Abstract In this paper, we introduce a design method for a broadband planar quasi-yagi antenna (QYA) for terrestrial digital television (DTV) reception. The coplanar strip line which feeds the driver dipole is connected to a microstrip line and is terminated by short circuit. By appending a wide strip-type rectangular director at a location close to the driver dipole, broadband impedance matching and gain enhancement in a high frequency region are obtained. The gain characteristics in a low frequency region are improved by adding a reflector formed by a truncated ground plane. To reduce the antenna size, the strip-type dipole and reflector are modified to half bow-tie (V)-shaped elements. The effects of various parameters on the antenna characteristics are examined. An antenna, as a design example for the proposed antenna, is designed for the operation in the frequency band of MHz for terrestrial DTV. The optimized antenna is fabricated on an FR4 substrate and the experimental results show that the antenna has a good performance such as a frequency band of MHz for a VSWR < 2, gain > 4.1 dbi, and front-to-back ratio > 10.4 db. Key Words : Broadband antenna, DTV antenna, Half bow-tie type, Quasi-Yagi antenna 1. 서론 지상파디지털 TV(DTV) 는아날로그 TV에비해 2배이상의뛰어난품질의선명한화면을제공하고다양한 응용서비스가가능하여최근 10년동안급속히보급되었고, 2013년현재대한민국은전국이 100% 디지털방송으로전환된상태이다. 현재 DTV 용으로할당된주파수대역은 MHz로서주파수범위가매우넓어서, 본논문은 2012년도동서대학교학술연구조성비를지원받았음. * Corresponding Author : Junho Yeo(Daegu Univ.) 2 수신용안테나는광대역특성을갖도록설계하여야한다. 광대역이면서적절한이득과지향성을갖는안테나는대수주기안테나 (LPA; Log periodic antenna) 가대표적이나설계과정이다소복잡하고고이득특성을갖도록배열안테나를구성하는것이용이하지않다는단점을갖고있다 [1]. 다이폴투사기 (driver), 접지면반사기 (reflector), 그리고스트립도파기 (director) 로구성되는평면준-야기 (quasi-yagi) 안테나 (QYA) 는적절히넓은대역폭과지향성을갖고있어서 RF 통신용트랜시버, 레이더등에응용되고있다 [2 6]. 3소자 QYA에대한기존연구결과 [3] 에의하면 5 dbi 이상의이득특성을갖는 QYA의대역폭은약 17% 정도이고, 대역폭이약 45% 의광대역특성을갖기위해서는이득이 3 5 dbi로 2 db 정도감소되어야한다. 보다넓은대역폭과적절하고고른이득을갖도록하기위해서는기존설계방법에비해개선된새로운설계방법이요구된다. 최근소자간거리와폭을비균일한구조를채택하여대역폭이약 60%, 이득이 5 dbi 이상인우수한성능을갖는 4소자 QYA를설계한사례가보고된바있다 [7]. 