ALC has low strength and brittleness on account of inner pores. The studies for resolving these problems were driven by many researchers. Among these researches, the controls of quartzite fineness have been studied for unsuitable properties of ALC. This study experimented with variation of 90 µm residue for obtain good physical properties. It was found that 90 µm residue influenced on physical properties of ALC. The lower amount of 90 µm residue, the higher compressive and bending strength. But the continuing decrease of 90 µm residue did not cause the increase of strength. In order to application of these results in process, the states of process and hydrothermal products will be considered. Key words : ALC, Fineness, Quartzite, Strength, Hydrothermal reaction 1. Unreactive quartzite in ALC ( 5000). 와 같이 미반응 입자들로 존재하였다. 즉 수열합성 반응 을 향상시키기 위해서는 규석 입자의 적절한 미분화가 필 수적이며, 본 연구에서는 규석의 90 µm 잔사수준을 2.5% 전후로 선정할 수 있었다. 결정구조 분석 Fig. 6은 규석의 분쇄 시간에 따른 XRD 패턴을 나타낸 것이다. 0분부터 25분까지 일정 간격으로 분쇄한 규석을 출발 원료로 한 ALC의 XRD 패턴 분석을 통해 토버모라 이트의 형성 및 다른 결정상 존재여부를 파악해 보았다. XRD 측정을 통해 토버모라이트 형성정도를 상호 비교해 본 결과, 시험편 모두 동일한 토버모라이트와 쿼츠 피크 가 형성되었음을 알 수 있었으며, 이외 다른 결정상들은 크게 관찰할 수 없었다. 또한 분쇄시간이 증가와 함께 XRD 강도 또한 증가하는 경향을 확인할 수 있다. 약 26.5 도에서 발생하는 쿼츠 피크와 약 29.5도에서 발생하는 토 버모라이트 피크의 강도를 비교하여 Table 4에 나타내었 다. Table 4에서와 같이 분쇄시간의 증가에 따라 토버모 라이트 피크와 쿼츠 피크 모두 증가함을 확인할 수 있었 다. 토버모라이트 피크의 강도 증가는 규석의 미분말화에 따라 수열합성반응이 증진되기 때문이다. 또한 쿼츠 피크 3.5. 미세구조 규석의 분쇄시간에 따른 미세구조 관찰을 위해 주사전 자현미경을 사용하였으며, 관찰사진을 Fig. 4에 나타내었 다. 최초 입수상태의 규석을 사용하였을 경우, 수열합성 생성물인 토버모라이트 결정이 양호하지 못한 상태로 생 성되었으나, 분쇄시간이 증가할수록 결정형상이 변화하여 육각판상 모양의 토버모라이트 결정으로 변화함을 확인 할 수 있었다. 특히 분쇄시간 20분 조건에서는 토버모라 이트 결정이 완전하게 생성되었음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 20분 이후 조건에서도 20분과 동일한 결정이 생성됨을 관 찰할 수 있었다. 즉 분쇄시간의 증가에 따라 토버모라이 트 결정생성이 양호해지나, 일정 잔사 수준 이하에서는 더 이상의 결정변화가 관찰되지 않았다. 또한 초기 미분 쇄 상태로 수열합성된 ALC 내부의 규석들은 Fig. 5에서 3.4. 한국세라믹학회지
