1 논문 한국통신학회논문지 '08-03 Vol. 33 No. 3 시간영역파일럿분할을통한 T-DMB 중계기에서의궤환신호제거기법 준회원이지봉 *, 김완진 *, 정회원박성익 **, 이용태 **, 종신회원김형남 * Feedback Cancellation Based on Partitioned Time-Domain Pilots for T-DMB Repeaters Ji-Bong Lee*, Wan-Jin Kim* Associate Members, Sung Ik Park**, Yong Tae Lee** Regular Members, Hyoung-Nam Kim* Lifelong Member 요 약 동일채널중계기에서는송 수신신호간의간섭으로인해중계기의출력이제한되는문제점이있다. 이러한문제를해결하기위해중계기에서수신신호를복조하여궤환채널을추정하고궤환신호를제거하는방법이제시되었으나, T-DMB 시스템과같이파일럿간격이넓은시스템에복조형궤환신호제거방법을적용할경우궤환채널추정속도가느리다는단점이있다. 이를극복하기위해본논문에서는시간영역의파일럿을여러개의서브그룹으로분할하여궤환채널을추정함으로써적응필터의갱신횟수를증가시킬수있는방법을제안한다. 제안된방법은궤환채널추정속도를개선하여궁극적으로궤환신호제거성능을향상시킨다. 모의실험을통해제안된방법이기존방법에비해궤환채널추정속도와잔류궤환신호전력 (RFP) 측면에서우수함을보인다. Key Words : T-DMB, DAB, OCR, Repeater, ICS ABSTRACT Conventional on-channel-repeaters (OCRs) have a crucial problem that the power of a re-transmitted signal is highly limited by a feedback signal due to antenna coupling. The power limitation problem in OCRs has been solved by incorporating a demodulation-type feedback canceller which eliminates unwanted feedback signals by estimating a feedback channel. In applying the demodulation-type feedback canceller to T-DMB repeaters, there is a troublesome problem of unfrequent known pilot symbols, resulting in poor convergence performance of channel estimation. To solve this problem and enhance the accuracy of estimation, we propose a partitioning method of the Phase Reference Symbol (PRS) transformed in time domain. Since filter coefficients are updated every one partitioned subgroup, the number of updates is increased by the number of partitioned subgroups and thus the convergence speed is enhanced. The improved performance of feedback-channel estimation is directly connected with the feedback-cancellation performance. Simulation result shows that the feedback canceller incorporating the proposed partitioning method has a good performance in terms of residual feedback power. 