1 Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society Vol. 18, No. 4 pp , ISSN / eissn 태양광발전의운용효율향상을위한 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터의구현및특성분석 김찬혁, 최성식, 강민관, 정영문, 노대석 * 한국기술교육대학교전기전자통신공학부 Implementation and Characteristic Analysis of DC/DC Voltage Regulator for Operation Efficiency Improvement in PV system Chanhyeok Kim, Sungsik Choi, Minkwan Kang, Youngmun Jung, Daeseok Rho * Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Korea University of Technology & Education 요약최근, 전세계적으로신 재생에너지에대한관심이증가됨에따라친환경적이고무한한태양에너지를이용하는태양광발전의설치가매년급증하고있다. 그러나, 태양광발전시스템은일반적으로태양광전지에서발생한에너지로부터전력변환장치 (DC/AC) 를거쳐계통연계지점까지약 25[%] 의전력손실을발생시키고있다. 이전력손실가운데, 일부태양광모듈에음영이나환경변화 ( 일사량, 온도, 습도등 ) 로인해스트링의출력전압이인버터의동작전압보다낮아지면해당스트링이동작하지않아전체의발전효율이감소하거나, 최악의경우인버터가탈락되어계통의출력전력이저하되는등의손실이큰부분을차지하고있다. 따라서, 본논문에서는상기의문제점을개선하기위하여, 각각의스트링별로 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터를도입하여환경변화에따른전압저하로발생하는스트링의탈락을방지하는제어방식을제시하였고, 기존인버터의 MPPT(P&O) 제어와정전압제어기능을전압레귤레이터에서수행하는방식을채택하였다. 또한, 제안한알고리즘을바탕으로 2kW급의전압레귤레이터를구현하여기존의운용방식과비교, 분석한결과, 환경변화에따른다양한시나리오에서제안한운용방식의운용효율이크게향상됨을확인하였다. Abstract Recently, the installation of photovoltaic(pv) systems has been increasing due to the worldwide interest in eco-friendly and abundant solar energy. On the other hand, a PV system has approximately 25% power loss while the energy generated from solar cells is transformed to the power coupling point through a power conversion system (DC/AC). If the output voltage of a string in the PV system is lower than the operating range of the inverter when a part of module in the string has a shadow due to weather conditions, the string is not synchronized and the whole of output power in a PV system may be reduced significantly. Therefore, to overcome this problem, this paper proposes a novel control method to compensate for the lower voltage by introducing a DC/DC voltage regulator for each string in a PV system, which adopts a concept for MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) control function using the P&O algorithm and adopts constant voltage control method used in an existing inverter. This paper also implements a 2kW DC/DC voltage regulator based on the proposed algorithm and performs a variety of scenario-based experiments. From the simulation result, it was confirmed that the operation in the proposed method is improved compared to the existing method. 