본연구에서는지상파 DTV 수신용안테나를 3소자 QYA로설계하고소형화하는방법에대해연구하였다. DTV용대역 ( MHz) 내에서 VSWR < 2인광대역특성 ( 대역폭이약 53% 이상혹은임피던스대역폭비가 1.72 : 1 이상 ) 을만족하고, 대역내이득이최소 3.5 dbi 이상인지향성 QYA를설계하는방법에대해연구하였다. 제안된 3소자 QYA는평면다이폴과이에근접하는직사각패치형태의도파기, 그리고접지면반사기로구성된다. 평면다이폴은코플래너스트립 (coplanar strip) 에의해급전되며, 전체 QYA는코플래너스트립에내장되고종단이단락된마이크로스트립으로급전되어밸런 (Balun) 을위한별도의공간이필요치않다 [7]. 광대역특성을얻기위해각소자의폭, 길이, 소자사이간격등을조절하고다이폴과반사기를반보우-타이 (half bow-tie) 형태로변형하여소형화하는방법을택하였다. 국내외를막론하고기존 DTV 수신용안테나에대한거의대부분의연구가포트임피던스를 50옴으로설정하였는데반해본연구에서는실제 DTV의포트임피던스인 75옴을기준임피던스로설정하고시뮬레이션과실험을수행하였다. 제안된구조의안테나를설계하는절차를제시하고각파라미터들이안테나의특성에미치는영향등을시뮬레이션결과들을통해설명하였다. 최적화된안테나를 FR4 기판에제작하고성능을실험한결과를시뮬레이션예측치와비교하여본연구의타당성을검증하였다. 2. 안테나구조및설계절차 2.1 안테나구조 Fig. 1은제안된안테나구조로서, 유전체기판의한면에코플래너스트립으로급전되는다이폴 ( ), 접지면반사기 ( ), 도파기 ( ) 가인쇄된다. 급전마이크로스트립선로는코플래너스트립에내장되어있어밸런을위한별도의공간을줄일수있고, 종단은단락되어있다. 광대역특성을갖도록도파기는다이폴에근접한영역에위치하고안테나를소형화하기위해다이폴과반사기는반보우-타이형 ( 혹은 V형 ) 으로구성된다. 지상파 DTV용주파수대역 ( MHz) 의동작에적합하도록대역내에서 VSWR < 2 및이득 > 3.5 dbi 조건을만족하는안테나를 FR4 기판 ( 비유전율 4.4, 두께 1.6 mm, 손실탄젠트 0.025) 에설계하는과정을소개한다. 단, DTV의포트임피던스인 75옴과정합되도록마이크로스트립선로의특성임피던스는 75옴이되게한다 ( =1.38). [Fig. 1] Geometry of proposed QYA Fig. 2는제안된구조의안테나를설계하는과정을제시한것이며, 급전마이크로스트립선로는 Fig. 1에제시된바와같이다른면에위치하고있다. Fig. 2(a) 는코플래너스트립에연결된다이폴 ( ) 을 75옴마이크로스트립선로로급전하는것 ( 편의상 경우로함 ) 이고, Fig. 2(b) 는폭 (Fig. 1의 ) 이전형적인도파기에비해넓은직사각패치형도파기 ( ) 를다이폴에매우근접하는영역에둔것 ( 경우로함 ) 으로광대역정합특성과고주파대역에서배열축방향 (y 방향 ) 으로의이득개선을얻을수있다. Fig. 2(c) 는접지면반사기 ( ) 를다이폴로부터적절한거리에부가한것 ( 경우로 1909

Fig. 2(d) 는다이폴과반사기의모양을반보우-타이형으로변형하여안테나를소형화한것 ( 경우로함 ) 이다. 상용 EM 시뮬레이션툴인 CST사의 Microwave Studio (MWS) 를이용하여제시된안테나구조를해석하였다. 먼저각소자가곧은스트립형태인 Fig. 2(c) 구조의 QYA가 DTV용으로적합하도록설계하는절차와방법을소개한다. 임피던스정합이관찰되는급전점 ( =100) 이다이폴에근접한것은다이폴의공진임피던스와급전선의특성임피던스 (75옴) 가근접하기때문이다. 다이폴의길이 ( ) 는공진주파수 452 MHz에서의약 0.41 ( ; 자유공간파장 ) 에해당된다. 코플래너스트립선로의특성임피던스는약 127옴이고코플래너스트립사이의슬롯의길이 ( ) 는 490 MHz에서의 0.25 ( ; 코플래너스트립선로의파장 ) 에근접한다. (a) dipole( ) (b) dipole and director( ) (c) dipole, director, and reflector( ) (d) dipole and reflector of half bow-tie type ( ). 