1 THE JOURNAL OF KOREAN INSTITUTE OF ELECTROMAGNETIC ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE May; 23(5), ISSN (Print) AP 의채널설정및밀집도에따른무선랜의전송속도에관한실험 Experiment of the Throughput of WLAN according to Channelling and Density of AP 심용섭 *, * 전상봉 * 박승근 * Yong-Sup Shim*, ** Sang-Bong Jeon* Seung-Keun Park* 요약 본논문에서는 2.4 GHz 대역을사용하는 기반의무선랜상호간전파간섭에따른전송속도에관한실험이다. 최근, 휴대용노트북과스마트폰의활성화로무선랜밀집공간이증가함에따라, 이공간에서설치된무선랜간에전파간섭으로인한전송속도저하가우려되고있다. 이와관련하여본논문은다수무선랜에설치된시나리오를구성하여채널조합에따른전송속도를측정하여보다효율적인채널조합을제시하였고, 설치된 AP 의수에따른전송속도를측정하여설치 AP 의수와전송속도와의관계를도출하였다. 측정결과, 보다효율적인채널조합으로 1, 5, 9, 13 을제시하며, 설치 AP 의밀집도가증가할수록전송속도는감소하는것으로나타났다. Abstract This paper is about the experiment which is throughput of WLANs based on due to interference each other. Recently, WLAN has been increased due to generalization of smart-phone and potable notebook. Therefore, the decrease of throughput because of interference between WLANs is expected. In regard of this, the throughput of WLANs according to channelling is measured in order to figure out efficient channelling and the throughput of WLANs according to the number of AP was measured in order to get relation between number of AP and throughput. Then, more efficint channelling of 1, 5, 9, 13 is suggested and the throughput of WLAN is decreased as increasing of number of AP. 2 AP 의채널설정및밀집도에따른무선랜의전송속도에관한실험 을사용하는노트북이증가하고, 와이파이를탑재한 스마트폰이널리사용되면서다수의무선랜이설치 된밀집공간이형성됨에따라이곳에서의동일채 널및인접채널간섭현상이우려되고있다 [2].[3]. 지금까지수행된무선랜관련간섭연구는무선 랜과 RF(Radio Frequency) 전구와의간섭 [4], 무선랜 과무선랜간의간섭에관한연구 [5].[6] 등이있으며, 특히무선랜상호간의간섭연구를살펴보면단지 2 대의무선랜 AP(Access Point) 에대한것으로 AP A 와 B 간의간섭만을분석하였다. 따라서현재무선 랜이밀집한공간에서현저한전송속도저하현상 이발생함 [7] 을감안할때다수의무선랜이존재하는 공간에대한상호간섭연구가요구되고있다. 이와관련하여본논문은무선랜이밀집된공간 을구성하여설치된 AP 에설정된채널조합에따른 전송속도를측정하였으며, 한정된공간에설치된 AP 의수를변화시켜이에따른전송속도를측정하 였다. 첫번째실험을통해최대의전송속도를나타 내는최적채널조합을도출하였고, 두번째실험을 통해 AP 의밀집도에따른전송속도와의관계를확 인할수있었다. Ⅱ. 