2 한국산학기술학회논문지제 18 권제 4 호, 서론 오늘날지속적인에너지수요증가와화석연료사용에따른환경오염으로인한지구온난화를예방하기위해신재생에너지전원을이용한발전시설의보급이확대하고있다. 그중에서태양광발전은친환경적이면서고갈될염려가없고유지보수가용이하여잠재적가치가큰에너지로평가받고있다.[1] 그러나태양광에너지는기존의화석연료에비해초기투자비와발전단가가높아태양광발전시스템의비용을낮추는것보다운용상의손실요소를개선하여발전효율을높이는것이더욱경제적이다. 국내태양광발전시스템의효율분석에따르면, 모듈의오손 온도 음영, 전압불일치에따라 23.5[%] 정도의손실이발생되고있다.[2] 이전력손실가운데, 일부태양광모듈에음영이나환경변화 ( 일사량, 온도등 ) 로인해스트링의출력전압이인버터의동작전압보다낮아지면해당스트링이동작하지않아전체의발전효율이감소하거나, 최악의경우인버터가탈락되어계통의출력전력이저하되는등의손실이큰부분을차지하고있다. 따라서, 본논문에서는상기의문제점을개선하기위하여, 각각의스트링별로 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터를설치하여환경변화에따른전압저하로인한스트링의탈락을방지하도록하며, 기존인버터 MPPT제어와정전압제어기능을전압레귤레이터에서수행하도록구현하였다. 또한, 이를바탕으로시나리오별특성시험을수행한결과, 기존의방식보다운용효율이향상됨을확인하였다. 2. 기존의운용방식의문제점분석 2.1 중앙집중형방식중앙집중형방식은그림 1과같이태양광모듈이직렬로구성된스트링과중앙에설치된구성되어있다. 따라서, 구조가간단하고단위용량당발전시스템의단가가저렴한편이다. 하지만, 중앙에설치된하나의인버터가태양광스트링전체의 MPPT 제어를수행하기때문에, 태양광모듈의부정합문제나부분음영과같은주변환경에의해정상적으로동작하지않는스트링으로인하여많은손실이발생할수있다. Fig. 1. Central inverter system 2.2 스트링형방식스트링형방식은그림 2와같이태양광모듈이직렬로구성된스트링마다인버터를적용하는방식이다. 따라서태양광모듈의부정합문제나부분음영과같은주변환경에의해정상적으로동작하지않는스트링도개별인버터의출력제어에의하여손실을저감시킬수있다. 하지만인버터의개수가증가하여투자비나유지비용이상승할수있다. Fig. 2. DC/DC 전압레귤레이터의제어알고리즘 3.1 MPPT 제어 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터의 MPPT 제어알고리즘은간단한피드백구조와소수의측정파라미터를가지고있기때문에 P&O(Perturb and Observe) 제어방식이널리사용되고있다. 이제어방식은그림 3과같이기준전압 ( ) 에전압변동분을가감하고, 이전전력값과현재전력값을비교함으로써최대전력출력점을추종한다 [3-4]. 그림 3에서,, 는각각현재의스트링전압, 전류, 전력을의미하며, 는측정시간간격을나타낸다. 202

P&O algorithm for MPPT control 3.2 정전압제어태양광모듈일부에음영이발생하여해당스트링의전압이인버터의동작전압범위미만으로감소하게되면, 역전압다이오드에의하여해당스트링이인버터에서탈락되어, 태양광전원전체적인운용효율이저하하게된다. 따라서, 본논문에서는상기와같은문제점을해결하기위하여 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터의정전압제어를제안한다. 이전압제어방식은태양광스트링의입력전압에대하여목표로하는출력전압을유지시키는것을의미하는데, 현재출력전압과목표전압과의오차에대한 PI제어를수행함으로써원하는출력전압을달성한다. 최종적으로제어회로에서출력된신호를삼각파와비교하여정전압출력을위한듀티비를계산하여, FET 소자에출력된제어신호를인가한다. 구체적인제어알고리즘은다음과같다.[5] [STEP 1] 목표로하는전압레귤레이터의출력전압 ( ) 을설정하고, 그값과현재출력전압 ( ) 을비교하여오차분이허용범위이내이면, 정전압제어가정상적으로이루어진다고판단하여기존의듀티비 (Duty ratio) 를유지한다. [STEP 2] [STEP 1] 에서오차분이허용범위를벗어나면, 오차분에대한 PI 제어를수행한다. 