2.2 평면다이폴 (' ' 경우 ) Fig. 2(a) 구조의평면다이폴은단락종단된코플래너스트립선로에연결되어있고, 코플래너스트립은 75옴특성임피던스의마이크로스트립선로에의해급전된다. 급전선로와다이폴간의임피던스정합은단락종단된마이크로스트립선로의급전위치 를조절하여얻을수있다. 다이폴의길이 ( ) 에의해공진주파수가결정되며, Fig. 2(b) 의 경우와같이근접도파기를부가하면공진주파수가약간증가되므로목표로하는 DTV용주파수대역 ( MHz) 의하한주파수 (470 MHz) 보다약간낮은공진주파수를갖도록설계한다. Fig. 3에서 로표시된것은 =270 mm일때반사계수특성이며, 파라미터값들은 =200, =300, =1.6, =1.38, =5, =2, =20, =10, =110, =100 이고단위는 mm이다. 공진주파수는 452 MHz이고 VSWR < 2 인대역은 MHz로서약 16.6% 의대역폭을갖는전형적인다이폴안테나의특성을보인다. (d) [Fig. 3] Simulated reflection coefficient 2.3 다이폴 + 도파기 (' ' 경우 ) 다이폴만으로는원하는광대역특성을얻을수없으므로 Fig. 2(b) 와같이다이폴에근접한영역에폭이넓은도파기 ( ) 를부가한다. 근접도파기에의해안테나의급전점임피던스는변화되며, 도파기의위치 ( ), 폭 ( ), 길이 ( ) 등과함께급전위치 ( ) 를변화시켜가면서광대역정합특성을얻을수있다. Fig. 3에서 ' ' 경우의데이터는폭 =60, 길이 =105인도파기를다이폴로부터거리 =4에두었을때반사계수특성이다. 다이폴만있는 경우와급전점의위치가동일한 =100인경우대역이 MHz( 대역폭약 22.2%) 로넓어지고정합특성이개선되었으나 DTV용주파수대역대부분 ( MHz) 에서정합특성이보다개선되어야한다. 동일한상태에서급전위치를감소시켰을때, 급전점 가감소됨에따라고주파대역의정합특성이점차개선되었고, Fig. 3에서보는바와같이, =70일때 VSWR < 2 를만족하는대역 ( MHz) 이원하는대역 ( MHz) 을포함하고대역폭 (444 MHz) 이 66.47%, 임피던스대역폭비 (impedance bandwidth ratio) 가 2 : 1에근접하는우수한광대역특성을갖는것을관 1910

4 찰할수있다. 근접도파기에의해안테나는배열축방향 (y 방향 ) 으로의지향성이개선되어 =70일때 DTV 용대역내에서이득이 dbi 로서 3.3 dbi 이상으로유지된다. 2.4 다이폴 + 도파기 + 반사기 (' ' 경우 ) ' ' 경우대역내이득이최소 3.3 dbi 이상으로유지되나, Fig. 2(c) 와같이반사기를부가하면이득이향상되고대역내고른이득분포를얻을수있다. Fig. 4는폭 =10, 길이 = =300인반사기를추가한경우의특성이며, 참고로 경우의특성도함께제시하였다. [Fig. 4] Simulated reflection coefficient and gain [Table 1] Optimized antenna parameters (case of ') parameter value [mm] parameter value [mm] Fig. 4에서보는바와같이반사기를추가시킨것이 경우에비해임피던스특성에는큰영향을미치지않는다. 그러나안테나이득은저주파대역에서 0.5 db 이상으로적지않게개선되는것을볼수있다. 이때, VSWR < 2 인주파수대역은 MHz로서목표대역을포함하고대역폭 62.9% 의우수한광대역특성을보인다. DTV 대역내이득은 3.8 dbi 이상으로유지 ( dbi) 되고이득변화가크지않은안정적인이득분포를보인다. 이상의성능들을감안할때안테나파라미터들은어느정도최적화되었다고볼수있고, 최적화된파라미터값들은 Table 1에제시된바와같다. 2.5 반보우-타이형다이폴과반사기 ( ' 경우 ) 앞서폭이일정한스트립으로 QYA의소자를구성한 Fig. 2(c) 의구조로안테나를최적화하였을때, 안테나의전체크기가접지면반사기의폭 ( =300) 과다이폴의폭 ( =270) 에의해좌우되므로안테나의성능에큰영향을주지않는다면소형화하는것이바람직하다. 소형화를위해본연구에서는택한방법은 Fig. 1 혹은 Fig. 2(d) 와같이다이폴과반사기를반보우-타이형으로변형하는것이다. 급전선에접한부분 ( ± ) 에서다이폴과반사기의폭은 =10으로변함이없지만끝부분에서는각각 와 로선형적으로증가되는구조이다. 