국내밀집공간측정및효율적채널조합제시 2-1 국내무선랜밀집공간의전파환경측정 국내에서대중들이많이모이는지역으로대규모 무선랜사용자가예상되는 A, B, C 지역을선정하 여이곳의무선랜전파환경을측정하였다. 측정장 비로는무선랜의전파환경측정에널리사용되는 S/W 인 Network-Stumbler [8] 가설치된노트북을이용 하여측정지점에검색되는무선랜의수신파워, 설 정채널, SSID(Service Set IDentifier) 등에대한정보 를수집하였다. 그림 1 은 A, B, C 세측정지점가운 데가장많은수의무선랜 AP 가검색된 A 지역의 전파환경을나타낸다. 그림 1 의무선랜전파환경측정결과, 총 224 개 의 AP 가검색되었으며, 이중에서모든 AP 가간섭 을미치는것은아니며측정지점에서수신된파워 에따라서간섭의정도가결정된다. 따라서무선랜 의최소수신파워가 76 dbm 임을감안했을때, 이 그림 1. 무선랜밀집공간의전파환경 (A 지역 ) Fig. 1. Selected channel distribution of AP. 측정지점 채널별 AP 의수 기타총 A B C 보다높은 60 dbm 이상의수신파워를갖는 AP 의 수가 78 개로, 이는무선랜상호간에간섭이발생할 수있는충분한숫자로생각된다. 또한, AP 의송신 파워는최대 20 dbm 으로측정된수신파워에따라 서불과수 m 의이격거리를두고 AP 가설치된경우 도있음을유추할수있다. 또한, 측정지점 A, B, C 지점에서측정된 AP 의 채널별분포를표 1 에나타내었다. 표 1 에서보듯이 A, B, C 지역에서총 13 개의가 용채널중 1, 6, 11 번의 3 개채널을사용하는 AP 의 수가나머지 10 개채널을사용하는 AP 의수보다지 역별로 2~7 배정도많게검색되었다. 이와같은채 널사용은설치된 AP 의대다수를차지하는통신사 업자들의채널설정정책을반영하는것으로동일 채널사용에따른주파수중첩현상을심화시켜결 국무선랜의심각한전송속도저하를초래하는것 647

Channel and center frequency of WLAN. 주파수대역 2,400~ 2,483.5 MHz 으로사료된다. 채널번호 중심주파수 (MHz) 1 2, , , , , , , , , , , , , 효율적인채널조합제시 2.4 GHz 대역을사용하는국내무선랜채널및 주파수는표 2 와같이 2,400~2,483.5 MHz 대역에 각채널당 22 MHz 의대역폭을갖는 13 개의채널로 할당되어있다. 지금까지국내무선랜밀집공간의전파환경측 정결과, 1, 6, 11 의채널을집중적으로선택하여사 용하는것으로나타났다. 이는표 2 에서나타낸무 선랜의총주파수대역에서 22 MHz 의대역폭을갖 는각채널중에서중첩을피할수있는채널이그림 2 와같이 1, 6, 11 번임에따라서무선랜의채널설정 이이루어진것으로보인다. 기존의 1, 6, 11 번의채널조합에서그림 3 과같이 한채널을더확장하여 1, 5, 9, 13 의채널조합을선 그림 3. 1, 5, 번의채널조합 Fig. 3. Interfering power. 택하였을경우, 각채널간에 2 MHz 의중첩을허용 하더라도한채널을추가로확장함에따라총전송 속도의상승을기대할수있다. 2-3 간섭전력과전송속도와의관계 채널 A 를사용하는단말기에수신된인접채널 B 의간섭전력은그림 4 와같이채널 A 와 B 중첩대 역폭으로표현할수있다. 간섭전력의크기 (P I) 를계산하기위해서는먼저, 식 (1) 과같이대역폭 (B) 를갖는채널의전력 (P T) 을 1 Hz 의전력으로정규화한후, 중첩대역폭 ( f ) 을곱 해서구할수있다. log Hz f (1) 이같이계산된간섭전력은식 (2) 에서신호대잡 음비 (S/N) 의잡음전력에합산되어결국전송속도 (C) 를감소시킨다. log (2) Ⅲ. 전송속도비교실험 3-1 채널조합별전송속도측정 그림 2. 1, 6, 11 번의채널조합 Fig. 2. Experiment in the semi-anechonic chamber. 반사실에서실험을수행하였다. 전자파반무반사실 에서의실험개요를표 3 에나타내었다. 