여기서, 목표전압과전압레귤레이터의출력전압사이의오차분은식 (1) 과같고, 오차 [STEP 3] [STEP 2] 에서출력된신호는삼각파와비교되어듀티비가결정되고, MOSFET 소자에인가되어전압레귤레이터의출력전압이결정된다. 상기의알고리즘을플로우차트로나타내면그림 4와같다. DC/DC 전압레귤레이터구현 4.1 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터의구성구름또는건물로인하여일부태양광모듈에음영이발생하여도태양광발전전체운용효율이저하되는문제점을해결하기위하여, 스트링별로 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터를도입하여 MPPT 제어와정전압제어기능을수행할수있도록하며, 계통연계인버터는조류의방향만결정하도록그림 5과같이구성하였다 [6-9]. 203

4 한국산학기술학회논문지제 18 권제 4 호, 2017 입력받아, 3상 380[V] 의 AC로변환하여전력계통과연계되도록구현하였다. 또한, 일사량이나태양광모듈의탈락등으로인해입력되는전압및전류가변동되더라도인버터는 PLL 제어를통해계통의위상을추정하도록하였다. 상기에서제시한 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터 (MPPT 제어, 정전압제어 ) 와 3상계통연계형인버터 (PLL 제어 ) 를포함한고효율태양광발전시스템을나타내면그림 8과같다. Fig. 5. DC/DC voltage regulator Configuration 4.2 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터의구현 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터는그림 6과같이전력보드 (power board) 와제어보드 (control board) 로구성하였다. Power board는브리지다이오드와콘덴서를이용하여전압부스팅을수행하고, 또한출력전압및전류의리플을저감시킨다 [10-12]. Control board는상기에서제안한 MPPT 제어와정전압제어알고리즘을 DSP (digital signal processor) 에의하여구현하였다. 여기서, 정전압제어방식은태양광스트링의입력전압에대하여목표로하는출력전압을유지시키는것으로현재출력전압과목표전압과의오차에대한 PI제어를수행함으로써원하는출력전압을구한다. 또한출력전압이일정범위를초과하면, 전압레귤레이터의동작을차단하는출력과전압보호기능을제시하였다. Board Configuration of DC/C voltage regulator DC/DC 전압레귤레이터의전력스위칭소자는그림 7과같이, 소형화및고효율에적합한 FET를사용하였다. 스트링별전압레귤레이터의 DC 입력전압범위는경년열화및환경조건 ( 일사량, 온도, 습도 ) 등에따라 [V] 로설정하였고, 출력전압은 AC 380[V] 를공급하기위하여 DC 700[V] 으로설정하였다. 계통연계형인버터는전압레귤레이터의 DC 700[V] 의전압을 4. 특성시험및분석 4.1 시험조건기존의운용방식과제안한운용방식의태양광발전의운용효율을비교, 분석하기위하여그림 9과같이테스트베드를구축하였다. 태양광스트링은정격출력 250[W] 급모률 8개를직렬로연결하여 2[kW] 급으로구성하였으며, 이스트링 2개를병렬로연결하여 4[kW] 급태양광전원시스템을구성하였다. 204

5 태양광발전의운용효율향상을위한 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터의구현및특성분석 출력은 1,842[W] 이고, 모듈의 1/3 부분 ( 셀 20개 ) 에음영을발생시키면 2번스트링의출력은 1,842[W] 에서 1,755[W] 로감소하였다. 또한, 모듈 1개 ( 셀 60개 ) 에음영이발생하는경우, 2번스트링출력은 1,842[W] 에서 0[W] 로감소하였고, 전체인버터출력은 3,685[W] 에서 1,842[W] 로감소하였다. Test Bed of photovoltaic system according to control methods (a) Output characteristic of each string in photovoltaic system 한편, 태양광스트링중에서일부모듈의경년열화, 환경조건 ( 일사량, 온도, 습도 ) 등으로인하여태양광인버터가동작하지못하는현상을모의하기위해, 본논문에서는 1번스트링에차단막이 ( 폼보드 ) 를사용하여음영효과를시뮬레이션하였다. 