1 Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering 윤중한 * Design and Manufacture of CPW-fed Two Arc-shaped Antenna for WLAN Applications Joong-Han Yoon * Department of Electron Engineering, Silla University, Busan , Korea 요약 본논문에서는 WLAN 시스템에적용가능한이중대역을갖는원호모양안테나를설계및제작하였다. 제안된안테나는 CPW 급전형태를기본으로두개의분기되는원형모양방사체와접지면으로구성하였다. 최적화된파라메타를얻기위해상용툴 (HFSS) 을사용하여시뮬레이션하였으며파라메타연구를통해최적화된수치를얻었으며제안된안테나를제작하였다. 시뮬레이션결과와측정결과를비교하였으며 -10dB 임피던스대역폭을기준으로 WLAN 대역을만족하는특성을얻었다. 그리고동작대역에서측정된이득과방사패턴의특성을나타내었다. ABSTRACT In this paper, a dual-band arc-shaped monopole antenna for WLAN(Wireless Local Area Networks) applications. The proposed antenna is based on CPW-fed structure, and composed of two-arc shaped of radiating patch and ground plane. To obtain the optimized parameters, we used the simulator, Ansoft s High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and found the parameters that greatly effect antenna characteristics. Using optimal parameters, the antenna is fabricated. The numerical and experiment results demonstrated that the propnosed antenna satisfied the -10 db impedance bandwidth requirement while simultaneously covering the WLAN bands. 2 Ⅰ. 서론무선통신기술의발전에따라이를응용한통신기기역시지속적으로발전하고있으며최근이동통신의발전에따라스마트폰기기를이용한다양한서비스에대한요구가급격히증가하고있다. 과거의음성서비스기능만을요구하는시대를지나다양한대용량멀티미디어서비스를소비자는요구하고있으며이에띠라통신기기에장착되는안테나역시소형경량, 멀티밴드동작등을할수있도록개발되고있다. 현재이동통신단말기에사용되고있는안테나는마이크로스트립구조가많이이용되고있다. 마이크로스트립구조의안테나는저렴하고견고하며대량생산이가능한장점을갖고있지만좁은대역과낮은효율을갖는것이단점이다 [1]. 이를개선하기위해광대역또는다중대역특성을얻기위한다양한형태의안테나가연구되었다. 또한멀티밴드및광대역특성을갖도록다양한형태의방사체와급전구조를갖는안테나에대한개발이이루어지있다 [2]. 이러한마이크로스트립안테나의급전구조중CPW 급전구조방식은마이크로스트립선로급전에비해분산특성이작고, 광대역특성을얻을수있으며접지면과동일한면에급전구조를구현함으로서급전손실을줄일수있다. 이러한장점으로인해 CPW 급전을이용한마이크로스트립안테나에대한많은연구가지속적으로이루어져왔다 [3-17]. CPW 급전구조를이용한광대역특성 [3-7] 에대한연구가진행되었으며더불어다중공진특성 [8-10] 에대한연구도진행되어왔다. 특히 CPW 급전이적용된 WLAN 시스템용안테나에대한연구도많이진행되어왔다 [11-17]. 한편원호모양의방사체를갖는모노폴안테나에대한연구도진행되어왔다 [18-24]. 특히원호모양의구조를사용하여광대역특성을갖는 CPW 급전방식의모노폴안테나 [22] 그리고팬모양의안테나에원호모양의슬롯을이용하여이중노치특성을갖는 CPW 급전광대역안테나 [23] 에대한연구가진행되어왔다. 본논문에서는 CPW 급전구조에서이중대역을갖는 WLAN 안테나를설계하고자한다. 두개의원호모양의스트립선로를분기하여 2.4 GHz 대역 ( GHz) 과 5 GHz 대역 ( GHz, GHz) 에서공진하도록구성하였다. 다음장에서구체적 인설계구조그리고제작및측정결과에대해서설명하겠다. Ⅱ. 안테나설계 제안된안테나는그림 1과같은구조로설계하였다. 제안된안테나는두개원호모양의방사체와접지면으로구성되어있으며원호모양방사체는두개의선로를통해이중공진이발생하도록설계하였다. 길이가긴원호모양선로는 2.4 GHz 대역에서공진하도록설계하였으며짧은길이의원호모양선로는 5 GHz 대역에서공진하도록설계하였다. 따라서원호모양스트립선로 1, 원호모양스트립선로 2 그리고두선로사이에거리를적절히조정하여 WLAN 대역에맞는이중대역특성을갖도록설계하였다. 그림 1. 제안된이중대역 WLAN 안테나 Fig. 1 Proposed WLAN antenna of dual band operation 안테나의전체크기 (W 1 L 1 ) 는 25.0 mm 44.0 mm 의크기를갖으며접지면의크기 (W 1 L 5 ) 는 25.0 mm 18.2 mm이다. WLAN 이중대역특성을갖는안테나를구현하기위해 3D 설계가가능한 Ansoft사의 HFSS (High Frequency Structural Simulator)[25] 를이용하여 766

