I can dare say that the occurrence of earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, droughts, and wild fires in various places just this year, and the deadly heat along with the tremendous speed of glaciers melting, etc., are signs of the end of the world. At the same time, as I see today s churches and the lives of Christians, I get to think that surely, we are living in the last days. I recall the words of rebuke that Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth. Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? (1 Cor. 6:7). Also, the shameful conduct of the officers of a certain council which represents all of the churches in Southern California has gone too far and is deplorable beyond measure. Why has this happened to the church, to the Christians? In short, it is because they lost the essence. Park practices vocal exercises for SDM Praise Team 우리 주님께서는 주님을 따르는 자들에게 너희는 세상 의 소금이요, 빛이라 (마5:13-16)고 말씀하셨습니다. 이 것이 세상과 구별된 성도의 본질입니다. 크리스천이란 죄로 어두워진 세상을 밝히는 빛이어야 하며, 부패하고 타락한 세 상에 방부제 역할과 맛을 내는 소금이 되어야 합니다. 교회 의 경우 원래 사명인 선교와 구제 에 힘쓰지 않으면 결 국 세상적인 가치관을 가지게 되며 본질에서 멀어질 수 밖 에 없습니다. sic skills, they can never become great athletes or outstanding performers. In the same way, churches and Christians must go back to the basics in order to restore the essence of faith. First, we need to ask ourselves the following questions, Am I indeed a Christian? Am I truly a child of God who was saved? Then, we should ask, Am I living like a Christian? As you know, the word Christian, which is a term that originated from the Greek word Christianos, is a title given as a nickname to mean a follower of Christ. Are you a follower of Christ? Are you indeed growing to become more like Christ? Our Lord said to those who followed Him, You are the salt and the light of the world (Matthew 5:13-16). This is the Christian essence that sets them apart from the world. Christians ought to be the light that brightens the world that has been darkened by sin, and they must be the salt that acts as a preservative in the decayed and depraved world and that gives flavor. As a church, if we do not strive for missions and mercy ministries that are the fundamental mission of the church, we will ultimately adopt a set of worldly values, and will drift away from the essence of Christianity. I recall the lyrics of a hymn that we used to sing often, although we hardly get a chance to listen to it these days.

It is so beautiful. I wasn t able to write this check until now after my fall on July 22nd and my reverse shoulder replacement on July 26th. My right arm has been in a sling all this time so no writing has been possible until now and only carefully for 5 more weeks while healing is complete. They predict complete recovery in 6 months. 5 사역활동 및 샬롬소식 -- 지역교회 사역: 박모세 목사님이 9월 18일(주일)에 LA 남서울은혜교회(이일권 목사)에서 말씀을 전하였습니 다. 방문: OC제일장로교회(엄영민 목사), 갈릴리선교 교회(한천영 목사), 서문장로교회(황성국 목사). -- 제34차 사랑의 휠체어 보내기 발송식이 9월 20일(화) 본 선교회 주차장에서 약40명의 회원들과 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 은혜롭게 거행됐습니다. 특별히 이번 사 업을 통하여 휠체어 선적만도 10,500 대를 돌파하는 뜻 깊은 행사였습니다. 34차 사업은 아프리카의 빈국 부룬 디와 중국에 총 3컨테이너를 선적함으로 약 3,500명의 장애인들에게 실질적인 도움과 함께 효과적으로 복음 을 전하게 됩니다. -- 목요예배 수화 통역 제공: 소수의 청각장애인들이 목요 예배에 참석하여 9월부터 동시수화통역을 제공하고 있 습니다. 본 선교회 장애우 중 대학에서 수화를 전공한 지련의 자매님이 수화 통역으로 섬깁니다. 매주 목요예배시 수화 통역으로 봉사하는 지련의 자매님 / Miss Lianyi Chi volunteers to interpret Korean Sign Language during the worship service every Thursday Ministry Activities & SDM News -- Local Church Ministry: Rev. Visits The 1st Presbyterian Church of O.C, Galilee Mission Church,, Suh Moon Presbyterian Church -- The Launching Ceremony of the 34th Wheels of Love Project was held on Sept. 20th at the Ministries parking lot with about 40 members & persons concerned attending. In particular, through this project we have celebrated the record breaking of over 10,500 wheelchairs to be shipped in total. The 3 containers go to China and Burundi, one of the poorest in Africa to give practical aid to about 3,500 people with disabilities and preach the gospel effectively. -- The Interpretation of Sign Language is provided for the hearing impaired during the Thursday Evening Service. Pastor) 야곱아너를창조하신여호와께서이제말씀하시느니라이스라엘아너를조성하신자가이제말씀하시느니라너는두려워말라내가너를구속하였고내가너를지명하여불렀나니너는내것이라 ( 사 43:1) 초등학교시절에저희집안은대대로유교집안이라서매달초하루와보름에할머니는정화수를떠놓고당신이믿는신에게무어라말하며빌고기도하셨습니다. 