즉, 모듈을일부분만음영 ( 셀 20개 ) 을발생시키거나또는모듈전체의음영을그림10 과같이발생시켰다. Shading Experiment condition of the Photovoltaic modules 4.2 기존의방식에대한태양광발전출력특성그림 9 (a) 의 2번스트링의모듈에부분적인음영 ( 셀 20개씩 ) 을단계적으로발생시킨경우, 기존의태양광발전운용방식의출력특성을분석하면그림 11과같다. 음영이전혀없는경우에는 2 번스트링에대한인버터의 즉, 기존태양광발전운용방식에서는부분적인음영이발생하기시작하면태양광발전의출력효율이저하되기시작되고, 태양광모듈 1개 ( 셀 60개 ) 이상에서음영이발생하면스트링전체의출력이 0[W] 가됨을확인하였다. 이것은스트링의부분적인음영이발생하더라도스트링의전압이 3상계통연계형인버터의동작전압범위미만으로되어스트링이인버터에서탈락되기때문이다. 따라서, 기존의제어방식은운용효율측면에서개선의여지가있음을알수있었다. 4.3 제안한방식에대한태양광발전출력특성그림 9 (b) 의 2번스트링의모듈에부분적인음영 ( 셀 20개씩 ) 을단계적으로발생시킨경우, 제안한태양광발 205

6 한국산학기술학회논문지제 18 권제 4 호, 2017 전운용방식의출력특성을분석하면그림 12와같다. 음영이전혀없는경우에는 2번스트링에대한인버터출력은 1,843[W] 이고, 모듈의 1/3 부분 ( 셀 20개 ) 에음영이발생시키면 2번스트링의출력은 1,843[W] 에서 1,769[W] 로감소하였다. 또한, 모듈 1개 ( 셀 60개 ) 에음영이발생하는경우, 2번스트링출력은 1,843[W] 에서 1,614[W] 로감소하였고, 전체인버터출력은 3,686[W] 에서 3,225[W] 로감소하였다. (a) Output characteristic of each string in photovoltaic system 4.4 운용효율측면에서의분석기존의운용방식과제안한운용방식에의한태양광발전의운용효율특성을비교하기위하여, 음영이발생된모듈의개수를파라메타로하여, 태양광발전의출력특성을분석하면표 1과같다. Output characteristic of photovoltaic system by proposed method 즉, 제안한태양광발전운용방식에서는음영이발생한모듈의출력만큼만스트링의출력이감소됨을알수있었다. 이것은스트링별 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터의 MPPT 제어와정전압제어에의하여, 해당스트링이 3 상계통연계인버터에서탈락되지않기때문이다. 따라서, 1개모듈전체 ( 셀 60개 ) 에음영이발생한경우, 기존의운용방식에서는 1,842[W] 에서 0[W] 로감소하였지만, 제안한방식에서는 1,843[W] 에서 1,614[W] 정도로감소하여, 제안한태양광발전운용방식의유효성을확인하였다. 표 1와같이, 태양광모듈 1개 ( 셀 60개 ) 에음영이발생한경우, 기존의운용방식에서는음영이발생하지않는경우에대하여스트링의운용효율이 0[%] 로감소하지만, 제안한운용방식에서는스트링의운용효율이 12.4[%] 정도만이감소하였다. 또한, 태양광모듈 2개 ( 셀 120개 ) 에음영이발생한경우, 기존의운용방식에서는태양광모듈 1개에음영이발생한경우와동일하지만, 제안한운용방식에서는스트링의운용효율이 25[%] 정도가감소하였다. 따라서, 제안한태양광발전운용방식이기존의운용방식에비해, 상당한폭으로운용효율이개선됨을알수있었다. 5. 결론태양광발전은환경변화 ( 일사량, 온도등 ) 나일부태양 206

7 태양광발전의운용효율향상을위한 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터의구현및특성분석 광모듈에음영이발생하면, 전체운용효율이저하되는문제점이발생할수있다. 따라서, 논문에서는이러한문제점을해결하기위해서, 기존인버터에스트링별로 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터를도입하는방안을제안하였으며, 이에대한주요연구결과를요약하면다음과같다. (1) 기존의태양광발전에서는어느모듈에음영이발생하면, 해당스트링의전압이인버터의동작전압범위미만으로낮아져해당스트링이탈락되므로태양광발전운용효율이상당한폭으로감소함을확인하였다. (2) 기존의태양광발전운용방식의문제점을개선하기위해스트링별로 DC/DC 전압레귤레이터를도입하여환경변화에따른전압저하로발생하는스트링의탈락을방지하는운용방식을제시하였고, 기존인버터의 MPPT 제어와정전압제어기능을전압레귤레이터에서수행하도록구현하였다. (3) 기존의운용방식에서는어느모듈의음영발생으로인해해당스트링이탈락되지만, 제안한방식에서는전압레귤레이터에의해해당스트링이탈락되지않고음영이발생한모듈의출력만큼만스트링의출력이감소되므로기존운용방식에비하여태양광발전의운용효율이상당한폭으로개선됨을확인하였다.