이논문은정보통신부및정보통신연구진흥원의 IT 신성장동력핵심기술개발사업의일환으로수행되었음. 2 한국통신학회논문지 '08-03 Vol. 33 No. 3 Ⅰ. 서론최근지상파 Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) 서비스지역이확대됨에따라, 서비스품질유지를위한서비스영역의확장이요구되고있다. 이러한요구에대처하기위해고려될수있는방법은크게두가지로나누어볼수있는데, 첫번째는주송신기에서전송신호의전력을증가시키는방법이고, 두번째는보조국이나중계기등을설치하는방법이다. 주송신기의송신전력을증가시키는방법의경우, 여타기기와의간섭을피하기위해그출력이법적으로엄격히제한되므로 [1], 중계기를통한서비스영역확장이현실적인방법으로고려되고있다. 그러나기존에사용되던주파수변환형중계기의경우중계기수신신호의주파수를변환하여송신함에따라중계기수가증가할경우중계기간의복잡한주파수배분문제와이에따른경제적비용증가문제가발생한다. 이에반해동일한송 수신주파수를사용하는동일채널중계기 (on-channel repeater; OCR) 는주파수변환형중계기에비해전송파워조절과주파수배분측면에서장점을가지고있다 [2]. 그러나 OCR을사용하는경우에는안테나커플링으로인해송신신호가중계기로궤환되어송신전력을증가시키면시스템이발진할가능성이있다. 이러한발진문제는 OCR 사용을위해반드시해결되어야할문제이며, 이와관련된다양한연구가수행되었다 [2]-[6]. 궤환신호제거기는궤환채널추정에사용되는기준신호에따라크게 intermediate-frequency (IF) 형과복조형으로나누어지며, IF 형은중계기의출력을, 복조형은주송신신호에포함되어있는파일럿신호를사용한다 [4],[5]. IF 형은전송신호의변조형태에관계없이사용가능하며수신신호의복조과정이필요없어구조가간단하다는장점이있으나, 궤환채널추정을위한기준신호로신호순도 (signal purity) 가낮은중계기의출력을사용해채널추정의정확도가낮고이로인해궤환신호제거성능이우수하지못한단점이있다. 이에반해, 복조형은궤환신호제거에필요한기준신호를얻기위해전송신호를복조하므로하드웨어구조가복잡하고전송신호복조과정에서시스템지연이발생하는문제점이있으나, 전송신호에포함된파일럿을이용한채널추정이가능하므로채널추정의정확도가높고, 우수한궤환신호제거성능을가진다. T-DMB 서비스를위한중계기에서의궤환신호제거방법은 시스템요구에따라선택적으로사용될수있으나, 본논문에서는재전송신호의잔류궤환신호전력 (residual feedback power; RFP) 을최소화하는데초점을맞추어복조형궤환신호제거기만을고려하기로한다. 기존복조형궤환신호제거기를 T-DMB 중계기에실제로적용하기위해서는 T-DMB의송신프레임구조를살펴볼필요가있다. T-DMB 시스템은매 96 ms마다하나의프레임이전송되는데, 각프레임의첫번째심볼로서 DQPSK (Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) 복조를위해 PRS (Phase Reference Symbol) 가삽입되며이는채널추정을위한파일럿으로사용될수있다. 그러나이러한 PRS를제외하면다른파일럿이존재하지않기때문에, 채널추정을위한탭계수갱신이매프레임의첫번째심볼구간에서만이루어지게되어채널추정속도가떨어지고이는바로궤환신호제거성능저하와관련이된다. 본논문에서는이러한문제를해결하기위하여시간영역으로변환한 PRS 신호를여러개의서브그룹으로분할하여탭계수갱신횟수를증가시킴으로써궤환채널에대한추정속도를개선하고이를통해복조형궤환신호제거기의 DMB 중계기에서의적용가능성을높일수있는방법을제안한다. 본논문의구성은다음과같다. II절에서는 T-DMB 시스템에대해간단히소개하고, III절에서는 T-DMB 중계기를위한궤환신호제거기의구조와원리에대해설명한다. IV절에서는복조형궤환신호제거기의성능을향상시키기위해제안된시간영역파일럿분할기법에대해설명하고, V절에서는모의실험을통해제안된파일럿분할기법을이용한채널추정방법이 RFP 측면에서궤환신호제거성능을향상시킴을보인다. 