Welcome Message We are honored to invite you to the 3rd Korea-Africa Forum. In recent years, Africa has recorded a high growth rate over the average rate of the world economy. With its limitless potential and scope for development, Africa is emerging as the last growth engine of the global economy. Given the dynamic changes taking place and great opportunity in Africa, the Republic of Korea is making an effort to realize the vision of Global Korea through deepening the ties of friendship and substantial cooperation with Africa, whilst also sharing its development experience and tackling global issues together. As a part of these efforts, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea is co-hosting the Korea-Africa Forum with the African Union (AU) and the Third Forum is held in Seoul, on 17 October, 2012. Fifteen African foreign ministers, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, and a panel of experts are invited to this Forum and seek to explore ways for further cooperation in the areas of development cooperation, trade, investment, peace and security as well as strengthening the Korea-Africa partnership. I believe that this Forum represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation with Africa, and I would deeply appreciate your kind interest and support for the successful holding of this event. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Kim Sung-Hwan http: // forum.mofat.go.kr 05
