P A T R I C K C H U R C H Back To School Supplies The local schools have already begun to prepare for the upcoming school year and are in need of supplies, especially computer accessories and earbuds. Since the schools can order items in bulk at a discounted price, the Social Justice Committee will be accepting monetary donations throughout the month of July to help with these purchases. If you would like to donate to help the schools, checks can be made out to St. Patrick's with School Supplies written in the memo line. Thank you in advance for your support of the students. Next NCYC Fundraiser : We are looking for volunteers to help serve food at the upcoming Noon Lions Chicken Barbecue on July 18th. Please contact Ann Kunst (641-231-1696) to volunteer. Shifts are: 10:30-11:30,11:30-12:30; 12:30-1:30. The Noon Lions will donate a portion of their profits towards paying for our trip. NCYC stands for National Catholic Youth Conference. We have a group of 30 planning to attend the conference in November in Indianapolis, IN. It means that you can have some time alone with Jesus to recite your favorite prayers in silence, read the bible, pray a rosary or chaplet or do whatever type of prayerful devotion that suits you before Our Lord. You can just sit and say nothing simply keeping Him company, just as you would with a dear friend. You can offer Him your petitions, concerns, troubles, joys, gratitude, disappointments, needs and aspirations. Adoration will be held at St Patrick on July 12th (the second Monday of each month) from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. You are welcome to drop in for a few minutes or an hour; whatever fits your schedule. Catholic Sisters from 24 congregations in four states have launched a yearlong, live-streamed conversation series on social justice issues. Titled Exploring Intersections: Catholic Sisters on Racism, Migration and Climate, the series focuses on a different social issue in a thought-provoking and engaging conversation each month. The July episode focuses on human trafficking and will air live on Zoom at 3 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, July 14. Three panelists, including a Catholic Sister, will offer avenues of action along with powerful personal experiences in unlocking the chains of human trafficking. Natural Family Planning (NFP) Virtual Summit Sunday, July 25, 2021 In order to celebrate Natural Family Planning (NFP) Awareness Week, which is July 25th-31st, the Archdiocese of Dubuque will host a NFP Virtual Summit to help people learn about what NFP is and why it is beneficial. This virtual event will include a keynote talk by Archbishop Jackels, breakout session talks by local experts and married couples, opportunities to network and ask questions, and more.