마지막으로, VI절에서결론을맺는다. Ⅱ. T-DMB 시스템 EUREKA-147 DAB 시스템에기반한 T-DMB 시스템은전송방식과변조방식으로각각 COFDM (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 과 DQPSK를채택하고있다. 오디오뿐만아니라멀티미디어서비스를위해요구되는비트오류율을만족시키기위해부가적으로 convolutional interleaver 와 Reed-Solomon coding을채택하고있다 [8]. 복조형궤환신호제거기의성능을결정하는중요한요 328

T-DMB 시스템의파일럿구조. : PRS(pilot) : data Null symbol n = 0 n = 75 Null symbol 소인 T-DMB 시스템의파일럿구조는그림 1과같다. 그림 1 에서보듯이사용가능한파일럿은한프레임에해당하는 76 OFDM 심볼중차등변 복조를위해첫번째 OFDM 심볼로전송되는블록타입의 PRS가유일하고, 각프레임사이에는시스템동기화를위해삽입되는 ms 의 Null 심볼이존재한다. T-DMB 중계기에서궤환채널의영향을줄이기위해복조형궤환신호제거기를적용할경우, 넓은파일럿신호간격으로인해수렴속도측면에서문제가발생한다. 특히궤환채널이시간에따라변하는상황에서의느린수렴속도는중계기의궤환신호제거성능에심각한영향을미치므로, 이를해결하기위한방법이요구된다. Ⅲ. T-DMB 를위한궤환신호제거기 3.1 궤환신호제거기의기본원리 [5],[6] 동일채널중계기에서는송 수신안테나간의불완전한격리 (isolation), 지면이나인접사물에의한반사로인해원하지않는궤환신호가중계기에다시입력되는문제점이있다. 만약이러한궤환신호를제거하지못한다면, 시스템발진 (oscillation) 등으로인해중계기가정상적으로원하는신호를전송할수없게된다. 이러한동일채널중계기시스템의불안정성문제를해결하기위해서는궤환신호제거기가필수적이며, 궤환신호제거기를포함한 T-DMB 중계기의기본구조는그림 2와같다. 그림 2에서,,, 와 는각각주송신기의전송신호, 주송신기에서더해지는백색잡음, 중계기에서더해지는백색잡음, 중계기수신신호와중계기출력신호를의미하며, 와 S( N m ( ( N r R( + _ Feedback Channel ( H f X ( 그림 2. Feedback Canceller H fir ( 는궤환채널의주파수응답과궤환신호제거기에서추정된궤환채널의주파수응답을의미한다. 그림 2에서보듯이중계기의출력신호 는궤환채널 를통과하여중계기의수신안테나를통해다시중계기로입력되며, 궤환신호제거기에서는이궤환신호를제거하기위해궤환채널을추정하여레플리카 (replica) 를생성한후이를감산한다. 만약, 와 의충격응답 (impulse response) 이동일하다면중계기의수신신호 에포함된궤환신호의영향이모두제거되므로, 중계기에서는주송신기로부터송출되어중계기수신안테나에도달한신호와동일한신호를전송할수있게된다. 이러한궤환신호제거기의동작을수식을통해설명하면다음과같다. 중계기수신신호 와중계기의출력신호 는다음과같이표현할수있으며, (1) (2) 식 (1) 과식 (2) 를이용하여주송신기의전송신호와 와중계기출력신호 의관계식을구하면다음과같다. (4) 식 (4) 를식 (3) 에대입하여다시정리하면다음식을얻을수있다. (5) 식 (5) 에서 는궤환채널의추정오차를의미하여, 궤환신호제거기의목적은추정오차값을최소화함으로써궤환채널에의한영향을줄이고자하는것이다. 3.2 적응알고리즘 III-1 절에서구한궤환채널추정오차 를최소화하기위해서다양한적응알고리즘이사용될수있으나, 본논문에서는실제시스템에서의적용성을고려하여계산량이적고구현이간단한 least-mean-square (LMS) 알고리즘을고려한다. 적응알고리즘을이용한궤환신호제거기의구조와이를포함한 T-DMB 중계기의구조는그림 3과같다. 그림 3에서보듯이간섭신호제거를위한적응필터의탭계수를구하기위해우선파일럿구간에해당하는 를복조하여 를산출하고, 를역푸리에변환 (inverse Fourier transform) 하여시간영역의궤환채널추정오차 를구한다. 