Study on Wood art in Tongyoung Sudo Mamoru' PARK Hyun kuk*2 Tongyoung is the most famous of the Korean traditional woodenware, furniture, small dining tables, woodenware technology, and lacquer ware inlaid with mother-of-pearl. This field survey is to look into the intangible cultural properties that have been handed down in Tongyoung, and to inquire the formation and transmission types. In the Choson Dynasty period, the navy headquarter was located in Tongyoung. Twelve workshops supplied soldiers with the various materials during war. These workshops were established in Tongyoung. The war supplies which were produced from twelve workshops, supplied each army and the remaining materials were sold to civilians. Then, the operation of twelve workshops were reduced or closed up, but the technology has been passed on to civilians and has continued to pass on the technology till this day. These intangible cultural properties are recognized as the unique cultural property in their skill, characteristics, content and organization. However, these have been existing, maintaining the complementary relationship.
