구역 ( 舊譯 ) 성경 - 1911-9-
" 주기도문 " 의개정을두고서는개정위원들사이에도견해차이로인한논란이있었습니다. 그러나다음과같이, 최소한개정을함으로써, " 개역한글판 " 의번역을존중하였습니다. 개역한글판 : 나라이임하옵시며 개정개역판 : 나라가임하옵시며 ' 나라 ' 는중세국어에서 ' ㅎ종성체언 ' 인 ' 나랗 ' 으로서, 주격조사 '- 이 ' 가붙어 " 나라ㅎ + 이 " 로쓰던말이다. 그러던것이 ' 나라 ' 에 ' ㅎ ' 받침이없어지면서, 주격조사 '- 이 ' 가남은형태이다. 1911 년에는 '- 가 ' 로적었던주격조사를 1938 년개역때에이러한문법적이유로 '- 이 ' 로개정하였었다. 그동안적지않은사람들이흔히 " 나라에임하옵시며 " 로오해했던본문인데, 이제 60 여년만에현대의어법을따라개정한것이다. 개역한글판 : 오늘날우리에게 개정개역판 : 오늘우리에게 ' 오늘 ' 의희랍어원어는분명히 24 시간의하루를가리키는말이지, 여러날또는한시대를가리키는 ' 오늘날 ' 이아니다. ' 오늘날 ' 에 ' 오늘 ' 의뜻이없지는않지만, 지금은거의 " 요즈음의시대 " 를뜻하는말로쓰이고있어서, 낯설게느껴지게하거나오해를일으키게하였다. 오해를줄이기위하여개정하였다. 개역한글판 : 우리죄를사하여주옵시고 개정개역판 : 우리죄를사하여주시옵고 중세국어에서는겸양의선어말어미로 '- 옵시 ' 를썼지만, 현대어로오면서높임말로존칭의선어말어미 '- 시 -' 가모든동사에일반적으로쓰이게되었다. 그러면서 '- 시옵시 ' 와같이존칭과겸양이중복되는현상이일어났고, ' 시오 ' 가존경과겸양의선어말어미로두루쓰이게되었다. 이러한변화는 1911 년 구역 의 " 일홈을거륵게옵시며 " 를 1938 년 개역 에서 " 이름이거룩히여김을받으시오며 " 로개정하면서, "- 옵시 " 를 " 시오 " 로개정하여, 일부본문개정에반영되었던어법의변화인데, 이제주기도문전체에반영하여어법의통일을기하였다. 개역한글판 : 대개 개정개역판 : " 대개 " 라는말은헬라어 hoti 에대한번역이다. 아주초기에선교사들이조선말을배우기위해번역했던 1892 년 ' 마태복음 ' 에서, 영어의 'for'( 그리스어 ' 호티 ') 를 -10-
기계적으로 ' 대개 ' 로번역하여이말을 103 회나사용하였는데, 이는서툰수준의우리말번역이었다. 1900 년의구역신약전서의마태복음에이말이 17 회만남았다가, 1938 년개역때에모두없어졌다. 한국교회에서는 1983 년통일찬송가가나오기이전까지만해도대부분 " 대개 " 가있었던구역의 ' 주기도 ' 로기도를하였다. 그러다가통일찬송가에개역의주기도문이실리는데, 1938 년이후의개역성경본문그대로가아니라, 개역본문에구역에있었던 " 대개 " 만되살린형태로실린다. 원어 hoti 는이유를설명하는문장접속사로서, " 왜냐하면... 때문이다 " 의뜻이지만, 이렇게까지번역하는것은원문에비해무거운번역이된다. 우리말은전치사가없는말이기때문에, 후치사인조사어미로그의미를나타내며, 또한 " 어순과문맥 " 이이러한내용을나타낸다. 그러므로개역때에번역하지않거나, " 이는...'- 임 /- 함 ' 이라 " 정도로번역하였다. 게일역 (1925 년 ), 개역 (1937 년 ), 새번역 (1967 년 ), 공동번역 (1971 년 ) 표준새번역 (1983) 등중요한우리말번역에는모두 " 대개 " 가없다.