보우-타이폭 ( 와 ) 을증가시킴에따라도체스트립내부에서전류의경로가연장되므로안테나의크기 ( 와 ) 를줄일수있다. Fig. 5는반사기 ( ) 는그대로둔채다이폴만반보우 -타이형으로변형한경우 ( =40, =220, =0, =300) 와반사기도반보우-타이형으로변형한경우 ( =40, =220, =50, =240) 의특성을변형을하지않은경우 ( = =0) 의결과와함께비교한것이고 Table 2 에결과가요약되어있다. Fig. 5와 Table 2의결과에서보는바와같이반보우-타이형의경우안테나의크기 ( =240) 가변형하지않은경우의크기 ( =300) 에비해 20 % 감소되었음에도불구하고가장넓은대역폭과안정된이득분포를갖는우수한성능을보이는것을알수있다. 임피던스대역폭비가약 2 : 1에이르고이득변화가 4.31 dbi 로부터 0.32 db 이내인고른이득분포는 LPA에서나구현할수있는우수한특성이고 QYA에대한대부분의기존연구결과들에서구현하기힘든성능이었다. 1911

(a) front side (b) back side 3. 제작및실험결과 DTV용으로적합하도록파라미터들을최적화시킨제안된 Fig. 2(d) 구조의 QYA를 FR4 기판상에 Fig. 6과같이제작하였으며, 안테나의사이즈는 240 mm 200 mm 이다. 제작된안테나는 75옴을포트임피던스로하는 DTV용으로설계된것이지만기준임피던스 75옴에대한반사계수를직접측정할수있는장비는현실적으로제공되지않으므로 50옴을기준임피던스로하는회로망분석기 (Vector Network Analyzer; VNA) 를이용하여야한다. 75옴을기준으로하는반사계수를측정하기위해제작된안테나의급전부인마이크로스트립선로에 SMA 커넥터를납땜하고 50옴을기준임피던스로하는 VNA 를이용하여반사계수 ( ) 를측정한다. 측정된반사계수로부터안테나의입력임피던스 ( ), 75옴을기준임 Fig. 7은제작된안테나의 VSWR을 VNA(N5230A, Agilent사 ) 를이용하여측정한것이며, 시뮬레이션결과와측정결과가잘일치하는것을볼때본연구의결과들이타당함을알수있다. 측정결과에의하면제작된안테나는 VSWR < 2인대역 ( MHz, 대역폭 61.3%) 이 DTV용대역을포함하고임피던스대역폭비가 1.88 : 1인광대역특성을갖는다. 피던스로하는반사계수 ( ) 와 VSWR을각각, [Fig. 7] Measured VSWR 1912

6 Fig. 8은제작된안테나의복사패턴을전자파무반사실에서측정한결과로서배열축방향 (y 방향 ) 으로의지향성을갖고전후방비는 10.4 db 이상, 반전력빔폭 (Half Power Beam Width) 은 E-면 70 81도, H-면 도, 이득은 4.1 dbi 이상이다. 한가지주의할것은 75옴에정합되도록설계된제안된안테나의복사특성을측정하는방법이다. 본연구에서는 50옴용으로설계된안테나를측정하기위한일반적인초고주파대역시스템을활용하되, 75옴안테나와 50옴시스템사이에임피던스변환기 (50옴-75옴) 를삽입하고복사패턴과이득성능을측정한후임피던스변환기의영향을보정하는방법으로측정하였다. 측정결과들은시뮬레이션에의해예측된결과들과잘일치하였고, 제작된안테나의성능을측정한위의결과들을볼때, 제안된안테나가지상파 DTV 수신용으로적합하다고볼수있다. 그리고제안된구조의 QYA 설계방법을이용하면다른주파수대역의광대역지향성안테나설계가용이할것으로생각된다. 로로급전되며, 밸런을위한별도의공간이필요없는구조이다. 코플래너스트립으로급전되는평면다이폴에사각패치형도파기를근접시켜광대역임피던스정합특성을얻고접지면반사기를부가하여대역내고른이득분포를갖게하였다. 다이폴과반사기의모양을반보우-타이형으로변형하여안테나의크기를 20% 감소시켰으나안테나의성능 ( 대역폭, 이득 ) 은대등한상태를유지할수있었다. DTV용으로최적화된안테나를 FR4 기판상에제작하고특성을실험한결과 VSWR < 2 인대역은 MHz, 반전력빔폭은 E-면에서 70 81도, H-면에서 도, 이득은 4.1 dbi 이상, 전후방비는 10.4 db 이상인우수한성능을확인할수있었다. 제안된구조의안테나는주파수변환설계가용이하여다양한용도의광대역지향성안테나로응용될수있으며, 고이득배열안테나의요소안테나로사용되기에유망할것으로사료된다.