여기서 과 는각각 OFDM 심볼의시간인덱스와적응필터계수의인덱스를의미한다. 구해진 를이용하여적응필터계수를갱신하는방법 식 (6) 에서스텝사이즈 는 1 이하의값이며, 는 에서궤환채널의영향이나타나는부분만을취하기위한사각윈도우함수로서다음과같이정의된다. (7) 여기서 M 은적응필터의탭수를나타낸다. 식 (5) 를이용해적응필터와궤환채널과의오차를구하고, 이를식 (6) 에적용하여적응필터의계수를갱신하는일련의과정을수행하기위해서는주송신기전송신호 에관한정보가필요하다. 주전송기와중계기사이에알려진 는사전에약속된파일럿심볼뿐이므로, 적응필터계수의갱신은파일럿심볼구간에서만가능하다. 그러나 II 절에서살펴본바와같이 T-DMB 시스템에서는사용가능한파일럿이 PRS뿐이므로, 적응필터의탭계수갱신이한프레임에해당하는매 76 OFDM 심볼마다한번만이루어진다. 이러한탭계수갱신방법은시간에따라변하는궤환채널의경우에는채널의변화를따라가지못하여정확한채널추정이어렵게된다. 이러한문제를해결하기위해본논문에서는시간영역파일럿분할기법을제안하고이를통해채널추정속도를향상시킬수있는방법을제시한다. Ⅳ. 시간영역파일럿분할기법 T-DMB 중계기에서궤환신호제거기의성능향상을위해서는적응필터의수렴속도를향상시켜궤환채널을빠르고정확하게추정할수있는방법이요구된다. 이를위해본논문에서제안하는방법은 T-DMB 시스템이 OFDM 전송기법을사용하면서블록타입의파일럿구조를가진다는점에서출발한다. 블록타입파일럿의경우한 OFDM 심볼의모든부반송파 (subcarrier) 에파일럿이삽입되므로 IFFT를통해이에해당하는시간영역파일럿신호를미리얻을수있다. 이렇게얻어진시간영역파일럿신호를서브그룹으로분할함으로써하나의 PRS에서한번의탭계수갱신만이루어지던것을 330

(, 2 l ( SG, 2 ω x(n) : Update point of adaptive filter coefficient 그림 5. 주기적전치부호를포함한 PRS 의분할예 ( 서브그룹크기 :256 포인트 ). 분할된서브그룹수만큼갱신횟수를늘릴수있다. 이는파일럿이삽입되어있는 PRS 구간에서한 OFDM 심볼에해당하는신호를모두수신하지않아도미리분할된시간영역파일럿의서브그룹에해당하는신호만수신하면각각을 FFT하여 III 절에서제시된방법과같은방식으로탭계수갱신이가능함을의미한다. 시간영역파일럿분할을통한적응필터의수렴속도향상방법은그림 4에도시되어있다. 와 는각서브그룹에해당하는주파수스펙트럼과그에대응하는재전송신호의주파수스펙트럼을의미하며, 여기서 는분할된서브그룹의인덱스를나타낸다. 그림 4에서보듯이중계기에서는알고있는신호인 PRS를역푸리에변환하여시간영역신호를얻은뒤이를몇개의서브그룹으로나누고, 각각을푸리에변환함으로써각서브그룹의주파수스펙트럼 를얻는다. PRS 구간에서각서브그룹의신호 가수신되면이에해당하는분할된파일럿 와의연산을통해궤환채널에대한추정오차를구하고, 다시적응필터의탭계수를갱신하는과정을반복한다. 파일럿분할시주목할점은보호구간 (guard interval) 에삽입되는주기적전치부호 (cyclic prefix) 의일부분을시간영역의파일럿신호로서 3 ( 3 ( 표 1. T-DMB 시스템파라미터. Parameters 1/ seconds MHz π/4-dqpsk COFDM Specifications Feedback gain 0.5 and 1.0 Feedback delay time Additive noise ( ) Adaptive filter length 0.5 μs 40 db 10 μs (21 taps) Coefficient update step size 0.2 사용할수있다는점이다. 그림 5는주기적전치부호를포함한 PRS 분할예를나타낸것으로, 각서브그룹은 256 포인트의시간영역파일럿을포함한다. 적응필터계수의갱신은각서브그룹당 1번씩수행될수있으므로, 그림 5에제시된예처럼 PRS 를분리할경우총 9번의갱신이가능해진다. 