3 최적의임피던스특성변화및최적의방사특성을설계하였다. 그림 2는제안된안테나에서급전선로와접지면사이갭의길이변화에따른시뮬레이션반사손실특성을나타내었다. 그림에서보는바와같이갭의길이를 0.5 mm에서 0.9 mm까지변화시켰을때제안된안테나의반사손실특성이 WLAN 주파수대역에영향을끼치고있음을확인하였다. 갭의길이를 0.5 mm에서 0.9 mm 로변함에따라 2.4 GHz 대역에서는반사손실특성이개선됨을확인하였다. 그림 4. 제안된안테나에서접지면슬롯의영향 Fig. 4 Effect of the ground plane slot of proposed antenna 그림 2. 제안된안테나에서급전선과접지면사이의갭영향 Fig. 2 Effect of gap between feed line and ground plane of the proposed antenna 그림 3. 제안된안테나에서원호모양선로 2 와접지면사이길이영향 Fig. 3 Effect of the length between arc-shaped strip 2 and ground plane of the proposed antenna 갭의길이를 0.9 mm일때가장좋은반사손실특성을갖지만 5 GHz 대역에서의시뮬레이션반사손실결과 -10dB을기준으로대역이 GHz의결과를얻었으며이러한결과는 WLAN 대역에서요구하는대역 ( GHz, GHz) 을벗어났음을확인하였다. 따라서갭의최적화된길이는 0.7 mm 로설정하였다. 그림 3는제안된안테나에서원호모양선로 2와접지면사이길이영향에따른시뮬레이션반사손실특성을나타내었다. 그림에서보는바와같이 L3의길이를 0.5 mm에서 2.9 mm로변화시켰을때제안된안테나의반사손실특성이 WLAN 주파수대역에영향을끼치고있음을확인하였다. L3의길이를 1.5 mm에서 2.9 mm로변화시켰을때 2.4 GHz 대역에서는시뮬레이션반사손실특성이변하지않았으며 5 GHz 대역에서는일정정도변화가있었다. 이러한결과로부터제안된안테나에서원호모양선로 2의길이는 5 GHz 대역의공진주파수및대역폭에영향을끼치는것으로판단된다. 또한 L3의길이가 0.5 mm일경우시뮬레이션반사손실특성이 WLAN 두개의주파수대역에서모두열화되는결과를얻었다. 이러한결과는원호모양선로 2와접지면이매우가까워지므로시제안된안테나의반사손실특성이열화되는것으로판단된다. 그림 4는제안된안테나에서원호모양선로 1 길이영향에따른시뮬레이션반사손실특성을나타내었다. L2와 L3의길이변화는결국원호모양선로 1 길이변화 767

4 라고볼수있다. L2+L3의길이를 13.0 mm에서 15.0 mm로변화시켰을때제안된안테나의반사손실특성은주로 2.4 GHz 대역에서변화하고있음을확인하였다. 이러한결과로부터제안된안테나에서원호모양선로 1의길이는 2.4 GHz 대역의공진주파수및대역폭에영향을끼치는것으로판단된다. 전류밀도에서처럼분포형태는다르지만급전라인에서강한전류밀도가분포하고있는것을확인하였다. 따라서 5.46 GHz의대역에서의동작은주로원호모양의스트립 2에의해영양을받는것으로판단된다. 위에서언급한시뮬레이션결과로부터제안된안테나의최적화된수치는 [ 표 1] 에나타내었다. 표 1. 제안된안테나의최적화된파라미터값들 Table. 1 Optimized parameters of value for proposed antenna parameter value[mm] parameter value[mm] R W R2 9.0 W L W3 2.0 L W4 2.0 L Wd 6.0 L h 1.0 Ld 2.0 그림 5. 제안된안테나의전류밀도 (a) 2.68 GHz; (b) 5.46 GHz Fig. 5 The current density of proposed antenna (a) 2.68 GHz; (b) 5.46 GHz 제안된안테나의동작원리를확인하기위해전류분포를그림 5에나타내었다. 긴원호모양의선로 1과짧은모양의원호선로 2에의존하는 2개의공진주파수 2.68 GHz와 5.46 GHz을확인하는데 HFSS 시뮬레이터를사용하였다. 예상대로 2.68 GHz 그리고 5.46 GHz에서다른표면전류가나타나는것을알수가있다. 그림 5(a) 은제안된안테나첫번째공진주파수인 2.68 GHz 에서의전류분포이며그림 5(b) 는두번째공진주파수인 5.46 GHz 에서의전류분포이다. 