5 등의작업을통해정보를습득하여야한다. 예를들면어느종이를사용하는학회에서그종이가보존용지인지알려면제업사또는생산회사에우선문의하여보고정보를구할수없으면직접국내에서측정기관에의뢰하여야한다. 국내에서는서울대학교농업생명과학대학산림과학부환경재료과학전공, 제지공학및종이물성학연구실에측정의뢰를부탁할수있으나측정및결과제공여부는연구실운영사정에따른다. 그리고이런보존용지를사용할때는다음과같이표기하는것이필요하다. This paper meets the requirements of ANSI/NISO Z (Permanence of Paper). 또는 This paper meets the requirements of ISO and ANSI/NISO Z (Permanence of Paper). 이보존용지기술이왜필요할까? 이런기술이있는지여부에따라서도서관에서학술지보관장소가달라지기때문이다. 과거산성종이에인쇄한것은별도의보관장소가있다. 그러므로편집인은학술지의종이가보존용지인지아닌지알수없다면최소다음과같이알칼리종이에인쇄한다고표기하여야한다. 우리나라에서학술지인쇄를위하여유통하는대부분의종이는모두알칼리종이이므로따로검사를받지않고아래처럼표기하여도무방하다.
