The present study applied the design structure matrix (DSM) method to the development of design equations for a computer workstation, and compared design values from the design equations with corresponding design values of ergonomic recommendations and existing products. The relationships between design dimensions (e.g., legroom and worktable) were analyzed by a DSM, and then the application order of design equations (e.g., seatpan, backrest, armrest, legroom, and worktable in descending order) was determined. Next, design equations were developed by analyzing the geometric relationships between computer workstation design dimensions and anthropometric dimensions. Finally, design values for a computer workstation were determined by considering a standard posture defined and representative human models (5th, 50th, 95th %ile). The design values calculated using the design equations were similar with those of ergonomic recommendations found in literature and two commercial products measured in the study; however, some design values (e.g., seatpan height) were different due to discrepancy in standard posture. The DSM method would be utilized to systematically analyze the relationships between design dimensions for anthropometric product design. Keyword: Anthropometric product design, Computer workstation design, Design structure matrix 1. 서론 인체측정학적제품설계에는설계대상의특성을고려하여개발된설계공식이활용된다. You et al.(1997) 은운전석, 운전대, 그리고페달에대한인체측정학적설계공식을개발하여버스운전실의 layout 을설계하였다. 그리고 BSR/ HFES 100(2003) 은인체측정변수, 표준자세및여유공간을고려하여개발된설계공식을통해컴퓨터워크스테이션의표준설계지침초안을개발하였다. 이러한인체측정학적 * 이논문은 2006 년교육인적자원부의재원으로한국학술진흥재단의지원을받아수행된연구임 (KRD D00683). 교신저자 : 유희천주소 : 경북포항시남구효자동산31, 전화 : , hcyou@postech.ac.kr

2 112 정기효 권오채 유희천大韓人間工學會 설계공식은사용자특성 ( 인체크기및자세 ) 과제품특성 ( 예 : 설계변수연관성, 설계원칙, 제약사항 ) 을고려하여개발된다. 설계공식및설계치수의도출순서는설계변수들간의연관관계 ( 독립, 순차, 병행 ) 를고려하여결정된다. 제품을구성하는설계변수들은상호연관성에따라독립 (independent), 순차 (sequential), 병행 (coupled) 의관계를가진다 (You et al., 1997). 독립관계에있는설계변수는상호영향이없어독립적으로설계공식이결정되나, 순차관계에있는설계변수는다른설계변수의치수결정에영향을주기때문에순차적으로공식이도출된다. 한편, 병행관계에있는설계변수는상호영향을주기때문에동시에설계가이루어져야한다. 따라서, 설계변수들간의연관관계를체계적으로분석하여설계공식및치수의도출우선순위가결정되어야한다. 작업또는설계요소들간의연관관계를체계적으로분석하는 design structure matrix(dsm) 기법은인체측정학적치수설계의순서결정에유용하게적용될수있다. DSM은작업또는시스템구성요소들간의종속성을행렬에도식화하는도구로써시스템분석및프로젝트의일정관리에활용된다 (DSMWEB, 2007). DSM에서작업의종속성표시는행에영향을받는작업, 열에영향을주는작업을표시하여이루어진다. 그림 1.a를예로들면, F 작업은행에표시된 C, D, E 작업에영향을받고, 열에표시된 G, H 작업에영향을주는것을나타낸다. 이와같이 DSM 기법은작업수행에대 한연관성을체계적으로분석한정보를사용하여그림 1.b 와같은작업의시행순서를결정할수있게한다. 본연구는 DSM을활용하여인체측정학적으로컴퓨터워크스테이션을설계하고, 문헌과시판제품의설계치수와비교평가하였다. 컴퓨터워크스테이션설계에 DSM을적용하여체계적설계요소들간의종속성분석을통해인체측정학적설계공식이개발되었다. 또한, 개발된설계공식에문헌의표준자세정보 (Diffrient et al., 1981; BSR/HFES 100, 2002) 와 US Army 인체측정자료 (Gordon et al., 1988) 를적용하여설계치수가도출되었으며, 개발된설계치수는컴퓨터워크스테이션권장설계및시판제품의설계치수와비교평가되었다. 2. DSM 을활용한인체측정학적컴퓨터워크스테이션설계 본연구의인체측정학적설계는그림 2에나타낸것과같은 5 단계의절차를통해이루어졌다. 첫째단계에서는 DSM 기법을활용하여설계변수들간의연관성을분석하여치수설계순서가결정되었다. 