1 YWXY º º t rzyywxyhw]y Ÿk ƒ ƒ x Investgaton on Thermal Analyss Method of IPMSM for Ralway Vehcles ø ø ã ä ã äõ ã ä ã ä ú ã Chan-Bae Park *, Hyung-Woo Lee *, Jae-Hee Km *, Jun-Ho Lee *, Byung-Song Lee * Abstract In ths paper, research on thermal analyss method s conducted for the characterzaton of heat generaton durng operaton of Interor Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) for ralway vehcles. Effcent coolng of the heat generated n the IPMSM s mportant because the excessve heat generated from the wndng, core and permanent magnet makes t harder for a long tme contnuous operaton of IPMSM. Therefore, n order to analyze the heat generaton characterstcs of the IPMSM as advanced research for applcaton the IPMSM to the coolng devce, the heat transfer coeffcents for each component of the IPMSM were derved and the thermal equvalent crcut was confgured to perform the thermal analyss n ths study. Fnally, the valdaton of the suggested thermal analyss method was performed through the comparson wth the heat expermental data of IPMSM prototype.