그림 5(a) 에서보는바와같이공진주파수가 2.68 GHz일경우긴원호모양의스트립 1의끝단에상대적으로강한전류밀도가존재하고있음을알수있다. 더불어급전라인을따라강한전류밀도가분포하고있는것을확인하였다. 따라서 2.4 GHz의대역의공진은주로원형링과급전라인에의해영향을받는것으로판단된다. 그림 5(b) 에서보는바와같이공진주파수가 5.46 GHz 일경우짧은원호모양의스트립 2의끝단에상대적으로강한전류밀도가존재하고있음을알수있다. 더불어 5.46GHz의 얻어진최적화된파라미터를사용하여 =4.4, h=1.0mm인 FR-4기판으로안테나를제작하였다. Ⅲ. 제작및측정 제안된최적화수치를사용하여제안된안테나를제작하고측정하였다. 그림 6은실제최적화된수치로제작된안테나이다. (a) 그림 6. 제작된안테나 (a) 앞면 ; (b) 뒷면 Fig. 6 Fabricated of propose antenna (a) Top; (b) Bottom 제작된안테나는신라대학교공과대학공동기기실내에있는회로망분석기 (Network Analyzer, Anritsu MS4623B) 를이용하여반사손실을측정하였으며방사패턴은무반사실에서측정하였다. 그림 7는제안된안테나의반사손실에대한시뮬레이션결과와실제제작 (b) 768

5 후측정한결과를비교하여나타내었다. 그림에서알수있듯이시뮬레이션결과와측정결과가어느정도의오차가있으나두결과가비슷한경향을보이고있음을확인할수있다. 즉, 측정결과는전제적으로시뮬레이션결과에비해왼쪽으로이동해있음을확인하였다. 이러한오차는기판의유전율오차와시뮬레이션상에존재하지않는입력포트에의한영향때문인것으로판단된다. 또한특히그림 5(b) 에서확인할수있듯이 5.46 GHz 주파수에서의전류분포를보면짧은원호모양의선로 2의끝단과접지면에강한전류분포가발생하고있음을확인할수있다. 이러한원인은짧은원호모양의선로 2와접지면이상대적으로근접해있어결합현상이발생하는것으로판단할수있으며결국 5GHz 대역의대역폭이확대되고전체적으로측정결과가왼쪽으로이동하게된것으로판단된다. 측정결과 2.4/2.5 GHz 대역에서 -10dB을기준으로 1,160 MHz( GHz) 의대역폭을얻었으며 5 GHz 대역에서는 -10dB을기준으로 930 MHz( GHz) 의대역폭을얻어 WLAN 대역에서요구하는대역폭 ( GHz, GHz) 을만족하고있음을확인하였다. 5.7 GHz 주파수에서방사패턴을표시하였다. 제안된안테나의방사패턴은 2.4 GHz에서전형적인 H-면의전방향성특성과 E-면에의 8자형태패턴을얻었다. 그러나 5 GHz 대역에서는전형적인 H-면과 E-면패턴을얻지못했다. 이와같은원인은전류밀도분포에서알수있듯이원호모양의선로 2에의한방사특성이접지면영향으로인해열화되고있음을확인할수있다. 그림 GHz 에서 E 면, H- 면 Fig. 8 E-plane and H-plane radiation pattern of 2.5 GHz 그림 7. 제안된안테나의시뮬레이션결과와측정된반사손실 Fig. 7 The measured return loss and simulation results of proposed antenna 그림 8, 9, 그리고 10은제작된안테나의측정된방사패턴을나타내고있다. 그림 8은 2.44 GHz 주파수에서방사패턴을나타낸것이며그림 9은 5.3 GHz 주파수에서의방사패턴을나타낸것이며그리고그림 10는 그림 GHz 에서 E- 면, H- 면 Fig. 9 E-plane and H-plane radiation pattern of 5.3 GHz 769

6 Ⅳ. 결론 그림 GHz 에서 E- 면, H- 면 Fig. 10 E-plane and H-plane radiation pattern of 5.7 GHz 본논문에서는 WLAN 시스템에적용가능한원호모양의이중대역안테나를설계, 제작및측정하였다. 제안된안테나는 CPW 급전을바탕으로원호모양을갖도록하였으며두개의공진주파수를갖도록선로를분기하여설계하였다. 최적화된설계값을얻기위해시뮬레이션을진행하였으며제안된안테나의동작원리를확인하기위해전류분포를나타내었다. 최적화된수치를사용하여제안된안테나를제작하였으며측정결과, -10dB을기준으로각각 1,160 MHz( GHz) 그리고 930 MHz( GHz) 의결과를얻어 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN 대역의대역폭을만족하였다. 또한전방향성의방사패턴과 2D 이득을얻었다. REFERENCES 그림 11. 제안된안테나의최대이득과평균이득 Fig. 11 Measured peak and average gain of the proposed antenna 그림 11은 WLAN 각주파수대역에서의최대이득과평균이득을나타내고있다. 그림 13에서볼수있듯이 2.4 GHz대역에서최대이득은 dbi 그리고평균이득은 dbi로값을얻었다. 특히최대이득은 2.7 GHz에서 3.00dBi값을얻었다. 한편 5 GHz 대역에서최대이득은 dbi 그리고평균이득은 dbi로값을얻었다.