그런모습을보고자라던저는중학교를미션스쿨에다니게되었습니다. 하지만교회는가지않고친구가교회를가자고하여교회문앞에까지갔다가돌아오기를몇번했었지요. 그러다가고등학교를졸업하고어느수요일옆집에사는아주머니가교회에한번만가보자는말에따라나가게되었습니다. 매주월요일아침에재활운동실에서예배를인도하시는김명숙전도사님과회원들 / Mrs. Myung Sook Kim, the Asst. Pastor leads worship service for those who regularly come to our Rehab Exercise Room every Monday in the morning 예배에참석한첫날, 주님은저를만나주셨고큰은혜를부어주셨습니다. 그날저는무엇인가 ( 성령님 ) 에이끌림을받고말로할수없고형언할수없는기쁨과평안이마음가운데흐르며왜진작친구가예수믿자고할때믿지않았던가하는생각이들었습니다. 그날저녁예배를마치고집으로가지않고아무도없는텅빈교회바닥에서기도도할줄몰랐지만밤새주님앞에엎드렸는데그동안의삶이필름으로지나가듯기억이나며주체할수없는눈물이하염없이흘렀습니다. 저의신앙생활은그렇게시작이되었습니다. 날이갈수록믿지않는가족들이구원받지못하고지옥에가면어쩌나하는안타까운마음이들면서가족들의구원을위해서밤마다눈물로 3 개월정도기도를했던것같습니다. But now, thus says the LORD, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!(Isaiah 43:1) When I was in elementary school, our family had been Confucist for generations. First day of every month, and fifteenth day of every month, my grandmother prepared a bowl of purified water in front of her and prayed to a god she believed in. I grew up watching that but I ended up going to a Mission School for my junior high education. Then I didn t go to the church, and my friend invited me to go to the church. But I would go to the front gate of the church and then turn back many times. After I graduated from high school, on a Wednesday, the lady next door asked me to try church just once, so I went with her. During the worship service, God met me and poured a lot of blessings on me. I was drawn to something (Holy Spirit) that day and there was indescribable joy and peace flowing through my heart and I thought why I didn t believe in Jesus before when my friend asked. That night, after the worship service I didn t go home but stayed on the empty floor of the church and even though I didn t know how to pray I bowed down in front of Jesus and my life flashed before me like a film and I cried uncontrollably. My life of faith started like that. 8 그러던어느날어머니가허리디스크로몸이아프셔서병원에입원을하게되었고그때엄마와큰언니에게복음을전하여두분이예수를믿고교회에나가게되었지요. 그후로오빠들과또다른언니들이예수를믿게되었습니다. ( 저는 6 남매중막내입니다.) 당시믿지않으시던아버지는가족들을교회나가지못하게하시며저에게우리집안은예수믿지않으니예수믿으려면집에서나가라고하시며반대와핍박으로많은어려움을겪게되었습니다. 그무렵저는하나님의부르심을받고신학대학에들어가게되었지요. 그러나아버지의핍박은날로더심해졌습니다. 그러나제가신학교 2 학년때예수믿는다고핍박하며가장힘들게하시던아버지도하나님께서자녀삼아주셔서예수를믿게됨으로우리가족들은모두구원의반열에서게되었습니다. 주예수를믿으라그리하면너와네집이구원을얻으리라 는사도행전 16:31 절말씀이이루어진것입니다할렐루야! 다음호에이어서말씀드리겠습니다 ~~~ 제 34 차사랑의휠체어발송식후에 KBS TV 와인터뷰를갖는김영직형제 / Brother Young Jik Kim is being interviewed by KBS TV after the launching ceremony of the 34th Wheels of Love Project 아프리카로선적하기전기증받은휠체어등을깨끗이닦아주는김규동집사님 / Mr. Kyu Dong Kim volunteers to clean each and every medical aid donated before shipment to Africa Then, one day my mother hurt her disk and was hospitalized, when I shared the gospel with my mother and my older sister, and they believed and started to attend church. After that, my brother and other sisters came to believe in Jesus Christ. (I am the youngest of 6 children). But my father, who was not a believer at the time tried to keep the family from going to church. He said to me, that our family does not believe in Jesus so if I wanted to believe in Jesus, I had to leave. I had to face a lot of opposition and persecution. Then, at the time I was called by God and went to the seminary. But, my father s persecution got worse every day. Then, when I was 2nd year at the seminary, God made my father, who persecuted me and gave me a hard time, His child and he became a believer of Jesus Christ, and so all of us in our family came to be in the line of salvation. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. (Acts 16:31) came true. Praise the Lord!