그림 5 는전자파반무반사실의실험구성도를나 타내고있으며, 그림과같이 AP 와단말기의위치를 고정시킨후, AP1~AP4 의채널설정을변화시켜이 에따른단말 1~4 의전송속도를합산하여총전송 속도로측정하였다. 총전송속도측정은무선랜의표준 11b, 11g, 11n 에따라반복하였으며, 각채널조합과표준에따 른총전송속도를표 4 와그림 6 에나타내었다. 전자파반무반사실의실험결과, 주파수중첩이 적은채널조합의순서, (1, 5, 9, 13) > (1, 6, 11, 6) > (1, 5, 6, 11) > (1, 1, 1, 1) 의순으로높은전송속도가 측정되었으며, 본논문에서제시한채널조합 (1, 5, 9, 13) 은기존의채널조합 (1, 6, 11) 과비교하여 11b, 11g, 11n 표준에따라각각 %, %, 그림 6. 채널조합에따른총전송속도비교 Fig. 6. Comparison of total throughput according to channelling. % 증가된전송속도가측정되었다. 3-2 AP 밀집도별전송속도측정 여기에서는, 특정공간에설치된 AP 의수에따른 전송속도를비교하기위해대강당의실험장소를 선정하여설치 AP 의수 20, 12, 8 대에따른전송속 도를측정하였다. 이때, 각 AP 의설정된채널조합은 1, 5, 9, 13 으로 고정하였으며, 각 AP 간의고도차및장애물등, 전 자파반무반사실에비해추가적인전송속도저하 요인이발생하는보다실제와가까운환경이라할 수있다. 대강당에서의실험개요를표 5 와같이요 약하였다. 그림 7 과같이대강당의실험은 g 의표준을 설정하고대강당내에균일한 AP 의분포를갖도록 각설치 AP 의수에따른동일한 AP 간이격거리를 649

Experiment in main auditorium. 설정하여위치시킨다. 전송속도측정에있어, AP 밀집도를나타내는설 치 AP 수가증가함에따라합산해야하는단말의수 또한증가하게되어결국총전송속도의증가요인 이발생한다. 동시에 AP 의수가증가하면발생하는 간섭또한증가하게되어총전송저하의요인이또 한발생한다. 즉, 설치 AP 의밀집도변화에따라총 전송속도에영향을미치는증가요인과저하요인 에대한영향력을비교하고자한다. 대강당에서설치한 AP 의수를 8/12/20 대로변화 시킨밀집도에대한전송속도를표 6 과그림 8 에나 타내었다. AP 의밀집도에따른전송속도측정결과, 밀집도 가낮은순으로 (8 > 12 > 20) 높은총전송속도가측 정되었다. 즉, 일반적으로 AP 간간섭이적은경우 에서는설치 AP 수증가를통해총전송속도의향 상을기대할수있으나, 설치 AP의수와전송속도는반드시비례하지않고밀집도가증가할수록오히려간섭이증가하여총전송속도의저하를유발할수도있음을확인하였다. Ⅳ. 결론본논문은최근무선랜의사용이급증함에따라무선랜상호간의간섭으로인한전송속도저하현상이예상되는상황에서, 실제다수무선랜이사용되는곳의전파환경을측정하여기존의 AP에선택된채널조합의문제점을파악하고, 보다효율적인채널조합을제시하였다. 또한, 실험을통해제시한채널조합의효율성을확인하였으며, 특정공간에설치된 AP가증가할수록간섭현상이심화되어전송속도의저하가발생함을확인하였다. 따라서, 무선랜의전송속도개선을위해 AP의채널선택시 1, 5, 9, 13의채널조합설정을권고함과동시에특정공간에서설치가능한 AP의수를제 650

연구는진행되지않았다. 기업체차원에서 WiFi 신호간간섭문제에대한연구가진행 된경우는몇몇사례가있는것으로보이나그데이터를외부에공개하지않는등실질 적으로는도움이되지않는다. 따라서본논문에서는 WiFi 신호간간섭문제를현재까지와는다른측면에서분석하려고한다. 먼저 WiFi 신호의수가급증한 WiFi 통신의신호간간섭분석을통한간섭 최소화방안제안 초록스마트기기의급격한보급과함께 WiFi 통신이빠르게확산되며 WiFi 신호간간섭문제가커지고있다. 본논문에서는 802.11n 통신의대역폭분배방법과신호간채널간격, 간이반사판의설치에따른통신성능을분석하였으며지하철의 WiFi 통신망구축상태를살펴보았다. 그결과다수의신호가존재하는경우대역폭을채널단위로분배하는방식의효율성이크지않음을보였다.
