A couple might choose a divorce immediately after the shocking incident, or be born again as a new couple through a long process of conflict resolution. The role of pastoral counseling is to sustain the suffering couple during the difficult process and to help them choose the right way at a turning point. Especially as for the christians, adultery leads them to a spiritual crisis. The pastoral couple therapy model introduced here emphasizes consistently the theological issues such as restoration of trust, guilt, forgiveness and spiritual redemption, all through the process of reconstructing couple intimacy. In this model, pastoral counselors are recommended to deal with ten therapeutic tasks systematically in three stages of counseling process. Several guidelines for the self reflections of pastoral counselors are also suggested.
