간 항생제를 복용하였 고, 시술 일 후에 다시 내원하여 혈종의 재발 여부 및 인상 체의 접합 정도를 확인하였다. 인상체는 7일째에 제거하였다. 결 과 치과용 인상재료를 사용한 경우(Table 1) 치과용 인상재료를 이용하여 압박처치를 받은 예중 4예 는 본원에 내원하기 이전에 수 회의 혈종 흡입술을 시행받고 재발한 경우였다. 7예는 1회의 혈종 흡입술을 시행받았고, 예는 재발된 혈종으로 회의 흡입술을 받았다. 예 중 9예 는 이개 모양의 변형없이 완치되었고(Fig. A and B), 1예 에서만 약간의 이개변형을 초래했다(Fig. ). 이개변형을 초 래한 예는 본 방법의 처치를 받기 이전에 약 9개월 간에 5회 의 재발로 여러 가지 처치를 받은 경우였다(Fig. C and D). 모든 환자는 평균.1회(~5회) 병원을 방문하였고, 치료 종 료일(최종병원방문일)까지는 평균 8.6일 이었다(Table ).