둘째단계에서는설계대상인구집단을대표하는인체모델의인체크기와표준자세가정의되었다. 셋째단계에서는컴퓨터워크스테이션을위한인간공학적설계원칙, 설계요구사항, 그리고제약사항이결정되었으며, 넷째단계에서는상기파악된정보에근간하여설계공식이개발되었다. 마지막단계에서는개발된설계공식에대표인체모델의인체크기와표준자세를대입하여설계치수가도출되었다. 3 第 26 卷, 第 3 號, Design Structure Matrix 를활용한인체측정학적제품설계방법 : 컴퓨터워크스테이션설계적용 113 해 14개설계변수가파악되었다 ( 표 1 참조 ). 본연구는설계대상제품인의자와책상을체계적으로분석하여설계변수의계층적구조가파악되었다. 예를들어, 의자는좌판, 등받이, 그리고팔걸이로구성되며, 그중에서좌판은높이, 너비, 깊이의설계변수로보다세분화되었다. DSM을적용한설계변수의연관성분석을통해치수설계순서가결정되었다. Diffrient et al. (1981) 은자동차운전시안락한자세범위가제공되어있으며, BSR/HFES 100(2002) 에는컴퓨터워크스테이션사용표준자세에대한정보가제공되어있다. 본연구는기존연구에서제시한자세범위를통합하여평균에해당하는자세를표준자세로정의하였다. 2.3 설계가이드라인컴퓨터워크스테이션의설계변수에대한설계원칙과여유공간정보가결정되었다. 각설계변수에대한설계원칙은인간공학적설계원칙세가지 (design for average person, design for extreme person, design for adjustability; Sanders and McCormick, 1992) 중에서설계변수의특성을고려하여정의되었다. 예를들어, 의자높이에대한설계원칙은 design for adjustability로설정되었고, 의자너비는 design for extreme person 으로결정되었다. 또한, 설계변수에대한여유공간은 BSR/HFES 100(2002) 에서제공하는정보가활용되었다 ( 예 : 좌판의높이설계에는인체측정에서고려되지않은신발높이 2.5cm 를보정 ). 2.4 설계공식 DSM 분석을통해결정된치수설계순서에따라설계변 Seatpan Seatback Armrest Legroom Table 수 14개에대한공식이개발되었다. 예를들어, 설계변수중에서설계공식이가장우선적으로개발되어야하는의자좌판의높이 ( 단위 : cm) 는설계변수및인체변수연관관계에의해그림 4에나타낸것과같이 'BD11 sin(ad3 - AD6) - BD6 sin(ad6) + 2.5' 으로설정되었다. 그림 3. 컴퓨터워크스테이션설계순서 2.2 대표인체모델및표준자세인체측정학적설계를위해설계변수와연관된인체변수 (13개 ) 와설계대상인구의 90% 를수용하는 percentile 대표인체모델 (3명) 이선정되었다. 본연구에서는컴퓨터워크스테이션설계변수와인체변수의연관성을체계적으로분석 2.5 컴퓨터워크스테이션설계치수개발된설계공식에대표인체모델의인체크기와표준자세정보를대입하여설계치수가도출되었다. 예로들어, 그림 4 의의자높이는대표인체모델 3명에대해 31~39cm 의범위를가지게되어, 의자높이조절범위는 8cm가권장된다.

DSM 기법은작업또는시스템구성요소들간의종속성을체계적으로분석하는기법으로써, 시스템분석, 제품설계, 프로젝트일정관리에주로활용된다 (DSMWEB, 2007). 본연구는인체측정학적설계를위한설계변수간의종속성분석에 DSM 기법을활용하였다. 개발된 DSM 을활용한인체측정학적설계방법은컴퓨터워크스테이션설계뿐만아니라, 다양한제품의인체측정학적설계에활용될수있다. 본연구에서개발된설계치수는표준지침및시판제품의치수와유사한것으로나타났다 ( 표 2 참조 ). 예를들어, 본연구의좌판깊이는 43cm 로서문헌 (Chaffin et al., 1999; BSR/HFES 100, 2002) 에서제시된 33~47 cm 범위에포함된다. 또한, 시판중인의자 2종의좌판깊이는 42cm와 43cm 로조사되어본연구의결과와유사한것으로나타났다. 또한, 팔걸이높이도 24cm 로설계되어문헌 (BSR/HFES 100, 2002) 의 18cm~27cm에포함된다. 한편, 본연구의일부설계치수는문헌및시판제품과차이를보였는데, 원인은표준자세의차이에따른것으로분석되었다. 예를들어, 본연구의중립좌판높이 (35cm) 는문 Design dimension(dd) Seatpan Proposed 표 2. 컴퓨터워크스테이션설계치수비교 * BSR/HFES100 (2002) Reference design* BS ** CEN ** Diffrient et al. 5 第 26 卷, 第 3 號, Design Structure Matrix 를활용한인체측정학적제품설계방법 : 컴퓨터워크스테이션설계적용 115 헌 (45.5cm) 과시판제품 (49 cm) 보다작은경향을보였다. 그러나표준자세를문헌에서사용한자세로변경하면 ( 무릎각도 : 65 90, 좌판각도 : 4 0 ) 좌판중립높이는 43.3cm 로증가하여문헌과유사한수준이된다. 따라서, 인체측정학적설계최적화를위해서는사용자의자세변화에따른효과분석이필요하다. 본연구는설정된표준자세를적용하여설계치수를도출하였다. 그러나사용자들은선호에따라자세를결정하거나, 다양한다리자세를취하더라도편안하게착석할수있기를원하므로, 사용자의자세변화에따른설계치수시뮬레이션을통한설계가필요하다. 마지막으로, 본연구에서는 percentile 을활용하여생성된 3명의대표인체모델을사용하였으나, 통계적으로모집단을보다적합하게대표하는인체모델의활용이필요하다. Percentile 방법은설계관련개별인체변수에대해백분율 ( 예 : 95th %ile) 을사용하여대표인체모델의크기를결정한다 (HFES 300, 2003). 그로인해, 개별인체변수는지정된백분율의인구를수용하지만, 다수인체변수를설계에고려하는다변량설계에는설계대상인구를통계적으로적합하게수용하지못하게된다 (Roebuck et al., 1975). 따라서, 본연구의결과는설계대상인구를통계적으로보다적합하게대표하는인체모델을적용한보완이요구된다.