이렇게파일럿분할기법을이용하여적응필터계수를갱신하면매프레임마다 PRS를이용해필터계수를갱신하던방법보다수렴속도를크게향상시킬수있다. 다만, 서브그룹의크기를지나치게작게할경우필터의탭계수갱신횟수는증가하나채널추정에러의스펙트럼해상도가낮아질수있으므로채널상황에따라서브그룹의크기를적절히조절해야한다. Ⅴ. 시뮬레이션결과및분석 T-DMB 중계기에서제안하는시간영역파일럿분할기법을이용한궤환신호제거기의성능평가를위해모의실험을수행하였다. 모의실험에사용된 T-DMB 시스템파라미터는표 1 [7] 과같고, 궤환채널및궤환신호제거기관련파라미터는표 2에나타내었다. 여기에서 feedback delay time은궤환신호중크기가가장큰경로의지연시간을의미한다. 일반적으로 T-DMB 중계기가설치되는높은산 331

(7) 여기서 과 은각각주송신기의전송신호와중계기출력신호를의미한다. 그림 6은한프레임에해당하는 76 OFDM 심볼마다한번씩삽입된 PRS를이용하여적응필터를한번갱신하는방법과제안된시간영역파일럿분할방법의성능비교를위해총 10 프레임에대하여모의실험을수행한결과를도시한것이다. 적용된궤환이득 (feedback gain) 은 1이다. 그림에서보듯이제안된방법이기존의방법보다수렴속도측면에서매우우수함을알수있고, 특히분할된서브그룹의크기가 512인경우에수렴속도가가장빠른것으로나타났다. 이는두방법모두프레임의첫번째 OFDM 심볼인 PRS에서만적응필터의탭계수갱신을수행하지만, 제안된방법에서는 PRS 구간동안적응필터의탭계수갱신횟수를서브그룹의수만큼증가시킬수있으므로적응필터의 Number of frames 그림 7. 기존방법과사간영역파일럿분할기법의성능비교 (feedback gain: 0.5). 수렴속도가향상된다. 그러나서브그룹의크기를 256으로한경우를보면적응필터가궤환채널을정확히추정하지못하는것을볼수있다. 이는시간영역파일럿분할을많이할수록갱신횟수는증가하나, 궤환채널을추정하기위한주파수정보의해상도가떨어져추정된채널의정확도가낮아지기때문이다. 그림 7은궤환이득을 0.5로줄였을때의모의실험결과를보여주고있다. 그림 6에서의궤환이득이 1인경우와마찬가지로제안된방법을적용했을때궤환채널에대한추정속도가향상됨을알수있다. 그러나적용된채널환경이그림 6에비해완화됨에따라가장빠른수렴속도를나타내는서브그룹크기는 256으로나타났고, 이경우는 10 프레임이내에이상적인수렴성능인백색잡음의수준에도달하고있음을알수있다. 또한서브그룹의크기가 128인경우에는그림 6의 256인경우와같이궤환채널을제대로추정하지못하는것을볼수있다. 그림 6과그림 7의결과에서나타나듯이채널환경에따라가장우수한수렴속도를획득할수있는서브그룹의크기는달라지므로제안된방법의효과를극대화하기위해서는채널환경에따라적절한서브그룹의크기를선택해야한다. 실제로 T-DMB 중계기에서의채널환경은각각의중계기설치위치에서간단한실험으로대략적으로파악할수있으며, 이를통해적절한서브그룹크기를결정할수있다. 이렇게결정된서브그룹크기를채택하고제안된방법을중계기에도입하면개선된채널추정속도를통해채널변화에좀더강건한성능을확보할수있으므로, 궤환신호로인해제한되었던중계기의재전 332

7 논문 / 시간영역파일럿분할을통한 T-DMB 중계기에서의궤환신호제거기법 송신호전력을증가시킬수있어 T-DMB 중계기의성능향상을꾀할수있을것이다. Ⅵ. 결론본논문에서는 T-DMB 중계기에서궤환신호제거기의성능을개선하기위해시간영역파일럿분할방법을제안하였다. 제안된방법은 PRS 구간에서적응필터의탭계수갱신횟수를증가시킴으로써, 궤환신호제거기의채널추정속도를향상시킬수있다. T-DMB 중계기에서궤환신호제거성능향상은재전송신호의송출전력의증가를의미하며, 이것은중계기의전파도달영역확장에기여할수있음을의미한다. 따라서제안된방법을 T-DMB 중계기에적용할경우서비스확대뿐만아니라안정적인서비스환경구축에크게기여할수있을것으로기대된다. 참고문헌 [1] Part27.60 TV/DTV interference protection criteria, FCC regulations, 2006, p [2] Y.-T.
